Sub enclosures offer a nice, neat little package when it comes to installing a subwoofer in your vehicle. Tuck the enclosure away, wire it up and you’re good to go. Now take two 12-inch woofers, add a healthy dose of Polk features and technology, and you’ve got truly jaw-dropping bass that’s just flat out nasty fun.

We’d like to say we won’t bore with the details. But sometimes making a sub better is all about the details. Such is the case with our dual 12-inch sub enclosures. We took what we knew worked from our db212, did a little refining to make this next generation more impressive, then added even more blow-you-away performance. The result is just plain nasty. Which is good.
db1222 Features:
Huge power handling 720 Watts continuous and 1500 Watts peak!
Front loaded slot port provides thunderous bass and allows greater air displacement then round port designs.
Extensively braced trapezoidal MDF enclosure eliminates performance-robbing box flex. dB1222 is 32-inches W x 14-inches H x 15-inches D at the top and 18-inches D at the bottom and weighs 88 lbs.
Nickel plated heavy duty input terminals accommodate speaker wire up to 8 AWG or twisted pairs of 12 AWG.
Viscoelastic isolation damping between the baffle and cabinet prevent any unwanted vibrations or buzzes when the subwoofer is driven hard.
Rugged automotive grade black carpet provides an attractive and durable enclosure finish.
Heavy duty automotive grade ABS grilles provide awesome looks but also protection for the woofers.
Paintable grilles and baffle looks great as is, or may be matched to your vehicle’s color.
2 ohm impedance uses subwoofer amplifier power most effectively.
Klippel optimized components using a state-of-the-art Klippel distortion analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the woofer’s motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.
Dynamic Balance® composite woofer cones feature tremendous stiffness-to-mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.
High-roll santoprene rubber surrounds provides reliability in the temperature extremes of a vehicle.
Fire retardant NOMEX® inner suspension increases reliability while providing extended cone travel.

For what they are worth, nothing on the market, in my personal oppinion, beats it! Think about it a pounding 2-12" polk for the price of a JL W6. And the W6 alone will not produce what the DB1222 will.
Weaknesses:
None that I can find. Execpt loosen all the bolts in a vehicle! Then again that is not a weakness but a matter of self-control! lol
Review:
I have purchased 2 of these bad boys both connected to the Polk PA1200.1 amp. BTW this amplifier is amazing! It is actually strong enough to fry both DB1222's! This is really what we call BANG FOR THE BUCK! Not recommended for subsonic SPL level comp though. I found the voice coil heats up fast at levels of 60hz and under. Then again these are only the DB's if you want to go all the way then consider the SR's.

Installed these Polk DB woofers in my Volvo 940 stationwagon,I`ve had more expensive woofers from Rockford and Pioneer but i think these beats them all.I honest think this package from Polk is maybe the bass-package where you get most for the money today in the marked.I was looking on almost 10 different subwoofers and i`m very very satisfied. Using a JBL mono ampflier with 700w.

WOW these things are amazing!!! I have a rockford fosgate T1500-1bd amp running these. my amp is putting out 1054 amps at the 2 ohms and wow these things hit hard. They are very clear and yet have good hard hit and rumbles where it should be. my new set up is the hardest hitting set up I have ever felt. I had to put weather stripping foam in between my liscens plate mounting bracket and the plate itself to stop the rattling. only thing to truly say is AMAZING!!!

I got this package this summer and it is by far one of the best systems I ever heard. I got a kicker 300.1 monoblock amp hooked up in a 1994 ford aspire hatchback and it bangs so loud. I am about to purchase another pair and put all four in the hatchback.

these polk audio subwoofers are great nice hard base which means great for a back massage for the person in the back seat. I was pushing these subs with a 1000 watts db polk audio amp and also 1000 watts 4 channel for my mids great performance.

These subs are amazing. I've had Kickers, I've had JL Audio, I've had Kenwood, but I've never had ANYTHING that hit as hard, and sounded as good as these. I would recommend them to anyone looking for earth rattling bass, and just good, loud, clean sound.

best subs for the money! cant be beat!!!! i got these this beast hooked up with a kicker kx500.2 amp in a 98 explorer and its insane how hard they hit. im asked all the time about what kind of 15s im pushing. no no no polk db 12s. mite add another set this summer.

Bought the db1222 from fry's electronics I purchased the MTX JH600 which does 600watts @ 2ohms and which is very under rated for these subs 720watts @ 2 ohms. while tuning the amp to the box I only had the amp turned 1/4 of the way up, and I smelled what seemed to be an electrical fire, I thought it was the amp but to my surprise it was the subs they were smoking pretty bad out of the ported enclosure. I returned the subs to fry's and will never purchase polk subs again, I do love my polk component speakers however.

These are exelent woofers. Ive had them for about 6 months now and had no problems. I hooked up a JL Audio 700 watt rms amp to these and they blew me away. Sadly im upgrading and selling them. Go to Northern MI craigs list to see my ad. and save some $.

wish it would handle more power? :) had to put in some sound deadening in the trunk and my rear view mirror is useless with these cranked

Great bang for the buck. I also got these at Fry's and have them paired with a Rockford Fosgate Punch 600.1bd pushing 650-700rms and they can get loud. No smoke here but I watch the bass knob and if I start to smell coil I back off. Gain was set using a DMM to try and avoid clipping.

I've had these babies for about a year and a half after seeing how much power my brother's had. For this price, you cannot beat it. I have had people who have paid hundreds more than me from subs and amps, and they wonder all the time why mine sound so loud, yet has such an amazing solid tone. I listen to just about every kind of music, and it doesn't matter whether it's dubstep or classic rock, these can handle anything. I cannot see myself even upgrading from these unless I was getting JL Audio's or something of the like, I am that pleased. Anyone who says this thing cant handle power is definitely screwing something up in the wiring or picked a bad person to install their subs or doesn't understand how to install correctly. My brother has run his with a 1800w Kenwood monoblock amp for multiple years and has never had an issue. I run mine with a 1000w Hifonics monoblock and have also had no troubles. In fact, I know about 5 people with these subs, and there has never been a single instance of overpowering or destruction of the voice coil I'd suggest a remote for your amp though, as you'll get pulled over within a few days if you don't have the ability to turn it down quickly

Im only using a 2ch 500 watt amp and let me say one thing.. these are LOUD! Every orifice in your body will vibrate. Nothing is safe even my taint hairs were vibrating.

Possible ear damage.

Bought this on sale for $150 yesterday at Frys.The guy said he had 2 in stock n he would brb with a cart cuz this box is heavy (90lbs).
