RT600i

"…the Polk's are clearly a winner. At this price, they're a steal, the best system I've heard to date in this price range."
Mike McGann, E-Gear Magazine, Spring 2000

"Let me jump right to the chase-this Polk system is fun...Polk nails the fundamentals...this Polk sextet [RT600i, CS400i, f/x500i and PSW650] allows just about anyone to own and enjoy an exceptionally good home-theater speaker system."
Wayne Garcia
The Perfect Vision, May/June 2001

"Polk has created a loudspeaker that is at once clean and natural sounding, detailed without being overbearing, and very user-friendly... Not only is the RT600i an excellent sounding speaker, it is practical choice. It is practical not only because it is moderately-priced, it is also practical because it is modestly-sized. With less than one square foot of base area per speaker, they are easy to place in almost any listening area. The RT600i loudspeakers fill a room with rich sound that belies their low price."

RT3000p

“…the RT3000p generates a huge sense of space from stereo recordings…Audiophile CDs came through with tremendous depth and the sound seemed to wrap around me…voices sounded so clear and so natural through the RT3000p…”

“These subs [built-in to the RT3000p] strike a great compromise between the brute force of a big 15- or 18-inch sub and the finesse of little 8- and 10-inch subs… [and] give me all the low end I’d ever need.”
Home Theater, September 1999 (reviewed as part of a RT4000 system with CS400, f/x50 and PSW1200)
[Click here to see the full review]

"With surprising bass performance that will rock your world, a clear and musical midrange, a smooth, clean, completely unfatiguing treble, all coupled with superior imaging and sound staging in a speaker that is made to be driven to the extreme with modest amplifiers, the RT3000 is on my hot list. [Whew!] If you are planning a video system, make damned sure you check these bad boys out. If you are planning a music only system, ditto. If you are planning a combination audio/video system, these speakers are the ones that may just let you have your cake and eat it too."

SMR Home Theatre A/V Magazine, 1998

"…it [RT3000p] goes very deep with more oomph than you're likely to find in any powered full-range speaker anywhere near this price point." "From subtle, detail-intensive soundtracks to big blow ups, the RT5000 is equally adept."

"It has all the 'wow' you need for the biggest, boldest material-both soundtracks and music-combined with the sort of resolution and detail needed for more laid-back, intimate sound."
Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, December 1998. Reviewed as part of RT5000 system.

"With high-powered amplifiers, this system will deliver impressive dynamic contrasts whether the source is a music recording or a demanding film soundtrack."

"The direct radiating subwoofers of the RT5000 system [with RT3000p as front main speakers] deliver a tight, punchy bottom end that is well integrated with the midrange."

"Overall, the sound from this system was smooth, well balanced and dynamic. It was forgiving of flaws in the electronic components and the recordings while still offering a lot of detail. The system is easy to set-up and provides complete adjustability so you are likely to hear just what I heard, if you install a Polk RT5000 system in your room."

"This is a very well engineered speaker system that looks good and plays loudly with modest amplifier power. Its cost is reasonable for a system with five powered subwoofers and it can cost a lot less with smaller surround speakers. I enjoyed listening to music and film soundtracks through the Polk RT5000 speaker system and I can recommend it highly for home theatre use and for music listening."

RT2000i

"...these are really 'audiophile' speakers, not boom-boxes for the HT crowd. At the same price of a snobbish tiny bookshelf you buy a large, wood finished, subwoofer-equipped, good sounding floorstander that will give you all the bass your minimonitors always let you dream of. And no, you won't lose quality in the mid-high range, as these are fine, detailed and transparent performers with ANY kind of Music...True audiophile sound at consumer prices."

LSi15

"It's an impressive system."

"...especially in my large room, the added solidity and seamless musicality of the LSi15s made music listening something special. Out of all the impressive components that make up this system [LSi15, LSiC, LSi7, PSW650] these floorstanders are something special."

"If you're looking to provide superlative musical performance and an impressive home-theater system for your immediate gratification and long-term pleasure, this one fits the bill. At $4000, this system [LSi15, LSiC, LSi7, PSW650] isn't inexpensive, but it's less than the price of a lot of high-end stereo pairs. For performance like the LSi system's, $4000 isn't just a bargain, it's a catch."

"[The Polk Audio LSi15 is] an amazing bargain...I am a little stunned..."

"The upper octaves are among the smoothest and most detailed at all levels of dynamics that I have heard; they certainly outperform most speakers costing more than twice as much...outstanding accuracy, detail and nuance..."

"...the new Polk LSi series provides exceptional value for money...[it is] a speaker any music-lover with a real-world budget should consider."

"The LSi15s are a stunningly elegant and graceful adition to any listening room."

"In addition to musical strength, this system provided well resolved highs, transparent midrange and resolute bass."

"...rejoice! The LSi15s provide sonic delights akin to high-end systems that employ higher-end electronics... these new LSi15s are veritable gems with which to play back sound that offers loads of musicality at a moderate cost."

"...the most attractive property this speaker possesses is its top-to-bottom coherence. But, as I listened to disc after disc through the LSi15, it began to dawn on me that I have seldom heard a flatter, less-colored top end."

"For acoustic music, the LSi15 is almost as perfect a speaker as I've heard under $3500."

"In its current LSi series of loudspeakers -- and most specifically in the LSi15 -- Polk is making the finest speakers it has ever manufactured. The LSi15 is an honest design that benefits from the solid engineering and construction that a huge company, such as Polk, can lavish on a project when it sets its mind to it.

