I love your polk gnx subwoofers,i like the feeling when i roll up to a stoplight and raddle mirrors. These subs really do pound hard. I think i will buy more polk audio for my car and home because i like them that much.

I just got a pair of these. I put them in a bandpass box. They hit so hard that my radar detector will bounce. At stoplights i can raddel the mirrors on either side of me. I highly recomend these. ~bigmike~

I have a 99 Toyota Corolla,And I purchased (1) GNX Sub(12")placed it in a small air tight box put it in my trunk and got a small little amp,put it under the passengers seat replaced all 4 stock speakers with POLK'S 6 1/2" EX365, And let me just say that everyone who enters my little car cant beleive the incredible sound! All this with the stock head unit!! Get rid of your stock paper cones and buy some real speakers, POLK!!! You wont regret it!!

Had these subs for 9 months no problems at all. Once they get broken in the hit twice as hard as they first did. I have four of these subs in two sealed boxes. I go to a high school where everyone has expensive an elaborate systems. My only complaint is that i cannot find a POLK AUDIO sticker for my car.. I WANNA REP POLK..

Review:

I purchased a pair GNX124's to replace the woofers in the speakers of my home stereo. The original 12" woofers that came with my StudioLAB speakers used a foam surround that had broken down due to age (they're twenty-years old). After having heard the audio depth and clarity of Polk's speakers and drivers, there was no doubt in my mind that Polk's 12" GNX124's would be a wise audio investment. I've been listening to the installed GNX124's for a week now and can't say enough about how impressed I am by their audio performance. I couldn't be happier with this purchase! In order to fully appreciate the bass capability of these drivers, music needs to be either digitally recorded (DDD) or digitally remastered (ADD). CD's that are AAD (analog recorded and analog mixed) just don't seem to have the bass frequency range that these drivers are able to easily reproduce.

Strengths:

THE BASS HITS SO DAMN HARD IT KNOCKED MY GLASSES OFF MY FACE!!!!!

The iron basket was a bit of a hastle because of the way they were built, so they didn't drop directly into my box, I had to do a few altercations because of the small raised parts, otherwise, none from the sound department.

Review:

Hey, I just bought a pair of these GNX124... man.. they hit.. they hit hard too, I have it hooked up to a Power Acoustik Gothich 525 Watt amp, puts out 175 rms.. -gasps- these subs put out 175 rms as well, don't let the RMS on these babies fool you.. the amp, and the subs matched up pretty well.. I parked my car a quarter mile from my house, blasted it on full.. heard the bass, it suits my need very well, thanks alot Polk. :)

I have a Pioneer 800w max amp hooked up to 2 of these and this shit is extreme thumpage. The subs hit way hard and I am very happy with them. They hit so hard in fact, that I was outside a restaraunt about 100 feet away and people inside could hear it. These are excellent subs and I am a satisified customer.

At first I didn't think these would be that great of a subwoofer. BOY was I wrong. They absolutely pound. Sound is spectacular as well. I was used to Image Dynamics IDQ 12 V2 subs. These Polk subs (2 of them) went into a 97 Jeep Cherokee running off of an MTX 6500d. Birth Sheet says 600 watts at 2ohms 12.5 volts. Can't remember the exact box size, sealed somewhere around 2.0 cubic feet total I believe. Polk says to break them in, but I had no time to break them in. I was headed home the next day and have not heard them since, so not sure how they do now that they have been broken in. Max volume on the Pioneer deck, gain turned up on the amp and the subs still could take more. The amp had one of those EBC controls plugged in. Wasn't exactly sure what it did other then limit the amp. Since then it has been unplugged and the gain turned down. Sure they say they don't handle a lot of power, but it is isn't power that blows a sub, it is distortion. In summary you put 2 of these together $159.99 for 2 from Crutchfield and a MTX 6500d off of EBAY probably $250 total with shipping. For $420 you will have some serious bump along with great SQ.

These are kick ass subs. I have them running off a directed 250d amp, and they pound majorly hard. I beat the crap out of my friends pioneer subs, and my other friends kenwoods. I originally had mtx thunder 4000's but they didn't hit anything, so I sold them and bought these on a buy 1 get 1 free sale. It was the best thing I ever did. I put them in my Olds Cutlass Ciera. I have the loudest system in the town.

Major thump for the buck. Spent half as much as my friend and mine is louder, ha ha.

Can't stand being in the wrong enclosure. Make Sure you get the right size box.

