Great Sound Anywhere You Want It
Polk Audio All-Weather Loudspeakers deliver exceptional sound quality in ANY environment. High-quality construction gives them the moxie to endure full exposure to the elements with virtual impunity.
There are plenty of so-called "weather resistant" or "outdoor" speakers on the market. They're lining the shelves of your neighborhood Home Improvement Center. But Polk Audio All-Weather Loudspeakers are the real thing. Their sealed polymer cabinets are rugged, UV resistant and impervious to water. They won't fade, crack or warp no matter where they're installed. Their gold plated input terminals, non-metallic grilles and UV resistant components make Polk AW/M speakers the ultimate "survivor" of the speaker industry.
The AW/M2 features:
- Sealed polymer cabinets and non-metallic grilles that will not rust, crack or warp
- Polk's exclusive Dynamic Balance technology for wide response and low distortion
- Built-in wall mount bracket for easy installation
- Overload Protection Circuit prevents tweeter damage when you want to play it really loud
- Gold plated input terminals will not rust
- UV and moisture resistant rubber driver surrounds will not rot like cheap foam surrounds
- Paintable cabinet so you can paint the AW/M2 to blend into any outdoor surroundings

Durable, good sound for size.
For price range, none. Not for setups where shielding needed, not for use as budget-system front spkrs unless you have a sub.
I don't use these outdoors. I went back to stereo after trying surround, and I needed "B" spkrs for my stereo rcvr (have larger "A" spkrs for music) that would fit on my telescoping satellite stands. Not used for music, just talk radio, sports broadcasts, rare late nite music listening (I live in apt). I did try them with music at higher volumes & liked what I heard, altho bass was what you'd expect. For the frequency range covered, the sound is good. I don't know what the competition is in this market niche, but these seem to better speakers than your typical mini-speakers found in many 5 sat/1 sub systems at major chains. However, they are not shielded. I believe a shielded version was also made.

I have had these just over a year now and one of the woofers has already died. Using high quality equipment and wire to run these, and while these are used outdoors, it is in a sheltered envirnment in the Southern United States. (hardley extreme) I am a huge fan of the Polk sound quality as I continue to pick Polk out of sound line ups, but the durability of these are ridiculous. I had the same thing happen to some in wall speakers after a year and a half.

Good overall range reproduction. Semi-attractive. Fair price.
Brackets (plastic) broke on both speakers, but Polk replaced them with metal ones free of charge.
For outdoor speakers, these sound very good. I've listened to models from several makers, and the M2s sound as good, if not better, than most in the same price range. It is important to remember that outdoors sound disperses differently than indoors. Bass response, for example, will be more difficult to detect than in a carpeted or panelled room. Still, these speakers give good range for their driver size. Bottom line-recommended.
