I bought these speakers for my seat convertible, they do distort as u bring up the volume, but after awhile u realize that its the amp collapsing, the built in crossover helped solve this, however they def need a good amp.

Highs are good but could go on the deeper end a little more.but they are 5 and a 1/4's for a reason I suppose!!! All in all VERY decent speakers for a filler!!!

Great highs well built If your amp sucks so will your sound I ran these on a high end tube amp and also a 150 amp Carver and they will take all the clean power there rated for. No Distortion if your amp is clean so is your sound
Weaknesses:
Not really a weakness but the typical low limits of a 5 1/4" speaker bass was still decent...
Review:
These are very good speakers very crisp and handle power well I read keep reading reviews about distortion and people need to know speakers don't distort Amps do. If your having distortion with these speakers you need a better amp.

When i first tried it out for the first time i was amazed how clear sounding it was.. So far i have it connected to a cheap chinese amp pushing out 40 rms of power. The chinese Amp has a higher rated distortion rating compared to other amps but these db521 played crisp and clear let alone bass is very good for 5 1/2. I assume it would even sound better in a car thogh... mines is mounted into my back pack XD
