- Excellent sound isolation. - Low and high frequencies aren't overly emphasized.
- Low impedance (24 ohms) - Very small sound stage - The weight makes them bit uncomfortable when worn for extended periods
I bought a brown pair of the Buckle headphones almost on impulse soon after they released. The design and build quality are exactly what I've been looking for in a casual set of headphones. I've had my days where I just wanted a flashy set of headphones that simply looked cool, but instead of looking flashy I've gone to looking classy with these cans. I really enjoy the down-to-earth look these headphones have. As far as sound quality goes, I've yet to completely burn them in, but so far I've really been enjoying them. These have more of an honest sound and don't over-exaggerate low and high frequencies, though a bit of emphasis was put into the low and low-mid frequencies. One of the major reasons why I bought these headphones is they do an amazing job of isolating sound. Very little sound leaks out of these headphones even when played at higher volumes, which is why I like closed-back headphones so much. Even though the closed-back design inevitably affects the sound stage, I felt that this was an absolute must-have for me. So don't feel bad if you want to turn these up in a crowded library. This may or may not be a problem for others, but I did want to make note that these headphones have an impedance of 24 ohms. This is just a personal preference, but I really enjoy higher impedance headphones, given how they are less susceptible to distortion at higher volumes. This is one of the major reasons why I gave a 4-star instead of a 5-star rating. However, since most people aren't using high end desktops with a headphone amp, this could actually be a wonderful thing for the majority of people purchasing these. One other thing I noticed so far is how these weigh just a bit more than my other headphones. I find myself having to take them off once in a while just to let my ears rest for a little. So if you plan on wearing these for extended periods at a time, these may fall short when it comes to comfort. Personally, I'm used to using the Sony MDR-7506 and the Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro, which are both fairly lightweight. I don't think this will be a problem for me as days go by and I continue to use these headphones more consistently, but I don't think this should be completely ignored. Overall, I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a set of stylish and more mature looking headphones. Sound quality is great, sound isolation is great, and the build quality is something I feel other headphone manufacturers need to take notes on. These guys know what they're doing, and as a first-time buyer of Polk headphones, they've really left an excellent first impression.Polk Audio really nailed this one on the head.
