I added Beatles For Sale to the collection yesterday!

All I need now is Please, Please Me, With the Beatles and A Hard Days Night. Hopefully I'll be snagging them up soon as well.

Then I just might have to save the coin up for the mono box set...

If you purchased the stereo box set, then how do you know the mono isnt that great? I purchased both sets and for some albums (Sgt Pepper for instance) the mono version is far superior.

Well if you already have most of the Beatles albums I wouldn't them buy again. On my 2 systems they sounded very loud in the highs, and the lows didn't did in very deep. I listened on SDAs and Polk monitors... Just my opinion.

Or, for an alternative opinion, I'd like to state that both sets are excellent, delivering their own distinctive strengths, and represent some of the finest remastering these ears have ever witnessed.

Any time I lose sight of this fact I just pop in one of the several discs I have issued in 1990 for about 10 seconds. But of course just my opinion.

I'll see soon enough since I've made my mind of getting the stereo set also. So far quite please with the end result of the mono set but if one wants to own the Bealtes as they really were, we have to realize that some of the songs were actually delivered in both mono and stereo while others only in either mono or stereo. With all the mix opinions, I can't wait to buy the stereo set (just waiting for the right time )

I wish there were more "ABying" comments, anyone?

Cheers!
TK

I found the opposite to be true.

With that said, I decided to compare Peppers first. I put in the mono version, pressed play and didn't get beyond the first song as it was basically unlistenable. It sounded as though I was listening inside of a tunnel to music that was at the opposite end.

Wow, well, to each their own. All I can say is that, for me, Pepper is like a whole new album to me in mono. LSD has amazing vocal effects I never heard in stereo and She's Leaving Home is also totally different. Revolver and the White Album are wonderful in mono as well. Howeverm I can see how others might not like them. I dont, however, see how anyone could find mono Pepper to be unlistenable!
