Polk Audio Introduces Incredible Sound/Affordable Price db Series Auto Speakers

New Products Include Coaxial and Component System Models

Las Vegas, NV—January 8, 2007— Today at Consumer Electronics Show booth 4622 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Polk Audio announced new and improved models of Polk’s best-selling db Series of automotive and marine aftermarket speakers. Consisting of six full-range round “coaxial” models, three oval coaxials, one “plate” style speaker, two component systems and a single component tweeter, The db Series occupies the “Good” position in Polk's “Good” (db Series), “Better” (Polk/MOMO Series) and “Best” (SR Series) mobile loudspeaker positioning strategy. The db Series emphasis is performance well beyond that normally offered at the price along with easy drop-in fit.

Multi-Hole Mounting Pattern and shallow depth makes for Polk’s highest vehicle application ratio for easy drop-in installations in practically any car on the road. The new for 2007 db Series adds three sizes not offered in the previous db line: a 3-1/2 inch diameter coaxial, a 4x6 plate-style speaker and a 6-1/2 inch Slim Mount coaxial for easy fit into shallow doors. The 6-1/2 inch sized db651, db651S and db6501 models come with 6-3/4 inch adaptor rings for easy fit in VWs, Audis, BWMs and other European cars.

The db models have been styled with “tuner” automotive enthusiasts in mind—from the wheel style grilles to the textured driver cones, db says “hot car.” But Polk's db series offers much more than great styling. The full force of Polk Audio’s award-winning engineering went into developing high performance to match the cosmetics. All of the components in the db Series benefit from Polk’s Dynamic Balance technology that stems from a joint research project between Johns Hopkins University's Center for Non Destructive Evaluation and Polk Audio.

As the db Series products that this line replaces, the new db Series have been built tough to withstand the rigors of exposure to the sun, water and salt to earn Marine Certified status. db Series speakers are perfect for use in boats of all types; that's why Correct Craft® offers Polk Audio speakers in their award-winning Nautiques® ski and wakeboarding boats and Bullet® uses Polk db speakers in their marine “tower” speaker enclosures.

All db coaxial models feature a 19mm Silk/Polymer composite Dome Tweeter at price points where 12mm tweeters are usually offered; db owners will enjoy greater power handling as well as clearer, more detailed high frequency response. db component systems offer a full 1-inch tweeter dome – the same size found in high priced systems. db delivers real value.
