Build quality is superb at this price point. Ability to change down firing or forward firing.
Weaknesses:
None at this time.
Review:
Not the last name in subwoofers, but for the price, especially if you get it on sale, you can't beat the sound and quality build of this subwoofer. Fairly easy to set up, the build quality is superb, blends well with other equipment. There is certainly alot of competition at this price point, and I don't believe it will satisfy the hardline audiophile, but for most this would a great choice on a budget.

Power, response and clarity. Can't beat this sub for music!
Weaknesses:
Front-firing position (better for music) means controls/connections are underneath the sub and remote no longer works. Frequent noise complaints from neighbors.
Review:
This thing is a beast! Once you set it up with your speakers it transitions seamlessly into the frequency spectrum. Only now you'll have unlimited power round the bottom. This sub will shake the house but is still responsive enough for sharp attacks like kick-drum. As someone who only uses it for music, I can say the 550 excels at everything, from dubstep to techno to jazz. Even for loud house parties, it has all the power you could wish for. Like any home audio component, you'll have to set it up for optimal performance. Which leads to my main complaint. The sub is designed for downward firing position, i.e. the cone underneath the sub, firing at the floor. While this may be great for home theater, I prefer front firing mode for music. You can easily switch to front firing mode, but all controls and connections will then be inaccessibly hidden underneath the sub. The remote control receiver, normally in front, will now face up, meaning the remote won't work. So set-up is a mild annoyance, but the reward is worth the effort. In sum, I would buy it again immediately and will recommend it to anyone. For music, I recommend front firing mode and the purchase of an IR repeater and cover grill.

Lots of low end power and very easy to set up. The remote is an additional bonus.
Weaknesses:
Can't use it when the kids are asleep
Review:
Attractive clean looks and serious punch for home theater. I have found that I have to turn it down for some music selections.. I am using it with the wireless connection, which is very handy as it allows a location I couldn't use otherwise. Everyone in the house loves it except the cats, which regard it as something that may attack them.

Versatility, accurate, remote, wireless, 4 preset EQ settings, 4 phase settings, inputs, looks
Weaknesses:
Wireless kit must be purchased separately, would like to see a band frequency adjustment EQ to help notch out the floor-to-ceiling room mode that does not yield to placement or other remedies
Review:
DSW PRO 550wi Sub Review Over the last year I spent a lot of time with this subwoofer. It has been used in various rooms, with different speakers, a few different pieces of gear and in both down firing and front firing configurations. The strong point of this subwoofer in my opinion is versatility. Engineered to excel in any given room placement option, with the flexibility of wireless transmission. Pleasantly surprising is the ability to handle music with accuracy and finesse when dialed in properly. Make sure to read the manual for set-up and options, but also take the time to read online subwoofer set-up procedures and learn about Low Frequency Room Response and Q. When this subwoofer is properly set-up, bass should sound like it is coming only from the main L and R speakers. The subwoofer should not draw attention to itself. That is exactly what this sub can do and still provide that bass that sounds real. Authoritative - yet smooth.
