Default Question for SDA CRS+ Owners

I about to buy a pair of CRS+ speakers, one question for existing CRS+ owners:

On the back of the speaker, there is a place for the serial number label (black font on white background), does it say CRS or CRS+ on your SDA CRS+ speakers?

Thanks

Joe

As the above have stated my CRS+ do not have a + on the rear lable (see picture here: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink ) but the single tweeter is the dead give away.

You've just bought some VERY special speakers.

Did they come with the Polk connecting cable?

black tweeters, must be later than mine. Mine have the dreaded SL2000 Silver Domes which sound great to my ears. Do your crossovers or drivers have a born on date? I think mine have 1989 stamped on the the drivers and on a sticker on the crossovers.

The seller got the CRS+'s as part of a package deal; He replaced the original bad SL2000s with RDO 194's

The previous owner replaced the SL2000s with a pair of RDO-194s.

The born on date these speakers is Nov 1988 (date printed on the woofer).

I think I can answer my question which start this thread now:

The serial label for the CRS+ speaker only shows CRS (NO "+"), but most of the internal parts of the speaker have the "CRS+" printed in black ink. So the best way to identify a CRS+: CRS+ = 1 tweeter. To confirm it, you will have to open up the speaker and check the woofers or crossover.

Now thats funny, I always said the same about you guys to the south...especially a year or 2 ago when there was that multiple SRS deal for almost nothing...If I hadnt of scored my couple of pairs of SRS's here I would have driven down.

I did drive down with a friend ( We made a complete oval and made a Vegas trip out of it on the way back ) to get a pair of 2.3TL's for him for 400 bucks.

The OP got a great deal on those CRS+'s with them already having the 194's in them , In the past year though the deals on the big boys has really dried up...07 and 08 were 2 really good years...but this year has been pretty weak.

I am the seller from whom the OP got his SDA-CRS+ Polks and I was happy to pass them along to an appreciative new owner. As mentioned, I got them in a bundle with some other gear and as a result of some good advice I got right here on the Polk Forum, was able to get the "special" price on the replacement tweeters for the dead silver dome originals. Being my very first Polk's I was very impressed with the CRS+'s but as much as I would have liked to keep them, I just didn't have any room - a fact for which the OP can vouch - and so they were stored in the garage until yesterday.

No need to open the speakers for an ID. All CRS+ have only one tweeter. Of note, the early CRS+ are blade/blade and the later are pin/blade. That difference can be very important if you want to use non-common ground, dual mono or mono block amps.
