The compact db840DVC comes with all the Polk goodies that make this a great entry level mobile audio subwoofer for installs on land or sea. And because its a dual voice coil configuration, you have lots of wiring options for matching your amplifier’s capabilities.
db840DVC Features:
“Dish” polypropylene cone supported by a vented cone/coil coupler stiffens the cone for greater mechanical stability and lower distortion.
Marine Certified Polk db Series speakers are built tough to withstand the toughest environments so they are perfect for use in boats of all types. That’s why Correct Craft offers Polk speakers in their award-winning Nautiques ski and wakeboarding boats.
Santoprene surround is impervious to extremes in temperature, humidity and exposure to sunlight for excellent long term reliability.
Fire-retardant flat NOMEX® spider allows extended linear motion while providing highly reliable mechanical and thermal stability.
Triple venting of the 4-layer Kapton voice coil former, cone/coil coupler and pole piece contribute to the high power handling and reliability of the db Series subs.
As with all Polk subwoofers, the voice coil alignment, motor and suspension were optimized using a state-of-the-art Klippel laser analyzer. The result is superior cone travel linearity for flatter response and lower distortion.

Optional db8G grille is available.

Fast, accurate and very linear response. plays 50hz and lower frequencies very well. would think that it is a much larger woofer

can't afford to buy enough :P. honestly. there are no faults i can pick out.

WOW!!!!! One of the best 8" speakers i have ever heard. I am running 2 of these in stereo and the response is near perfect. they play very low and exceptionally fast in a free air environment on my parcel shelf. I will be moving to a custom boot enclosure and be purchasing another of these for the rear shelf. 10/10. a brilliant subwoofer

Best that I have install in a longtime great range from 37 to 60 Hz with a solid and clean base note everytime me and my staff install 4 of these subs in a dual ported enclosed band pass box with 8 triangle ports at 12 inches long at 1ohm with polks 1000/1 amp it use very little power and was amazed by the sound tuned at about 37 to 40 HZ it produced a solid and reliable base thump that shook the whole shop we will remain useing Polk Audio because of its craftsmanship Master Installer.
