GNX104
10 Inch, 4 Ohm Car Subwoofer
Push It To The Limit
You want the bass, you got the bass, with this 10" diameter, 4-Ohm Car Subwoofer.
Like all the GNX Subs, it's totally optimized to work great in virtually any type of enclosure from Sealed to Vented to Band-Pass (if you can build it, GNX will rock it!)... Without emptying your wallet.
- GNX Subs are available in two sizes, 10 inch and 12 inch, and three flavors of impedance, including Dual Voice Coil models (which can be paralleled for 4-Ohm or 2-Ohm loads).
- Optimized for high performance in virtually any enclosure type: sealed, vented and bandpass.
- Super strong and durable Poly-Mica Cones for gut-pounding bass.
- Huge, injection molded ABS dust cap further stiffens the cone to supress unwanted resonance. You get incredible low distortion, high impact bass response.
- Extra beefy (beefy!) magnet structure and motor assembly for high output bass with tight control.
- Four-layer vented voice coil runs cool while your music stays hot.
- Vented pole piece for higher efficiency and ultra high power handling.

- Durable rubber surround for extended life performance.

Powerful detail, decent lows, big sound for small box. very efficent even with 50 watts a piece.
Weaknesses:
expected more low end volume, wattage should be about 500 watts and slightly higher RMS. 200-250
Review:
I recently bought two of these subs and put them in the sealed box .65 for each. I was looking for hard hitting and a very detailed sound and that just what I got. I'm running 200 watts too each!!!(25 watts over recomended and they hold just fine). I had never heard or owned these subs before but had always heard good thangs. I must say for the ends that one pays, the subs hit hard and accurate. They have more detail than most subs on the market and ok lows. I don't have poly-fill in my chambers either that could and will make a huge difference. I'll keep ya posted, I'm building a ported box next, I expect a huge difference in volume sound and more lows, (3dbs). Not bad for a small enclosure woofer.

excellent lows for a ten.very, very smooth boooom, very tight and accurateprobably the best subs i've ever tried(but i'm a ameuter)
Weaknesses:
they're not on sale enough!
Review:
i just bought two of these and took out my jbl 1041's.(they took way too much power.i'm currently running these with a "us acoustics amp" briged - 160x2.these babys blow away the jbl's on low tones and more efficient on power. i'm using a sealed box filled with poly-fil and it totally rocks! my trunk is vibrating, rear deck is shaking, and the rear view mirror dances..... wait until i upgrade to a new amp - jbl bp600.1(mono)then i'll irritate the neighbors and need more aspirin! i played "baby got back" by sir mixalot and it pounded me to death(but it rocked!!!!!!!)

You want to talk about being smacked in the back of the head by nothing but the air these things push.....well that's just what will happen. The bass these things create is so tight they'll leave you gasping for air!!!
Weaknesses:
I don't have room for a couple more!!
Review:
I had a pair of these being pushed by an old 500W 4-channel amp in a bandpass enclosure and I have to say "They FREAK'IN ROCKED!!" Now I've recently acquired a new system that's going to incorporate a pair of the GNX-108's and I simply can't wait to hear them pound the inner workings of my ears!

These will turn some heads. Very very good Bass.
Weaknesses:
My head hurts after a drive. I'm spending all my money on pain killers.
Review:
I got two of these subs about six months ago and they out preform any other subs that I have listened to which includes JL, Sony, Kenwood, Infinity, Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, and Jensen. I have a Xplod 760 watt 2 channal amp powering just the two subs and I had to turn down the amp and subs because they were hitting so hard my head started to hurt. Super clean sound with clean, accurate bass. If you need what I would say is the perfect sub for the sound and money these are the subs for you.

Hits hard, looks great, and can keep up.
Weaknesses:
What can I say? I fried two in the last six months and had to drive with no base for a few days.
Review:
Looks and sounds like noting else I have ever seen. When I am wearing jeans and driving when it hits I feel like something is smacking the backs of my legs. Unfourtunatlly my retailer ran a little two much power to my sub and I fried two before he finally fixed the problem.

Alright I have 2 of these in a sealed box with a 500 watt 2 channel JENSON amp *lol* and they still hit hard. Just the other day a lady got out of her car and asked me to turn it down cause it was hurting her ears. They never get hot even with constant power for hours.

