Default Tax time toys?

Tax time can be tough. I normally get a few grand back but this year I was sure I would OWE even more than that. Not being one to let that bother me I went ahead and saved that much over the year and earmarked it for taxes. Well, being the ignorant tax person I am I found out today I was wrong. I actually got more back than normal!!!

So,
To start off I will be getting 8 of these for my Manley monoblocks!
http://www.thetubestore.com/shuguangel34b.html

After that I plan on re-tubing my Modulus preamp with four new 6922's. I would like to find NOS Bugle Boys.

The rest? I'm going to try something different. I think they call it "saving".

Anyone else plan on getting something cool this year?

I haven't seen a refund in a quite a while.

I'd like to get a pair of JM Lab Chorus series towers in the near future. I've got a pair of 18" stereo subs, and the 15" folded horn sub projects to finish too.

I'll probably be more in sell mode, than buy mode for a while.

Cheers,
Russ

Not audio-related, but with the money my dad gets back, we're gonna get his truck worked over. It's a '78 Chevy 3/4 ton with a full box and a trailering package (the combination of 3/4ton and trailering makes it ride hard as a rock...). Has a 350CI V-8 in it, which I hope to get the heads worked over, some exhaust work done, and get the carby tuned up better. Body needs a little assistance as well, and it currently is in desperate need of 4 new tires (2 have a slow leak).

With the money I get back, I think I'm going to put it away towards the new car that I'm soon going to need. Right now I'm limping along on 2 vehicles that are over 155k miles. When one breaks, I drive the other 'til I can get it fixed . Nice to have that fallback option. Not so nice to have a yard full of cars

At least none of them are on blocks....

I'm planning to get a violin and a tuner for it. I'll be playing my classical favorites all day and night.

Russ,

did you get AA news email today? they have a special on the Chorus right now for $399 / pair. they look nice and if they sound 70 percent as good as the $2100 / pair Electra 905s I heard a couple of months ago then they are a steal.

http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/pr...?sku=JML710CAL

I'm getting VERY nice refund back this year. Thanks to the house mortgage interest being tax deductible. A few more audio toys to complete a third rig in the house.

I had this very same truck when I was a teen. It was 3/4 ton with a 1 ton suspension. The damn thing would break your back if you hit a pot hole! I had the roll bar, brush guards and the kc lights that made it look like a space ship at night. Fun times!

Put that fine piece of machinery back together!

In our case tax time means opening the check book. But then I've never been in favor of giving Uncle an interest free loan.

I'd much rather get some back then owe. Even if Uncle Sam gets a few bucks off me in the process. Makes life that much less painful this time of year.

Peace Out~

That's the thing Ron, you'd have MORE CASH, if YOU took it of your check, put it in a Mutual Fund and made 12% on it all year, vs your employer taking it out and you make NOTHING.

The key is just avoiding the fees associated.... Greedy buggers they are....

I know and I already do that.

Our budget is all broken out with 15% going into savings, plus 401k deductions, plus a school fund for our daughter...etc.

This was an off year for us to get a large sum back. Most years I end up right at about 1k being returned. Brake that out over a years time and Uncle Sam is getting a few bucks off me, not much at all and not worth having to owe that at tax time.

Peace Out~

Not really. I like it much better when Uncle gives me an interest free loan that I can do with what I want for a year+. The difference for us between doing it one way and the other has at the bottom line meant new toys for free.

I figure Uncle Sam could use the help. Besides, it's better to have it and get no interest than to owe it but not have it.

Tax return this year bought me a Denon AVR-3805 and a Denon DVD-2900 and still plenty left over. On top of the tax return, the wife and I just took out a home equity loan to finish some things around the house. There is all knida money moving around in my house I just can't touch it until the wife is done with my hunny-do list.

It is quite a truck. We've had 1.5 tons of coal in the bed without too much trouble, towed a double horsetrailer (pretty small compared to some out there), and routinely load up 50 bales of hay (all at the same time!!! *BS*). It's sitting right now because it needs to be inspected, and in order for that to happen, we need some big $$.

We just rebuilt the carby ourselves, and surprisingly it runs pretty good. Just need to fine-tune the needles once it gets a little warmer around here.
