The MM5251 is a 5 1/4-inch component speaker system designed to fit in a variety of applications. As a result of 3 years of Polk research and development, the new MM series have been designed to offer unparalleled sound quality with exceptional fit to meet virtually any application. Borrowing technology from our flagship SR Series, the MM Series offers exceptional value for the price. Through the use of high-tech carbon composite baskets, powerful neodymium motor structures using oversized voice coils, and state-of-the-art woven glass composite cones, we offer high-end audio performance normally found only in the most expensive loudspeaker systems. In addition, these space age materials offer weight savings that can mean higher performance for your car or boat.

Space age materials reduce weight of components while offering rock solid reliability, advanced looks and ultra high performance.
Neodymium magnets a rare earth metal offering exceptional strength to performance ratio, found only in the most exotic speakers, saves tremendous weight. Don’t let the sound system weigh your vehicle down. Since the magnet is smaller, the speaker can fit into more applications.
Carbon composite basket based on the spokes of a wheel is lightweight, will not flex during peaks and looks great! Don’t be afraid to show off the back of your speaker.
Woven glass composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.
Klippel optimized components using a state-of-the-art Klippel distortion analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the woofer’s motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.
Large-diameter voice coils (30mm) in drivers increase reliability and power handling capacity.
Tweeters can be either flush or surface mounted.
Stylish grille is included.

Vocals and highs are clear even at loud volumes
Weaknesses:
Lacks midbass (even less than expected with 5.25's), Highs are harsh at first, but seemed to get better with more break in time. One of the speakers (actually most likely the crossover) broke down way too early for how much money was spent on these. Would have given these speakers 4* but since only have of the system still works, I'm only willing to give it a half rating.
Review:
I've always been a fan of Polk speakers, sadly these didn't meet my high expectations, at first the sound was a bit harsh for me, but after about 20 hours of listening, I started enjoying these speakers (not as much as the momo components I used to use though). I sadly must have gotten a defective set, after only having these speakers for a couple weeks, one of the crossovers seems to have given up on me, the tweeter still works, but the woofer lacks almost all sound...the other side still sounds good, looks like I might be giving up on Polk Audio (at least in the car audio department). Speakers powered by infinity 475A amplifier (75W/channel RMS, rear infinity perfects still running strong)

basically i am writing this review cuz and idiot gave these 2 stars. polks are amazing speakers at any volume and when you buy them from a reputable source they are under a full warrenty. i have smoked some in the past but i like my music LOUD!!!!!! so i deal with it. its not polks fault that he doesn't or can't return them.