Review:

Great subs. Handle temp extrems rather well. I've been putting more power to them than is recommended. Blow my first one about 10 months after getting them. Not to bad compared to some MTXs, wich I saw blow with in a week of being slightly over powerd. Great thump for the dollar, buy 1 get 1 free can't beat it.

I got two of these subs when I first started driving and they HIT HARD AS HELL!! I have had them for about 6 months and since then, my truck has been picked out as the truck that has the most THUMP in a high school of about 1000. I have two of these bad boys powered buy a 300w alpine amp. I can't even see out of the rear view mirror on some songs and must turn the bass down! I have enjoyed these speakers every second and would definitely buy again!

I bought these subs because they were on sale. I was expecting them to hit ok, and just add some bass to my car after I blew 2 1200 watt pyramids. I hook these up to my JL 500/1 and now I cant even use my rear view mirror. Seriously, these are almost comparable with some subs two or three times the price or more. They absolutley pound. Clear and strong throught all frequensies

I have one of these in a sealed really simple box and it just sits on the back seat of my 94 chevy silverado. It hits harder than my friends 2 JL 10'' W-3's and i only have one!! Its pushed by 25 more watts than recomended and i have had no trouble with distortion it plays extremely well at high volumes. So basicaly polk audio makes some kick ass subs for a low buck.

Strengths:

The subs are excellent for the price and the sound quality for a audio enthusiast. My sub box is sealed and even with a 100 watts, my steering wheel shakes and my rear wiper blade bounces and cracked both my rear tail lens assembly. My fault for set up :)

Weaknesses:

There's not enough Polk Audio shops or dealers that are reputable in the Ashburn Va. location. Please look into this matter. My friends are looking for the deal that I got for my subs and they too are now a die hard Polk Audio fan like me! Thanks!

Review:

My 10 years of sub search has finally come to an end! My 2 Orion 12's kicked butt for power handling and sound but these 2 12's that I bought from Polk Audio just blows me away! I had to step down from a M-100 to a Rockford Fostgate Punch 50 bridged at 2 ohm's. These speakers are just so well built and efficient, It doesn't require so much power to operate them. I have a 91' CRX with an average stereo set up and my friend with his 2000 Dodge Ram P/U W/ 3 JL audios says my system rocks harder than his system W/ a class "D" amp. I know that my car has a small cabin space but after my friends heard what my car can do for 100 watts, Polk Audio, I'm sending the buisness to you. Keep up the good work W/ home and car audio. I will continue to buy from U.

I own a pair of Gnx 12" 4 ohm's sub's and i live in minnesota where it get's cold i mean cold, and i always just let them thump right away and my other subs always blew or distorted eaither way polk has somthing going good for them and i enjoy the sub's very much, they sound great even with a 200 watt rockford amp not briged or anything, soon i will be buying a 760 sony then let's see the diffrence

These subs kick serious ass. I have 2 12s run by a 1300w soundstorm amp in a bandpass enclosure. These things THUMP!! I am building a sealed enclosure right now using polks recommended sizes. Filling with dacron. The subs hit so hard that the bass vibrated my stock speakers right off there mount. These shit is crazy. If you dont have some, get some. I got lucky because i bought the lower model subs (buy 1 get 1 free) for $80. Well they were out of stock after i payed for them so they gave me these for the same price. Get some.

I have 2 polk gnx124s in the back of my 84 landcruiser and let me just say that i'm REALLY impressed!! I thought I had a 300W amp pushing them and everone who heard them called me a liar. Well i just realized its only 200W! Man! My rear view mirror mount just cracked the other day. These will meet or beat any other systems around the school I go to except the guy with 4 12s and 5000W. I wanted to build a home subwoofer system. I found the GNX-124 at Circuit City as an "open box" item and therefore at a good price. I got the subwoofer amp from Parts Express. I installed all of this in a 2.1 cu.ft. (internal volume) ported box. This driver is better suited for a ported box instead of a sealed box. Anyways, this was a very successful project. Now I have a home theater subwoofer for a lot less money than a commercial one. If you already have a subwoofer ,but the driver is blown, try one of the Polk subwoofer drivers as a replacment. It should be more than adequate.

i just boughten a pair of polk audio gnx 124's because they pound with extreme power and the price is nearly at a steal price considering the fact they last a very long time and take wayy more power than they say they can handle. they sure can take a beating. what sux is they stopped making this model. i used to own a pair of these in 2005 til someone stole them out of my car. recently i bought a pair from ebay for 40$. very cheap, great condition dam near new. anyway i love this older polk series sub. i reccommend buying them if u have any chance at it.THANKS POLK.
