Feed ForwardTM Distortion Suppression

This unique technology extracts the most performance while making your system virtually bulletproof from overdriving. What this means for to you is elimination of performance robbing distortion and increased bass capability from the SurroundBar 360º DVD Theater. This same exclusive Polk technology can be found in our advanced DSW Pro and DSW Micro Pro series of digital subwoofers.

To explain how Feed Forward works, we need to understand that speakers have greater power handing capability in certain areas of the musical spectrum than others. This is particularly true in the bass region. Notice that when a system starts to reach its limit at high volume, it's usually the beat of the bass that causes distortion. That's because bass requires the most amount of power and is the most demanding on a sound system. It's also why woofers are the largest components in the speaker system.

Either the electronics will run out of power first, or the speaker component itself will reach its limit and no longer accept any more power. The result is distortion and eventually component damage. Electronic distortion typically sounds very harsh and brittle, while speaker distortion takes the form of mechanical noise. Feed Forward addresses both of these problems head on.

Feed Forward proactively anticipates distortion and intelligently limits sound the speaker can no longer produce accurately. Advanced Digital Signal Processing then uses the now available power to sections that it can reproduce. The result is clean and reliable output at high volumes. Most competing products do not have any sort of distortion suppression, and those that do use a basic non-intelligent limiter system. Feed Forward distortion suppression technology is far more advanced then others on the market. In normal operation Feed Forward is virtually unnoticeable. In combination with other exclusive Polk technologies such as Power Port, you don't need to use a subwoofer with the SurroundBar 360º DVD Theater.
