LC80i-IP
The world's first active, IP-addressable in-ceiling speaker.
Self-Amplified, Totally Remote, IP-Addressible High Performance In-Ceiling Speaker
Polk Audio LCi-IP ultra high performance built-in loudspeakers are the world’s first active internet protocol-ready loudspeakers. What does that mean? It means that for the first time ever you can control these babies from your computer media empire, and you can program every aspect of their performance, from crossover slope and frequency equalization to bass enhancement and room correction, for the absolute ultimate in customized high performance audio. Plus, because they are built-in and feature paintable grilles, your masterwork will literally disappear into your decor, leaving only its incredible performance to wow you.
LC80i-IP Features:
Created for IP networked systems such as the ground-breaking NetStreams DigiLinx system, but the LC265i-IP can also be used with analog systems and upgraded later.
Proprietary audio integration software gives you control over the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) unit and allows you to easily tweak the system for maximum performance. Use the mini-USB port on the front baffle of the speaker to access the Performance Optimization Wizard (POW) interface via PC. Optimize each speaker for its location and room environment. Controls the electronic crossover, frequency equalization, bass enhancement and room correction.
Eliminate lossy, performance-robbing speaker wires and reap the high fidelity benefits of powerful local amplification. Efficient, cool-running digital amps deliver high power (200 Watts) for incredible dynamic range: 100 Watts to the woofer, 75 Watts for the midrange and 25 Watts for the tweeter.
Paintable grilles let you build them in, and then forget all about them; LCi Series practically disappear into any room.
Enhanced, reengineered ring radiator tweeters extend top-end response for incredible details, with a 15° swivel housing for direct high frequency control and excellent imaging even in off-axis listening positions.
Our aerated polypropylene cone is the ideal balance of lightweight stiffness (for more efficient action with less distortion-causing flex) and superior damping properties, for spectacular midrange clarity and punchy bass.
Polk Audio’s proprietary, patented Dynamic Balance® technology allows our engineers to design out distortion-causing driver and system resonances, so you only hear the good sounds.
Lightweight, rigid driver baskets constructed of specially engineered composite materials keep moving parts in rigid alignment and damp performance-robbing resonances for better performance in shallow space installs.
Easily accessible custom audio controls allow you to tweak your sound for optimum performance in any installation: Use the reflective room (tweeter) compensation switch to digitally compensate for harsh reflective surfaces, and the wall distance setting toggle to compensate for proximity to corners or adjacent walls.
PowerPort® bass venting is Polk Audio’s patented design for smoothly transitioning the air flow from the port into your listening area, eliminating turbulence and distortion, for bigger, more efficient, deep bass impact.
Rustproof stainless steel hardware and powder coated aluminum grilles make LCi Series speakers suitable for high moisture areas like bathrooms, transitional spaces or even under eaves or in the ceiling of an enclosed porch. (LCi Series are not suitable for exposed outdoor use. For outdoor speaker fun, use our Atrium® Series.)
LCi Series speakers are timbre-matched to Polk Audio LSi speakers to insure utterly seamless blending from speaker to speaker in systems that combine traditional and built-in speakers.
LCi Series speakers are packaged one-per-box, so you can use singles as front or rear center channels, or as additional-zone speakers anywhere.
Easy one-cut, drop-in installation puts built-in audio within reach, with Perfect Fit templates, a precision flange, and (available) pre-construction brackets; achieve secure, vibration-free efficiency with a simple turn of the patented Rotating Cam system.
All Polk Audio products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk Audio loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

i use this active in wall speakers in conjunction with a StreamNet card. Ideal for wifi/Wi-MAx and Nu-MAX transmission environment.works well in the lab.Had to reset to reinitialise couple of time during setting up. was drawing close to 5Amps when fed from the 48V powerplant and driven to distortion+saturation. It overheatd once (the LED became red) but quickily recovered when moved away from another heat source.Impressive set of DSPs.Clean sound.
