miDock Portfolio
Portable Audio for your iPod
With Polk's miDock Portfolio, you can listen to your iPod anytime, anywhere. The miDock's compact and light size enables you to carry it around in your briefcase or bag, wherever you're going. Bring it to work, to school or on vacation. Don't have access to an outlet? Don't worry, the miDock can operate on 4 AA batteries (not included) for over 8 hours! Of course, you can also plug it in with the supplied AC adaptor for unlimited listening.
The miDock Portfolio is compatible with all iPod models, and has an auxiliary input for other MP3 players or computer. We supply adaptors to accommodate all the iPod generations, including the Mini and Nano. The Shuffle and iPhone can connect through the auxiliary input. The docking station will even charge your iPod while it is plugged in. (special note- will not charge, but will play 4th Gen Nano and 2nd Gen Touch)
Don't let the miDock Portfolio's unobtrusive looks fool you. The high-efficiency digital amplification technology makes the speakers sound much bigger than they actually are. The digital amplification technology is paired with four metal cone micro drivers. This means that each channel, left and right, has two speakers dedicated to high quality performance. If you compare the miDock Portfolio with similar units (even those that are priced much higher), you'll be shocked by how much better the miDock Portfolio sounds.
We know there are a million iPod docks out there. Why should you choose Polk's? The miDock Portfolio is the easiest to travel with (it folds flat), it comes with a protective case, and it's the best-sounding, ultra-compact portable iPod dock you can buy.
Features Include:
- ultra compact portable audio player
- compatible with all iPod models (iPod shuffle & iPhone uses auxiliary input)
- high efficiency digital amplification
- Auxiliary Input for use with other audio sources like computer, portable CD player, etc.

- Includes a padded Protective Carry case

What are the differences between the Polk miDocks?

Excellent sound quality, portability and size.
Weaknesses:
None.
Review:
I think this little unit is wonderful. It has much better sound quality than my son's JBL On Stage II. It sits nicely on my kitchen counter, looks good and keeps my IPod charged! I also like the fact that it was included as a purchase incentive for buying the Isonic radio as I needed both types of units anyway so I think I got a great deal.

Great sound for a small footprint. Better than anything similar that I've heard.
Weaknesses:
I wonder about the strength of the docking cradle adapter. So far no problems though.
Review:
I'm really impressed with this miDock. Very good sound for such a small package. It will never compete with my Polk Audio SDA 1Cs...but it's not supposed to. It is ideal for those times I just don't want to use my headphones. Excellent product!

Its so small and compact you may lose it.
Review:
This is by far the best sounding ipod dock to this day at a 100 dollar price range. You can use it in the house or put some batteries in it and take it to the beach or wherever you wanna hang out and listen to your tunes. I love it so much Im giving them as gifts to my family this holiday season.

Strengths: Sound quality for the size of the Midock unit and of course customer service when I had an issue with the original unit.
Weaknesses:
None since I received the replacement!!! :-)
Review:
I love my Midock Portfolio. I did have an issue with the online company that I purchased it from and Polk Audio graciously replaced the defective unit I received from them. Thank you to the folks at Polk Audio and I can't say enough good things about Ken Swauger who assisted me to no end and keep responding to all my emails asking about the status of my return. My advice to anyone else looking to buy this product, either buy online from Polk Audio or from an authorized Polk Audio dealer.

Small and easily portable.
Weaknesses:
Not very much bass. Sounds like an old radio.
Review:
This is a nice unit overall. I like how small it is and that it folds up to fit in a case. My only problem is the sound reproduction. I would think that there could be much better bass and clarity.

The size and sound of the unit make it a great choice for portable applications. The price is lower than much inferior products I tested before buying the miDock.
Weaknesses:
None, the miDock has outperformed my expectations.
Review:

Small and portable. Very price competitive.
Weaknesses:
Sound reproduction is "tinny". A bit more money buys a far better sound experience in competitor brands
Review:
Overall disappointing in sound quality for a Polk product - Suspect they have a long way to go in small speaker technology to get bass reponse and top end reproduction at the same level as competitor's products

Small, Charges Ipod, Great Sound!
Weaknesses:
Concerned about the stability of the ipod plug.
Review:
For the price and the size, you can not go wrong with these speakers. Many people are looking for a 100 buck home entertainment solution from this unit apparently and thus some of the lower ratings. I like the sound and understand that this is more an office/bedroom sound system than entertainment center.

I purchased a miDock Portfolio, it is one of the best docking stations, finish , portability & audio Quality. The shocking find was that my IPod Touch does not work on this. Request clarifications form some one who is using this combination of Portfolio with I Pod touch 8GB

Long battery life with bass. Light weight.
Weaknesses:
Cannot charge up my nano by using internal battery cell unless using external power supply.
Review:
It's really a good portable speaker. I am using it with my iPod nano. Sound great with bass but long battery life. Just using 3 packs 4 x AA batteries for 3 days wild camp running with full output loudness. Light weight. My best choice for outdoor usage.

With the explosive market growth of portable MP3 players, and the enormous popularity of the iPod, the same growth has emerged for portable speaker / docking station products. It seems like every electronics manufacturer has done their best to jump on the iPod bandwagon by coming out with some sort of iPod accessory, headset of speaker system. Some people may find the number of accessories and portable speakers mind boggling – with so many choices available, they resign themselves to just picking up the cheapest name brand iPod compatible speaker system they find at their local electronics store. But for those music listeners with more discerning taste and a desire to get the most bang-for-their-buck, the Polk Audio miDock Portfolio provides a very attractive choice for a portable powered speaker system.
DesignThe first thing you'll notice about the Polk Audio miDock Portfolio is that the glossy exterior finish seamlessly blends with the finish of your iPod. Looking more closely at the unit, you will see curved corner edges that are also very similar to the rounded edges found on the iPod. The product designers obviously paid close attention to aesthetics when developing the miDock, and it certainly shows in the end product.
Designed to be paired with all types of iPods, the miDock includes an array of adaptors that allow docking for all types of iPods. In case you use a MP3 player from a different manufacturer, it also includes an auxiliary 3.5mm stereo jack for use with any other type of MP3 player. With size dimensions of only 6-3/8" high, 7-7/8" wide, 4-5/8" deep and weighing in at 1.8 lbs., the miDock is truly a portable speaker system and docking station. Out of the Box SetupThe test unit came in black finish (also available in white) and included the following:
- miDock Portfolio speaker system
- Protective carry bag
- 12V power adapter with 6' power cord
- Adapters for the following iPod models:
- iPod 10GB, 15GB, 20GB
- iPod 30GB, 40GB
- iPod mini 4GB, 6GB
- iPod 20GB, U2 Special Edition
- iPod with color display 20GB, 30GB, U2 Special Edition
- iPod with color display 40GB, 60GB, 80GB
- iPod Nano 2GB, 4GB
- iPod with video 30GB
- iPod with video 60GB
- User Guide
- Adapter Guide
- Online registration sheet
Setup was extremely simple and involved picking the right adapter for my iPod Nano 2GB, attaching it to the bottom end of the iPod, docking the iPod into the miDock and then plugging in the AC power adapter.
On the front of the unit are the basic controls to use the miDock – power, volume up and volume down. Playback of music on the iPod is still done using the click-wheel on the iPod. After powering on the miDock, a blue LED light is activated that shows the miDock is powered on and ready for use. An added bonus is that the miDock recharges the iPod battery once it is docked. Overall, the set up was incredibly easy and took less than 5 minutes to get the miDock up and running and ready to play music.
