Incredible Sound/Affordable Price
Really good stuff at a really good price is where it's at. So we took really good stuff, grabbed it by the neck, held it down and force-fed it Creatine and Ginko Biloba. We mixed it up with patented Polk technologies and a reckless desire for big volume output. We created speakers with better performance, bigger volume and better value -- the db Series. db Series is classic Polk Audio: outrageous performance and durability at a price that will please your wallet.
The db460 technologies and features:
- Dynamic Balance Polymer/Mica Composite Mineral Filled Cone is stiff yet lightweight for big sound, little distortion.
- Marine Certified Polk db Series speakers are built tough to withstand the toughest environments so they are perfect for use in boats of all types. That's why Correct Craft offers Polk Audio speakers in their award-winning Nautiques ski and wakeboarding boats.
- 19mm Liquid-Cooled Silk/Polymer composite Dome Tweeter with Neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs.
- High and low pass filters (Crossovers), deliver clearer, more accurate midrange and glare-free highs, with more natural-imaging than other speakers in this class that use single stage high-pass only filters.
- Low-mass 2-Layer 25mm Kapton Voice Coil former is lightweight for high sound output. Kapton's high melting temperature (725°F/400°C!) ensures high power handling and kick-butt reliability.
- Durable Butyl Rubber Surround won't fall apart under the stress of extreme temperatures, sunlight or time, for years of the great Polk sound.
- Pole Plate Heat Sink promotes better heat dissipation for superior power handling and reliability.
- Flat Spider for faster, longer excursion linear motion.
- Flexible Woven Leads sewn directly into Spider for greater reliability.
- Polarized Nickel Plated Terminals on PCB terminal board for simple, secure wire connections.
- Rock solid, acoustically inert Stamped Steel Basket finished in rustproof Gun Metal Gray.
- One year parts & labor warranty.

Weaknesses:
a little distortion but not much
Review:
Polk just does it again, their new line of Db is exactly what I wanted. These puppies give the bass im looking for and they go all around the driver seat and I can actually feel it all around. Talk about quality, for the price these things are great. Polk is amazing!!!

Best 4x6's I sampled in my long hunt for my ideal car stereo setup. The highs are piercing, and each note is crystal clear. No comparison to the stock speakers I had.

Good sound and a great mounting plate.
Weaknesses:
Too deep for some older Chevy cars. They require almost no basket or magnet depth.
Review:
Good for a 4 x 6 You won't get big boom boom bass but what do you want from a small speaker?

Great sound for the price, well worth it.
Weaknesses:
They don't quite fit well in the back piler of older ('91) Chevy pickups and don't fit at all in the front. Had to go with Polk GXR46 for the front.
Review:
Have a nice sound for the size. Great highs and ample mid and low range for 4X6 speakers. I get a little distortion at high volume with 25 watts RMS, but that may be from the stock trim panels rattleing.

Great highs and mids. Polk is just great stuff!
Weaknesses:
Bass was pretty quiet at 23 watts. I'm running them off my deck. Gonna try an amp to push em, but I guess they are small speakers.
Review:
Got a 2000 Chevy S-10. I replaced my stock dash speakers and the Polk's fit...but barely. It was the magnet that got in the way. Hopefully, a little bending of the frame won't hurt these speakers. I doubt it.

crisp highs nice midrange best speaker in its class.
Weaknesses:
the only weakness i did find with these 4x6 is they will distort at high volume you can keep your bass on -6 and treble flat but they will still distort but i guess thats why polk built the 4x6 plate for the hard core listeners like me.
Review:
these polk audio are pretty good for the money great highs nice midrange. i have heard a lot of full range speakers but i will have to say polk audio full range speakers are the best ive heard it just has a sound like no other there highs are like none ive ever heard i have to take my hat off to the people at polk audio you all are awesome keep up the good work.
Polk Response:
The distortion you are experiencing is typical of small (under 6.5") drivers trying to reproduce bass. Bass Blockers filter out frequencies that the speaker cannot gracefully or safely reproduce, thereby decreasing distortion and increasing power handling. Simply insert a 50V capacitor in series with the driver. For the db460 a 300 Mfd (Micro Farad) cap is the right value. Capacitors can be purchased at electronic parts supply houses and most car stereo specialty stores.

Smooth highs and full midrange
Weaknesses:
The mounting depth makes it hard to fit in my '91 Chevy Silverado, but you can make it work.
Review:
Little story- I have become a big fan of these little 4 X 6 s I got from you guys. I got some Pioneer's for Christmas(not my first choice) to replace my ageing Polk dash speakers. Traded them out just for newness sake and decided after my first listen that I couldn't live with this. So now, My Polk's are in my dash doing everything from 250 HZ and up (three way system) and those pioneer's are back in the box and being returned for store credit. Overall review- For what I am using these little speakers for they do the job near perfectly. They won't handle the frequencies below 180 at all at loud volume, but thats the reason man made the low-mid and Subwoofer. They are a little harsh around 2.5 khz(very easily fixed with a little EQ off my deck), but thats probably just personal preference. Couldn't neccesarily ask for better sound.

great highs and mids, sound studio quality
Weaknesses:
had to put bass blockers to extend the life and improve the sound quality
Review:
these sound great in my 93 chevy. they cant handle the bass, but that is why i have two twelves. the highs and the mids sound awesome, well worth the seventy dollars i paid. the pioneers that i had couldn't hold up and blew, and ended up being replaced by these.

With limited choices for a dash speaker, these sounded far and above the best! Excellent sound quality, and good wattage capability!

Couldnt ask for better highs or mids. My 94 Chevy truck puts anyone in my school to shame on highs and mids.
Weaknesses:
Its only a 4*6 so it cant handle much bass, but i have bigger speakers in the back for that.
Review:
The Clarity and Smoothness of the treble cant be matched!!! i have my polks hooked up to a sony xplod cd player and no matter how loud i turn it the treble WILL NOT distort.

Alot of treble, good if you turn up subs, loud speakers, looks greak!
Weaknesses:
Full sound stage not present. Sound not full and clear as Alpines. Mids are weak.
Review:
I replaced my back speakers with Alpines and later replaced my front speakers with Polks because they were on sale. The speaker looks very nice, but I noticed an unbalaced sound. The highs were too loud, especially on the vocals in songs. There was not very strong mids either, which make them more difficult to listen to at high volumes and are harder on ears. In comparison with the alpines (when I lean the front seat back) I prefer the Alpines.
