Review:
I received my new Isonic2 last week. I had previously owned a Bose Wave Radio and was anxious to see how it compared. The driving factor behind purchasing this unit was its Ipod interface and HD radio capabilities. Don't be shocked when your new Isonic2 arrives in a huge box! It's just very well packaged! Inside the box you will find easy to follow instructions and all the necessary items to get you up and listening in a matter of minutes. The sound of this unit is FAR superior to that of its Bose counterpart and physically its much more attractive. The controls are easy to use on the unit and I was very impressed with the size of the display and how easy it is to read from across the room. Especially helpful when you don't have your glasses on in the wee hours of the morning. :) I honestly cant find anything negative to say about this unit. I'm an audiophile and am extremely picky about how my equipment sounds. The tagging feature is really nice too... find a song on HD that you like, hit the tag button and it reminds you next time your on iTunes to buy it if you so choose. Very nice! So, if you are looking for the highest quality sound radio with all the bells and whistles, get this one! You wont be disappointed!

Great sound, beats my old Bose! That's saying a lot.
Weaknesses:
User interface not suited for nightstand use; iPhone interface usable but needs refinement.
Review:
My experience is the same as those above: IMPECCABLE SOUND and great tuner, but the user interface could have been thought out better. My qualms with this system are that it is replacing a bedroom Bose unit that was on my nightstand which was used (mostly) for night time and as a functioning alarm clock. It is obvious that the engineers (who did a great job making a powerful system) never took one of these home and used it as a nightstand unit. -The lowest volume setting is quite loud for bedroom use, especially just inches from my ears. -The blue light is the worst color for night use, and although dimmable, is not automatic like in the Bose unit; it's FAR too bright if kept at a level for day use, and it never goes completely dark even with the power off! -Keypad buttons are not backlit, so with the bright blue screen on, you absolutely cannot identify the buttons without turning an overhead light on; not good for bedroom relations. -Using the "sleep" feature is a major pain unless you use the remote control, again requiring a light unless you memorize the keypad position of the buttons. -Forward and Reverse keys on panel do not control iPhone (yet?)! And when plugging the iPhone into the slot, you get the warning that it may cause interference unless you activate airplane mode! I purposely bought this because it was built for the iPhone...other systems do not give that warning and control the iPhone interface directly. Perhaps a firmware update will fix this? Although I'm pointing out negatives, all good points from the above reviews are correct: impeccable sound and a great tuner. Firmware upgrade-ability is huge. Let's hope Polk fixes a couple of the small issues I've posted. Make the backlight red and autodim, and backlight the keypad and this is a 5 out of 5. Perfect. Overall, a 4.5 out of 5. If you're using this unit anywhere but the bedroom, then it's a 5 out of 5 as is!

Weaknesses:
It is a little slow to respond to commands from the remote (volume, next tracks, etc)but it is a very minor issue.....
Review:
EXTREMLY IMPRESSED! I just rec'd my I-Sonic today (1-13-10) and must say after a ton of research, it is flat-out awesome. I am drummer of 20+ years and I consider myself a serious music lover with a very picky ear for great sound, and the minute I plugged this in, I was super impressed! Having compared it directly to a new BOSE wave radio, sound-wise it blows the BOSE away! (No comparision) Super bass, and pretty good highs.. From a features standpoint, the I-Sonic hands down, out offers the Bose wave radio..Keep in mind, the Polk unit is $200-$300 LESS expensive....and it doesn't have: 1) HD Radio (which sounds awesome!) 2) Audio out... 3) IPOD Dock 4) Adjustable Bass/treble controls...This is very important! As Polk says, "no matter how good we tried to make it sound, you still need user adjustable controls" As anyone with a good ear knows, music tastes, room environments, and placement all dramatically effect the sound, and you really need adjustable controls to adjust to your taste and music styles.. I have this unit installed in our large living room, and it fills the room with NO PROBLEM.. I have it hooked up primarily to our 46" Plasma TV for use as a 2nd audio system (Since my plasma tv speakers are not great) and this unit sounds great! I am essentially using it as a mini home theater system.... This unit cranks and also looks as good as the BOSE and is nearly half the price...No complaints...... Overall I would rate it a solid 9.5 out of 10...You won't be disappointed! SUPER JOB Polk on a super well designed unit!

I love it. I was going to buy a bose wave radio till I looked at, and listened to the I-Sonic. I was blown away by its sound. When I got it home it sounded even better in my own home. Everyone that hears it says it sounds awesome. I can't wait to add the matching CD player to it.

tonality to die from!
Weaknesses:
initially one channel would go out - but the problem has been fixed
Review:
i have had the original i-sonic for about 2 years. - The tone that comes from this unit is really reference quality - i run it with a bryston bcd1 attached to the aux inputs on the back of the i-sonic i have a certified audiophile system - but this unit constantly amazes me - the tone the comes out of this unit is to die from - one of the best "undiscovered" pieces of audio that has come down the pike it truly sounds wonderful - remember i am using it with an external cd player - not its own - this i believe makes it sound truly reference caliber. - this is no joke - im amazed everytime i play it stewart glen mills, pa

Bought the I-sonic for my wife for her birthday. She wanted a good kitchen radio that also docked her ipod. She and I both were impressed when she opened it. I haven't been as up on music as my wife lately, but that night and the next day, I couldn't let it alone. I just stand there and listen to it. What a nice product. Well made and though the shape is unusual, it all starts to make sense after you listen to it for a while. It was the center of attention at a party! If you are on the fence, let me push you over to the I-Sonic.