They kicked my box's hind parts, and now I have to buy one that can hold these monsters.
Review:
The GNX's were my second pair of Sub's. I recieved my first pair upon my highschool graduation as a gift from my folks, they were a pair of 12" Sony Explode *blushing in shame*. Needless to say, I quickly found the Sony unable to fill my needs, so I returned them, saying they were blown and got some in-store credit. I fell in love with the GNX's and immediately bought them. It was the best buy I've made to this day. I run them on a bridged 600w Kenwood, and along with my Alpine head unit, they absolutely POUND! I love to see people look at me and nod their heads in shame as I drive by!

Review:
I bought these sub about a week ago and this as been the best investment I have made in a while. These subs are not costly and hit very hard with little air space and small amp, "I have them bridged on a 270 older coustic amp" in my single cab ford ranger. These subs are also great if you just want little bass to joy ride around with but when you crank up you receive great reliable bass.

Review:
After owning Rockford and Kicker subs and feeling slightly disappinted, I purchased a pair of GNX104 subs, bridged and powered them with a 350 watt Lightning Audio mono amp I had lying around. THESE BABIES BOOM! - even with this amp!, and a decent quality Aiwa head unit. Definitly worth the money! Is the there a higher rating than 5 stars??

I put 2 of these in a ported box with 1.0 cubic feet of air space, and wh@m, whiplash. These babies rock. Great solid sound. I have 100 watts on each of them with 18db of boost at 45 hz. My Orion, Kicker and RF subs never sounded this good in a ported box.

Loud clear bass. They are happy in a variety of enclosure types and sizes. Very good price for a quality speaker.
Weaknesses:
Would like a little more information on box volume and type than the instructions give. I will say, though, I emailed Polk some questions about box volume, type, and what I plan to use it for (my home theater) and got a respnse to all my questions within two hours! With that kind of service who needs a detailed instruction manual.
Review:
After paying a good bit for my local car audio shop to install a Qlogic custom box and a 10" Kicker hooked to an Alpine amp in my Explorer and being very disappointed I decided to see what I could do to help the situation. I researched subwoofers and found out the Polk would work in my .65 cubic foot sealed box. I ordered a GNX104 and put it in. BAM! A world of difference. Loud clear bass. I could not believe it. About a year later I sold my big JBL home speakers and replaced them with small speakers. The small speakers sound good but lack bass. I had an extra Onkyo amplifier so I decided to build a subwoofer into an entertainment system I was building. I remembered how well I liked the GNX104 in my car so I ordered 2 of them and installed them in an enclosure that had 1.05 cubic feet per woofer (I went with the larger cubic volume to get a little more bass extension since I had plenty of power and did not have to worry so much about efficiency). Once again I was totally amazed. My Onkyo receiver has a built in crossover (at 80hz) and volume control for the subwoofer out connection and by using this and adjusting the volume to match my smaller speakers they blended perfectly. My home theater never sounded so good. The bass from these two 10" is clearer and more powerful then the two 12" that were in my JBL L7's! This is just an incredible woofer for the money!

Very very good sub. Quick responses, hits very strong and does not let up until it blows up.
Weaknesses:
Doesnt work after using it fore a month and a week. Smells really really bad when it blows up. Having to pay for shipping to send it to the manufacturer so you can get it replaced or have some sort of refund. Having to tear apart your whole setup (checking ground, RCAs, amp) to find out what the problem is only to find out the crap blew. Looks kinda funny altjough much worse exists
Review:
The GNX104 is a great sub; when it works. It can hit very hard and has very good response when it is operating functionaly. Looking for something that will break you windshield and make your rear veiw mirrors useless i strongly suggest using this sub until it blows off your your Pyle (Pronounced as spelled and has the out put of) 300w max amp.

Best Speakers I've ever owned (when they work) . Accurate response with even average power. After 10 months, one of my speakers started acting up and now then the other one is acting up. It appears that they develop a short right where the wire connection attaches to the cone (this is under normal use). It seems to be poor design or maybe I just purchased two bad ones. For the amount of money that I've paid for these, it would have been nice to not have to ship these off to Polk for repair. They're awesome when they're working, but I can't say that I'll buy another pair after this episode.

Review:
I purchased two of the GNZ104's from a local retailer with whom a friend of mine was employed. Depsite their size, they sounded incredible. That was in 11/01. I have been running them on a 300W RMS Sony Amp...(my only downfall). Even with the Sony, they sound incredible in my Monte Carlo. I have them running in a sealed box and was amazed at the power they had when moved to a bandpass. Unfortunately now here in 12/03 an accident dmg'ed one of them beyond repair (ported it & severed coil lead). I immediately went out and replaced it with another GNX104. I've heard *bigger* systems...its funny when the guy with a $4500 setup is awed by these two and a Sony Amp of all things. Polk, you guys rock.

