specifically, I would look for at least a 20 bit DAC (preferably 24)....Digital output is always nice as is a carousel type changer. Denon also is one that I would look at.

What is DAC? Why can you tell if a CD player will sound good?

The Marantz CC4000 may be available for that price. It comes w/a 3-yr warranty if purchased from an authorized dealer. I have no idea if it's the best in its price range. Just mentioning it as an option. The CC3000 is the same machine but w/out a headphone jack.

I always think the best CD player is a single CD player, not changer, changer is paint on the a** and sometimes it's so painful to deal with the transport, delay and noise and greater risk of mechanical break down.

DAC is a Digital Analog Converter.It takes digital in converts it to analog.
