Depends on your listening habits, and the type of enclosure that you plan on installing the woofers into. What is the make and model of the amplifier?

im planning to setup 2 12 inchers powered by a kicker amp, it's 400w x 2 at 4ohms.

kicker rates its amps at 13.8 volts (basically the car running with sufficient alternator power) -- so that is a "true" 400 watts. if you're doing the subs in proper sealed boxes (0.88 cubic each -- do separate chambers if you can) then you're underpowering them a little but you should be ok -- not great, but ok. just dont try to over juice them and then blow the subs due to distortion.
