What is "Dipole/Bipole"?
The more "diffuse" the surround sound field, the less the listener is able to pinpoint the action, resulting in a more realistic, enveloping surround sound experience, especially when it's necessary to mount the speakers close to the listening area. For the ultimate in rear surround, choose speakers with a choice of sound field patterns, both BiPole and DiPole. Polk's f/x300i, f/x500i and f/x1000 let you choose BiPole or DiPole at the flick of a switch depending on the speaker's placement. Place them where they look best in your home theater, and then select the pattern that provides optimum sound for you.
