Room-Filling Bass from a Compact Subwoofer
Smaller room? Smaller speaker system? Gaming or movie theater lacking thrills and effects? The compact, high power DSWPRO400 goes practically anywhere, even inside of audio furniture or rack systems, takes up less than a cubic foot of room real estate, and delivers a superior small-sub experience. Smooth blending with any system, big bass effects and deep low frequency dynamics, all benefit from resonance-free Dynamic Balance® tuning and heavy duty build quality.
DSWPRO400 Features:
DSWPRO Series enclosures are designed and engineered for perfect volume, minutely tuned for distortion-free low frequencies, and internally braced and damped to eliminate internal standing waves and other performance-robbing resonances.
Polk Audio intelligent amplifiers require less power to sound great, use power more efficiently, offer bullet-proof reliability, minimal heat generation and even know when to stand down (especially at low volumes or in “Standby” mode).
Feed forward distortion suppression technology enables us to set our performance limits much higher than normal, much closer to the actual (theoretical) maximum output of the subwoofer, with no risk of excessive distortion or damage.
With the DSWPRO Series, you can choose one of four preset "room optimizers" from the remote controller, and Polk's exclusive PRO™ technology programs in the optimal bass and blending setting for your room.
Our state-of-the-art Klippel distortion analyzer makes it possible to optimize the woofer’s motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for smooth, unimpeded movement over a broad spectrum of the lower frequencies and ensures the best, most efficient performance even at extreme listening levels.
DSWPRO Series subwoofers feature Dynamic Balance® materials and construction elements that help them perform effortlessly in high stress, big bass situations when you need them most.
Composite polypropylene cones create greater efficiency and more cone control, while durable rubber surrounds provide superior damping, free range of motion, and don't rot like cheap foam surrounds.
DSWPRO subwoofers can be arranged with their feet forward or down, for standard downward-firing position or innovative front-firing mode (you can snap on the grille and it looks smart), allowing you to place the subwoofer just about anywhere, even inside audio furniture or a rack system.
The unique slot-loaded port design of the DSWPRO Series adds significantly more port surface area, for deeper, smoother bass response even in a smaller cabinet size; special tuning eliminates unwanted chuffing and air turbulence at the mouth of the slot-loaded port, for distortion-free bass.
You'll never have to leave your seat while you adjust your subwoofer to its optimum performance level, because at your fingertips you have feedback from the blue status LED, four-way phase selection for easy blending with your main speakers and full control of the Polk Room Optimizer (PRO).
LFE, line level inputs and outputs and 5-way binding posts for speaker level inputs afford easy connection to any system.
Your DSWPRO Series subwoofer has the colossal power to wake the house and all your neighbors, so a "Night Mode" setting, toggled from the remote control, temporarily lowers the sub's intensity.
DSWPRO Series subwoofers blend perfectly with systems composed of other Polk Audio loudspeakers; build the system of your dreams, then add the perfectly blended, deep musical low end that takes it over the top!
Use adjustable rubber feet for hard surface flooring, and adjustable carpet spikes for carpet, both options give you more placement flexibility and a totally dependable, more efficiently stable setup.
All Polk Audio products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk Audio loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Tight, powerful bass.
Weaknesses:
Not that I've found.
Review:
This little box is awesome. I never would have believed that an 8 inch subwoofer could deliver so much sound pressure in my 24x14 foot room, and that's with the volume set at the midpoint! It puts out magnificent tight bass that sounds great with both music and home theater. I thought my RTi10s might overwhelm it, but that is certainly not the case. I would highly recommend this subwoofer to anyone.

not overbearing remote

Review:
I recently upgraded speakers to Polk RTi-A3's (front) and smaller Polks on the wall (rear). I was still using an old Audiosource sub, figuring that a sub is a sub, what's the difference? So, off to Tweeter I went to check subs out. I auditioned the DSWPRO400 and the PSW110. The DSWPRO400 won. Listening to music, it blends really well with the RTi-A3's, is crisp, precise and punchy, (not boomy or muddy like with the old sub). For movies I use the remote to turn it up a bit and it does just what it's supposed to. It's not a house shaker, just great bottom.

My DWS Pro 400 was an outstanding addition to my audio system. I buoght this subwoofer to replace a small one and wow! What a difference it make. I checked out three or four other name brands before buying the 400 and from the start it far sounded better then the competition. This is a great subwoofer.

Solid, natural, musical sound. Hard hitting. Low frequency response. Very well built. Sound parametes and remote are very useful and deliver as advertised. Incredible bang for the buck!
Weaknesses:
None! Buy it!
Review:
This is one outstanding subwoofer! I bought this sub as a second sub to place under a coffee table around the main listener/viewer area in my living room. It outperforms my main sub which is a 12", 300 watt rms sub from another manufacturer! I could not be happier with the way this thing sounds for both music and movies. I am an ex drummer and I love the way this sub produces natural, lifelike, and hard hitting bass for all types of music. For movies it produces very low frequencies. The remote control and digital parameters arte also very functunal and useful. The presets make a big difference in performance and I'm happy to report it's not a gimmick! Polk audio rocks. Do yourself a favor and check out this sub, and for the price, well it just can't be beat.

Sound, solid construction, and multi-faceted remote capability really makes this a great unit for both straight audio and A/V use.
Weaknesses:
The stand-by option doesn't appear to work. The DSW 400 doesn't "turn-on" when a signal hits it. I will try wiring it to front channels also to see if this helps.
Review:
I really enjoy my DSW Pro 400 speaker. Great low frequency sound, without "low rider" vibration. Nice cross-over frequency exchange and with many set up options. Works extremely well with my high end Yamaha Receiver and Polk surround speakers.

Kicks butt for only 8" sub.Option of being convertable a plus.Multiple inputs a plus. The PRO room optimizer ,now someone was on the ball when they come up with that one , and ALL the capabilities of adjustment from the remote. Somebody is awake at Polk.
Weaknesses:
Flashing blue light 'TINKER TOY STUFF"Fast flash TO fast.Rather have red L.E.D. number I can activate with remote to know vol. setting.Carpet spikes way to short. Optional grills pricey. Should have come as part of the sub. package. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the stupid flashing light. The fast flash is TOO FAST.
Review:
Exceptional quality.Multiple options for hook up make it a winner.I am running Polk RTiA9's and Carver amps. I thought it sounded fantastic. After adding 2 subs didn't realize what I had been missing. Now it sounds EXCEPTIONAL! The neon blue around the logo looks really cool in dimly lit room.I am using down firing on 2 channel and don't think I will convert it. I fear forward firing may be to exsesive. I bought the optional grills just in case. If I get bored some day I may convert it just to give it a fair try out, and then decide.

Too many to list. Tight response, easy adjustment, power for days.
Weaknesses:
None. I'm trying, but I've got nothing here.
Review:
This is what I always wanted in a home subwoofer. I'm running a pair of RTi6's through a Marantz 2270 and I originaly skimped on the sub by purchasing a PSW10. I'm not going to slam that sub because it is as advertized - an entry level Polk sub. However, I constantly found myself pulling the sub around to adjust the controls on the back. I was rarely able to blend it with my fronts. A lot of the time I just turned it off. The DSW 400 on the other hand, is seamless almost out of the box. The remote is the piece de resistance. I can list all of the reasons to buy this sub, but I'll save you the time and just say this: If you are considering a sub and have the money for a model like this, Buy this sub! Don't waste your time trying to figure out if it is the right one for you. If you can afford it, it is.
