The Simple Choice For Surround Performance
For your small to mid-sized home theater, the new F/X300i is the right choice. It's small size and big performance raises the bar for value and utility in bi-directional surround speakers.
The F/X300i features:
- Dynamic Balance® composite driver for wide response and low distortion
- Twin timbre matched silk dome tweeters on opposing baffles for spacious and enveloping surround effects
- Switchable Dipole/Bipole operation for the greatest placement flexibility
- Built-in wall bracket for easy wall mounting
- Timbre matched to other Polk speakers for seamless, lifelike imaging
- Bass response to below 80Hz assures optimum performance in discrete channel Dolby Digital (AC-3) surround systems
- Available in Black or White finish
- 5-way binding post inputs for the most convenient and secure wire connections
Surround speakers go behind you, or to the rear left and right sides of your home theater room (depending on your seating location and room layout). They envelop you in sound, especially in today's discrete multi-channel digital world. Good surround effects add to the realism of your home theater experience, and put you and your family right in the center of the action!
What is "Dipole/Bipole"?
The more "diffuse" the surround sound field, the less the listener is able to pinpoint the action, resulting in a more realistic, enveloping surround sound experience, especially when it's necessary to mount the speakers close to the listening area. For the ultimate in rear surround, choose speakers with a choice of sound field patterns, both BiPole and DiPole. Polk's new F/X300i, F/X500i and F/X1000 let you choose BiPole or DiPole at the flick of a switch depending on the speaker's placement. Place them where they look best in your home theater, and then select the pattern that provides optimum sound for you.

Review:
Incredible spaciousness and great value for the money. Used in a small room home theatre set-up. Matched up to RT800i in the front. If I knew they were that good, I would have bought the F/X 500 model.

Review:
I hesitated before I sent in a review as I had them on rear speaker stands and felt the RT55s overpowered them. I read the booklet that came with them and installed them on the wall to the side of the viewing area and whoala the system is complete - they sound great - paired with the RT55s, psw350, and CS245 - great sound in a small package.

After alot of searching for rear channel speakersa, i have settled on the f/x300's. They have amazing sound quality for the price and I can say this, you will be hard pressed to find a better rear channel speaker for the money

They are great to have the bi/dipole set up to fill in the hall way gap that opens to my dinning ang sitting area from the family room.
Weaknesses:
Are you kidding? My system is all Polk and it sings as good as my B&W 802 Matrix series III; and perform as good as JBL, L300 with Jardis.
Review:
I have two pairs of these little guys and a pair of psw 250 subs to extend the bass to 40 hz. for the sides. While I have a pair of Rt20ps in the front with a pair of PSW404 subs; and a pair of RT350 at the back crossed with another pair of PSW404. I run the system with a Rotel processor and four carver power amps. The imaging is excellent, especially I have set them up as "big Speakers" at the processor, after I have crossed them with the PSW250 individually from the speaker's wires.

Overall diffused sound quality.
Weaknesses:
No indication in manual or on the speaker which is the left or right speaker. Dispertion field is limited due to the two waves radiating from opposite sides of the diaphragm and are mutually out of phase, they begin to cancel one another at lower frequencies, which results in degraded bass response.
Review:
I initially purchased these as my primary surrounds. They are good when using Pro Logic sound processing and for filling "holes" in the listening field with dipole rediation. For dynamic surround or just overall music listening they just dont do the job. For the money better capabilities exist. I changed to RC85i's and put the dipoles as presence speakers. The difference is tremendous.

"...a highly adaptable virtuoso performer... Judged on its own, the f/x300i is an excellent-sounding and highly versatile speaker. My estimation of this nimble little surround increased when it was used as part of an all-Polk system.
