SurroundBar SDA® Instant Home Theater
Fast, easy, affordable.
And it crushes those built-in flat panel TV speakers.
Room-Filling Surround—
No Rear Speakers. No Messy Wires.
Don't get us wrong, we love the picture quality of the new flat panel TVs. It's just too bad about the sound. You've got this big, beautiful picture with this puny, anemic audio. Your entertainment experience ends up lacking the depth and excitement bigger, richer, fuller sound brings to TV shows, movies and games. So we asked our engineers to come up with a solution. Make it a no-brainer to hook up, we said. Make it easy to operate. Of course make it sound amazing (we're Polk Audio, after all). And because flat panel TVs are pricey, we told them to make it affordable. Our engineers love it when we beg.
It doesn't take big bucks to enjoy big sound.
The Polk SurroundBar SDA Instant Home Theater is a self-contained powered SurroundBar® SDA® loudspeaker and companion wireless powered subwoofer. We designed it for anyone who's technologically insecure. And we priced it so it won't add to the national debt. It's the most economical (dare we say smart?) way to upgrade your flat panel's built-in speakers to a much, much higher level of performance and enjoy all the benefits of a three-dimensional sound stage.
It connects to your TV in under 5 minutes, but what's the rush?
The SurroundBar SDA IHT works with your remote, the one you're already intimately familiar with (you know, the one with all those buttons that no one knows how to use). It also comes with all the wires you need for hook up - one.
Really, there is no complicated setup or anything else to buy. And you don't have to camouflage multiple speakers, because there are no rear speakers or rear speaker wires. Setup is just this easy:
- Un-box the speaker bar and wireless subwoofer.
- Connect the audio cable (which comes in the box) from your TV to the SurroundBar.
- Plug the bar and wireless subwoofer to electrical power.
- Set the bar in front of your TV (or mount it to the wall).
- Turn it on. You're done!
- How easy is that?
- No, really, you're done.
Polk Digital Logic delivers the drama and the simplicity.
Polk Digital Logic (a combination of Polk's patented SDA® technology and proprietary DSP programming) is how our engineers created the IHT's big sonic performance with no complicated setup or calibration. Like all Polk Audio SurroundBars, the Instant Home Theater's stunning surround sound effects are created independent of any room boundaries so it will work as well in your room as it does in our labs. And as with our other surround bars, Polk SDA technology helps maintain a solid center channel for clear, intelligible dialogue. Combined with Polk Digital Logic you can enjoy dramatic imaging, a three-dimensional sound envelope and, of course, Polk's signature sound--warm, with exceptional immediacy, fullness and clarity.
This wireless subwoofer has a kick no matter where you place it.
The SurroundBar SDA® Instant Home wireless woofer gives you the flexibility to place the woofer anywhere in your room. Plus you'll never have to run expensive and unsightly line level audio cables all around the room. The subwoofer's small size means you can hide it away behind or under furniture. Your room is refreshingly free of clutter. The subwoofer employs a powerful DSP digital amplifier and Polk's Dynamic Balance® Driver Technology for the deep, punchy bass that turns movies, games and TV programs into real gut-pounding thrills.
SurroundBar® Features
Polk's SDA® Surround Sound Technology
Here's what sets SurroundBar speakers apart from the crowd: They do not depend on room acoustics or perfect placement to achieve the desired effect thanks to patented SDA Surround Technology.
SDA stands for Stereo Dimensional Array, a patented Polk Audio exclusive*. Matthew Polk describes SDA Surround Technology as "a mixture of acoustical engineering, psychoacoustic principles and a little magic." Read Matt Polk's SDA Whitepaper for an even more in depth explanation on SDA Surround Technology.
Four models, thousands of uses.
There are four SurroundBar models to fit almost every application. Regardless of which SurroundBar you choose, be prepared to experience full-fledged surround sound from one speaker.
For the easiest application the SurroundBar SDA Instant Home Theater requires only a RCA stereo output from a TV, DVD play, or any source -- no additional electronics or wires are needed. It even comes with a wireless subwoofer and can "self learn" to work with your existing TV remote control.
If you already have a receiver and DVD player, or have your heart set on one, there are two passive SurroundBar models to meet your needs. The original SurroundBar is 42 inches long, while the SurroundBar50 was created to complement today's larger flat panel TVs. Both are available in either black or titanium. Just add a Digital Surround Receiver, a Subwoofer, your TV and you're ready to go!
If you want an easy all-in-one integrated system, and don't plan on using or don't have an existing amplifier, SurroundBar 360º DVD Theater is an all-inclusive Home Theater system that includes a DVD player, AM/FM tuner with integrated amplifier, and universal remote control.

Stunning Simplicity
Installation versatility is designed in. You can wall mount the SurroundBar right below your flat-panel TV. Or use the included cradle on a TV stand, a shelf or for set-top placement. You will experience all the thrills of surround sound...with none of the hassles of running rear speakers.
Look Ma, no rear wires!
Don't hassle with running rear speaker wire all over the place, with the SurroundBar you don't need rear speakers so there are no ugly wires lining your floors and walls.