The LSi15 sounds balanced and natural, and it's more accurate than many "exotic" speakers that cost a whole lot more. It is good looking and easy to drive. You can certainly spend a lot more on a speaker -- and I'd be the last to suggest that you couldn't buy a better-sounding loudspeaker -- but you'll have to search long and hard before you find one as good as the Polk LSi15 anywhere near its price."

Excerpted from a review of a system comprised of LSi15, LSiC and LSi7

"The new Polk Audio LSi range is positioned as their 'top of their line.' Product goals were based on high quality throughout - sonic performance, aesthetics, build quality and reliability.

There's no question that Polk has met it's goals with these new products; the new tweeter which, almost magically, reproduces a wonderful blend of sweetness, richness and detail, the new, unique drivers reproduce the mids and lows with accurace and authority regardless if you are listening to music or a movie soundtrack. The cabinet, finished in high gloss black and wood is both handsome and robust and boasts intersting solutions for mounting the drivers and tweeter which are connected via high quality dual gold connectors.

It is rare to find such precision, even to the smallest detail in a loudspeaker at these price points and difficult to find any weak points.

The numbering system (Valutazione)
1. Aesthetics - 8 -- a classical line with high gloss and wood materials, the size is rather large (LSi15)
2. Connections - 8 -- Optimal quality dual input connectors allow bi-wiring / bi-amping
3. Construction - 9 -- Robust, attactive cabinetry with exclusive components - difficult to find any weak points
4. Positioning - 7 -- The side-firing LSi15 woofer makes it ideal for use in mid - larger size rooms
5. Audio Quality - 8 -- Superb new tweeter, almost a true subwoofer in the LSi15
6. Quality / Price - 8 -- The components, and overall quality are in line with the performance."

"...the Polk LSi15 gets this year's nod for a moderately priced speaker whose innovative ring tweeter and overall sound quality are a real breakthrough in affordable high-end products. Upper octaves and midrange are outstanding in comparison with many speakers costing more than twice as much, and the bass is very good...Remember the days when the high end was still affordable enough to be fun? Well, they are still here!"

"With acoustic music, the LSi15s had an enveloping sense of presence I've never heard from any speaker even approaching their price point. Their seamless integration of the entire musical spectrum is startlingly even-handed and natural. Feed 'em some hard-driving rock'n'roll or soul or jazz and they'll roar like a lion; feed 'em a soothing folk air and they'll purr like a kitten. And no matter the musical material, the LSi15s delivered its letter and spirit intact.

That's not just pretty good for a speaker under $2000/pair -- that's pretty good for a speaker.

But factor in price and it's darn near miraculous.

So, for living up to the highest ideals of the audiophile sensibility, the Polk LSi15s deserve to be one of onhifi.com's 2002 Products of the Year. And for doing it at such an eminently affordable price, they deserve to be huge."

Excerpts from a review of a home theater system consisting of RTi8, CSi3, RTi4 and PSW303
"...the features of the RTi-Series are not marketing gimmicks, they work -- really well..."
"...the complete set sounds very harmonic, the center and the PSW303 match perfectly to the rest of the system..."
"...one of the highlights of this set is the very good (low) distortion and the power handling..."
"...the internal bracing is very solid, so the are no problems with resonances at all..."
"...the tweeter can handle a lot of power without any distortion..."

Monitor 50

"Wow. The Polk Audio Monitor 50 speakers are a fabulous addition to any home theater system. They are powerful and the sound is so real and rich that they will literally transform the way you feel about watching television at home, not to mention the effect they will have on your movie watching tendencies. The sound is amazing, especially when it comes to watching those big action packed blockbusters—with each bass rumble, you feel like you are actually in the movie."

"The immediate striking impression regards the mid-range, which is absolutely magnificent. Let us simply list the adjectives that came to mind throughout the listening sessions: luminous, transparent, open, ethereal, unbelievably natural, spontaneous, smooth. And lots of others as well………and the corollary of this being the dynamics, which seemed positively excellent- all the more so as the little Polk doesn’t dislike high volumes- and the stereophonic image is sometimes staggering.

So, have we discovered the little marvel able to ridicule loud-speakers costing ten or twenty times its price? When it comes to the mid-range we must say that The Monitor 50 has all it takes to be compared to really high-end speakers!"

For:
Superb mid-range/ open, natural, lively ; fantastic reproduction of voices; sound constantly spontaneous and dynamic; very good respect of rhythm; stereo stage very well-focused; nice presentation.

Against:
No extreme low-range; high-range can be insistent with certain sources or miss-marriages; fragile, un-adjustable feet.

Verdict:
Considering its price, this loud-speaker is without any doubt one of most wonderful discoveries of the last few months. The radiance and precision of the mid-range allow it to reach Excellency!"

"In the world of affordable to moderately-priced speaker systems, there are dozens of major players, yet few have a more recognizable name and longstanding reputation for quality sound than does Polk Audio.

My best advice is to stick with the best-known brands and there are few if any that are more known than Polk Audio. They have been doing this for a long time and this audition showed me why. Their longevity is undoubtedly due to customer loyalty developed over many years of quality products and value. The speakers in this package are solidly constructed, have a good look and perform above their price class. Their sound is one that I would characterize as clear and quite precise..."

"I highly recommend this speaker package to anyone who is looking for quality sound in this price range. It a set-up that will instantly transform your living room into a big time theater for a relatively small amount of money."
