I-Sonic ES2 Firmware Update
The I-Sonic ES2 is one of the few all in one entertainment systems that allows you to do an in-home
upgrade via the USB port. This allows us to keep your product up to date with the latest developments
from Apple and iBiquity. You can take advantage of this feature by installing the following update:
Version 1.35
• Supports all iPhone and 3G iPhone functionality.
• Compatibility with the newest iPods.
• Allows iPod to be used as an alarm source.
• Improved HD Radio performance on weaker stations.
• Improvements to iTunes Tagging.
Upgrading the firmware to the I-Sonic ES2 is extremely easy.

Once you receive the upgrade flashdrive, follow the directions below.

What is needed:
• I-Sonic ES2
• Power Supply for I-Sonic IES2
• USB thumb drive with I-Sonic Upgrade File
Note: we have found that not all USB Thumb drives are compatible with the upgrade process. If after following this procedure you are not able to install the upgrade please, contact our Customer Service/Technical Support Department at 800-377-7655. Or send us an email at polkcs@polkaudio.com
Steps to upgrade the I-Sonic ES2:
- Unplug the power plug from the rear of the I-Sonice ES2 and remove iPod (if applicable).
- Place the USB thumb Drive in the input lableled "Service Port".

- Press & Hold the Volume + and Volume - buttons.
- While holding the Volume + and Volume - buttons; replace the power plug into the rear of the IES2.

- The tag button will light up, release the volume buttons at this time. The Tag light will begin to
blink slowly; this indicates the upgrade is loading. The main screen will be off during this process.
Do not press any buttons or unplug the power from the I-Sonic ES2 while the upgrade is in
process.
- After roughly 1 ½ - 2 minutes, the upgrade will be complete. You will know the upgrade is
complete when the Tag button goes off for several seconds, and then the series of normal start
up screens will appear in addition to the “Installation Successful” screen. Once the startup has
completed, the time screen will appear again.
- After the time screen appears, unplug the power plug from the rear of the I-Sonic ES2. Remove the USB thumb drive. Now replace the power plug in the rear of the I-Sonic ES2.
- The upgrade process is complete and you are now ready to use the I-Sonic ES2. Have fun!
How to check the current firmware version
You can check the current version of firmware installed on your I-Sonic ES2 by following these simple steps:
- Place the I-Sonic ES2 into standby mode. If the unit is on, press the power button to return to standby.
- Press and hold the Source button on the unit
- While holding the Source button; Press the power button. The I-Sonic ES2 will come on and display a screeen that says "VERSION" then provide a list of "System Info". The Firmware version can be found under the heading "Firmware Package: #.##" This screen will disappper after 5 seconds.