Review:
i bought one of these gnx104 subwoofers to replace the cheap blown bazooka tube subwoofer. i looked around and found that these had the perfect specs for the tube (according to crutchfield, the max. recommended ported box volume is 1.25 cubic feet for the subs, and the tube volume is approx. 1.3 cubic feet. also, the tube is tuned to 39 hz, as that is the approx. frequency of the sub.) the problem was...would they fit. i purchased one and wouldnt you know it, it fits. it sounds insane in the tube. by the way, i only have one sub and tube. i previously had a cerwin vega vega 124 subwoofer and the polk sub actually hits harder, but did not really play as loud. i was extremely supprised though. i could not imagine what 2 tubes would be like.

The sound is outstanding and not a lot of space is required.
Weaknesses:
Durability of the subs themselves are lacking structual strength.
Review:
Overall I give the sub a fair rating. I purched two of them about a 1 1/2 years ago, they are in a sealed truck box with a 450 watt fosgate amp on them. my problem is the wire from the terminal on the sub itself to the housing keeps breaking. I keep soldering back on but it will just break again. I called Crutchfield where I purchased them from and they wouldn't do anything about it, this has been happening for about 8 months now. I plan on purchasing some new subs in the near future cause i'm tired of playing "fixit" on the subs.

Ok. I just got this sub three days ago, and what a SURPRISE! I didn't expected to sound so cool.....so strong. It was worth the travel to get it. Although I didn't bought it for the car. I bought it for a subwoofer of an home theater system. Anyways Its sound better than the one I had before. The sub speaker before was about 250 watts, yeah right! It started to........well can't really explain it, but lets just say It didn't sound good at all at 100 watts with extra bass! Infact, this GNX-104 Totally rocked it! Sound great even with the extra bass and at a 250 watt max, although its peak its 400 watts. My movies and games will never be the same thanks to these bad ass subwoofers. I just hope Is not bad to change the subs of an theater system. Maybe I'll get some for my car after seeing what they can really do!

that dang ol lead broke at the cone. seems to happen quite a bit to other ppl but hey 20 bucks and it's fixed. when i get her back if it breaks at the terminal ill extend it.
Review:
overall i like the sound the produce. i really think they'd do better in a sealed bux but my 4th order bandpass loaded with these honeys still killed my rearview mirror in one car and makes the other point to the rear floor bourd. i've got myne on a 1200 watt boss amp 560 watts rms bridged and they rock all but my cousins polk ex124's. my cousins brand new kickers like trash next to these and im running bandpass on a cheapo amp. his is all high end stuff lol. my complaint is the fact that the stupid lead broke off at the cone after around 4.5 months of use. 20 bucks sent her on the way for replacement after the warenty from polk so i really can not complain. they sould get it today and next week im gonna trade for a sealed box to wrap them in.

oh i forgot to mention that my main weakness is that these son of a guns when on a 1200 watt amp can will destroy your box. no shit here my bandpass deviders keep tearing loose. the board (a full half inch of high qaulity plywood reinforced a quarter of the way in from each side by the deviders) actually split from the raw power and pressure made. the screws that hold in the plexi didnt just back out either. no they frieken stripped out aswell as the 8 huge screws (now using small bolts with washers and nuts locktited on to keep them in)!! if you can't do wood work to keep your box tight you don't want these. this wasn't a cheap box either. they also pound hard enough that window on my amp turned loose and fell down.when i put them in i had a 2 crack in windshield that had been there over a year. these things within a week spead it all the down the bottom. put someone in the backseat you don't like and you can easily give them a sever headache with it!!!!!!!

Very clear, accurate bass in a small box with limited power levels.
Weaknesses:
Not as loud as an SPL speaker in a bigger box.
Review:
I got a pair of these and was in a hurry, so I only made one box and just installed that. It was not as loud as my JL audio 12 in a box 2.5 times as large, but it sounded so much nicer. With the JL, it muddied up different instrument's sounds. For classical, even metal, the JL was a dissapointment. It wanted to turn everything into a humming noise. The Polk GNX10 on the other hand, is great. It is so much cleaner on kick drums, and you can tell the difference between a drum and a bass guitar! Now I am finishing up a box for both tens and am having trouble getting the other ten from my sis since I loaned it to her while I was not using it.
