Has/Does anybody use one of these?

http://www.rotarywoofer.com/

At 12K professionally installed, would it work? Thoughts?

From what I have read they are quite a performer. I think if you do a search you'll find an old thread about this sub.

Here it is. **LINK**

Default Maybe a link to users? Recommendations?

So none of you have heard this component or had a buddy that has or had one installed?

I'm not in any hurry, but in a couple of years my wife and I want to build a dedicated stereo room and I am interested in this. 12K is a little expensive to me to dive into without at least hearing or having a recommendation or two as to yea or nea.

Anybody?

What kind of overall response are you looking for? In my treated room, I have controlled bass with a -3dB at about 11-12Hz. Do you feel you need to go lower than this?

Personally, I would suggest one (or more depending on your room size) SVS PC-Ultras (I have two) and invest the remainder of the $12K in designing builtin room acoustics (include the ceiling) and better speakers than you were planning.

This may sound strange, but I'm not looking for response, I'm looking for more accurate bass at the extreme low end without having that dreaded "boom" at the bottom. Numbers, waveforms, frequencies, ballistics, amperage, wattage, dampening factors and a slew of other factors are obviously important when choosing gear for one's rig........synergy and the end result as to what ultimately hits your ears, whether it be sound or "feel" in this case is to me, the most important thing.

Another thread, http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53127 has what some folks consider bass. Bass and subsonic bass that does exist in real sound, to me [and not midbass] must be IMO able to be reproduced better with new technology -vs- a woofer. The end result should, in theory, sound more realistic in it's reproduction. That is why I am interested in this gear.

It may be that it does not kick in very often, and I'm OK with that. I have an available 2,501 watts on my stereo.....do I use it all the time? No. When it is needed, I would like it to be there, though. Same with this sub (in conjunction with the rest of my rig).

It would be nice to hear it, or at the very least a review from someone who will not offer a biased opinion, you know?

I had a herbie hancock record that would make my woofers move quite a bit at about 2-5hz, I always wondered what that would "sound" like if I actually got real response at that freq.

If you buy this vane-sub I will lone you the record and you can let me know

12k? Try doubling that:

Rotary Woofer Pricing:

TRW-17 transducer $12,900.00

Motor Controller $350.00

Amplifier and crossover $700.00

Design and installation, typical $8,000-$12,000*

Total $21,950-$25,950

*Note, design and installation fees include:

1. consulting engineering for the installation,

2. design and construction of the manifold at Eminent Technology

3. installation and setup of the TRW-17 by Eminent Technology

4. measurement and performance testing of the finished installation

5. travel for Eminent Technology employees

6. contractor fees for construction necessary for the installation

I read this thread when you posted it. I have been at a loss of words until now. I have to be at a better place in my journey of life to install this, however this does give me plenty of motivation!

I'd still like to hear it and it's effects. TXS!

El Bumparoonie! Blast from the past, eh? I'd still like to get my ears on one of these things. Anybody here got one or know someone that's got one I could listen too? Any demo rooms at a dealership.

Throw me a bone here.

I have read a couple of articles(don't remember where) about it but have never read where you could demo it. One article said it would go down to 1hz. Don't know if its true or not. The other article said that they installed two of these in a big church in NYC and had to remove one because there was so structural flexing. Again don't know if it's true but thats what i've read.
