Roughly 3 weeks ago I went on a limb and purchased 2 pairs of Monster Cable Reference Interconnects.....This was an upgrade from the pair of typical Radio Shack interconnects.
I must say there was an over-all improvement. The highs didnt change much, but the mids were more pronounced, and the bass now makes its presence known without a doubt. However, the time is drawing near to where I have to lay down the $200.00 payed for these things. Although this question would seem incredibly dense, I am curious as if anyone else has demo'd these cables....and have any opinions and comparisons? The deal is, I have to pay for these things in full in a few days, but I am not sure they are worth that extreme price. Yes, it was dumb of me to go off and just buy something without a) hearing it first and b) not comparing anything. haha Thats obvious. However, I am curious as to what you gentlemen *those of you who have used Monster Cable Reference Interconnects* feel... |

I was actually rather hoping someone could jump in, call me a dumbass and convince me to take them back.
Unfortunately I was indeed stupid enough to pay for the set. The only reason being is because I threw away the plastic encloser they came in. ................. though it sounds better, I can hardly say its 200 bucks worth thats for damn sure. |

i'd have to agree with ATC. I have trouble spending that kind of dinero on interconnects. I know i'd never use Radio Shack cables... or any of the other low name brands. But why do cables have to cost so dang much? If you break down the materials used... i'm sure it would be less than half the amount you pay for. I guess like clothing.. and other items.. you're paying for the logo/name brand.
Monster cable is sold everywhere.. they have flooded the marketplace with their products.. they pretty much don't have any compeititon. I'd like to see another good cable maker give them a run for their money and produce interconnects at half the price of monster and see who is left standing in the end. I myself use IXOS interconnects. I find them the same hight quality construction as Monster but for not nearly the high cost. Only problem with IXOS is that very few stores carry them. So mostly you'd have to order them off the internet. I bought a 6 RCA to 6 RCA IXOS cable for my DVD-audio player. Great, it works wonderful, sounds good and it was even color coded for all 6 RCA connectors. Monster doesn't even make a cable for DVD-a or SACD. Oh yeah the IXOS cable was $99 Finally, has anyone out there in Polk land used Acoustic Research interconnects? I've seen them in the store, but have yet to try them out.
