EX Series II full range and coaxial speakers are an ideal combination of high performance and "drop-in" flexibility. That's 'cause Polk designed the EX Series II with multi-hole mounting patterns and extremely low profiles to ensure an easy fit into virtually any factory speaker location.
The EX502a features:
- Liquid Crystal Polymer driver cones for better performance and reliability
- Butyl rubber surrounds for better performance and greater reliability
- Ferro-magnetic fluid cooled tweeters for high SPL
- Low profile design to ensure a perfect fit in a wide variety of locations

EXII speakers use materials that are usually found only in speakers costing much more. The butyl rubber surrounds help give them smooth midrange and extended bass response, and won't tear or crack like foam rubber surrounds found in other brands. The polymer composite cones in the midranges and woofers are moisture resistant and light -- yet extremely rigid for lightning quick response with extremely low distortion.

SOUNDSTAGE!!!!!!!Midrange that is clear and open.Highs that can be revealing with the right electronics
Weaknesses:
Bass,but what do you expect from some 5 1/4" woofers????
Review:
I was thinking about rating these lower than I did.I changed my mind when I remembered the fact that I purchased these originally because they would fit my cars limited door space perfectly and I couldn't find any other Polks that did.My car got stolen and when I got it back three of the four were blown.I went through a LOT of trouble to locate these exact ones again,as they had been discontinued.Found them new on eBay and have ponce again been enjoying them for their clear,open soundstage.Nothing against Bose factory speakers(well the newer ones-the old original ones in the GM cars that did the direct/reflecting thing were VERY different and in my opinion MUCH better),but whenever I listen to those systems I miss the sound of mine.the midrange is muddy and foggy on the Bose systems.You cannot really hear the stereo imaging left to right and vice versa on those systems.I CAN!!!!
