UltraFit™ Sports Headphones, Performance Starts Hear™

The next stage in precision audio equipment designed to meet the demands of the elite athlete.

UltraFit Features and Technology

Introducing the last pair of sports headphones you'll ever need to buy.

If it makes sound, we make it sound better. And after listening to more headphones than we can count, we found plenty of room for improvement. Our engineers established performance benchmarks and went to work. While the rest, as you'll read, is pure Polk engineering, the result is Polk Audio's signature sound: realistic, natural and smooth.

But sound doesn't matter if the headphone is uncomfortable and undependable. So our engineers also turned their attention to comfort and durability, and again found significant improvements could be made, because the fact is most sports headphones are not made to go the distance. How many miles, how many laps, how much heat and humidity a pair of headphones can withstand is rarely, if ever, factored into the design equation. The UltraFit Sports Headphones change all that.

Think of them as a reliable workout partner, always there, providing that extra motivation to help you go just a little harder, just a little farther.

HIGH PERFORMANCE SOUND FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE WORKOUTS.

Dynamic Balance®. The process of designing better sound.

Co-developed with the Johns Hopkins Center for Non-Destructive testing, Dynamic Balance is a design tool that enables our engineers to pinpoint the elements that negatively impact driver performance. Engineers then carefully control materials, interfaces and geometries, resulting in a headphone whose whole is greater than the sum of its part. Read more about Polk's Dynamic Balance

Dynamic Balance® Polymer Drivers

UltraFit Sport Headphones employ dynamic drivers much like those in a full size speaker. They're just a lot smaller. To meet our predetermined performance parameters, our engineers took the same care designing the drivers, even adding a discrete crossover filter to each driver to naturalize the high frequencies.

Ported Enclosures. Yes, ported enclosures.

UltraFit Sports Headphones are ported. There is the port (ear piece) you put in your ear. But the big deal is very small channels in the back of the driver enclosure, beneath the Polk logo. These are crucial to tuning the driver's frequency response peaks. And that means a better sounding pair of headphones.

COMFORT AND DURABILITY ARE ALL ABOUT YOUR PERFORMANCE.

Ultra Flexible Tangle-free Planar Audio Cable

Round cables, always coiling up and twisting, are a constant source of annoyance because they get in the way of your workout. Eventually repetitive twisting means the cable will break or pull out at the end.The UltraFit's planar design (with oxygen-free wire for better conductivity) completely eliminates coiling, so the headphone cables won't tangle up during a workout, or when stored away. The planar design also eliminates micro-phonics, the tendency of an electronic device to turn a mechanical vibration into "noise," which you would hear, in this case, through the headphones.

Moisture Shield

No headphone works well in a sweat bath of moisture. So we added Moisture Shield, a filter that provides two benefits. Located in the ear port on the UltraFit 3000 and as a thin scrim on UltraFit 500/1000 driver screen, the filter material resists moisture that could get to the driver; the headphones keep performing through strenuous activity. Moisture Shield also provides an acoustic barrier to help smooth frequency response.

SecureFit™ Support

You're ready for your workout. You put on your headphones and get to work.

The last thing you want is for an earpiece to fall out, instantly breaking your rhythm. SecureFit Support is a flexible ear hook that wraps around your ear, so the earpiece stays in place. With SecureFit Support, you'll experience a snug yet comfortable fit; put your headphones on and forget about them.

StrainGuard™

Sports headphones get a lot of abuse. UltraFit Sports Headphones have been designed with this in mind. Strainguard™ is a protective system that addresses the areas where sports headphones fail most often. A Kevlar core that houses the speaker wire provides extra tensile strength to prevent the wire from being pulled apart at common failure points. The other points of common failure in sports headphones are at transitional points between cable lengths and at connection points. In the UltraFit Series, all transitional connections are computer designed to strengthen the points where they fail most.

Environmental Awareness

Being aware of your surroundings is always important when you use a pair of headphones. In the gym, on the track or walking through the neighborhood, you want to be able to have a sense of what's going on around you. The UltraFit 500, 1000 and 2000 offer light to moderate levels of outside noise reduction. The UltraFit 3000 provides a high level of noise reduction.
