Designed and styled specifically for use in the marine environment, The MM651UM isn’t just car speaker labeled for use on a boat. Used in a speaker can or installed on your boat, it works great for both! A unique tweeter-on-grille design eliminates the traditional tweeter post, resulting in a totally sealed front. With waterproof materials, it will stand up to just about any harsh marine environment while sounding great, thanks to Polk marine certification and Polk technology.
MM651UM Features:
Completely sealed front design prevents water intrusion.
Built-on grille includes tweeter mount which eliminates the traditional tweeter "stalk".
Sealed crossover assembly is built into back of magnet means there’s no need to find room to hide an extra box.
Stainless steel heavy duty input terminals and mounting hardware will not corrode or tarnish.
Passes the most rigorous 600 hours of salt fog and UV testing (ASTM international B117-03 standard practice for operating salt spray (fog) apparatus and D4329-99 standard.
Dynamic Balance® driver technology for pure, distortion free sound.
Neodymium is a rare earth material we use in all MM driver magnets, excluding 461P, that are about 1/10 the weight of a comparable ceramic magnet and much more powerful.
Carbon composite basket based on the spokes of a wheel is lightweight and will not flex.
Woven glass composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.
Klippel optimized components for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

All. Easy install, looks and sounds super.Is not a worry when hosing down the boat. Great value.

Review:
Changed out factory upgraded speakers in 07 Sea Ray Select. The sound is clean, crisp and clear. Went with four Polk UM coaxials and left stock tweeters. It's more then I expected, and then some. Even Sound Advice techs cant't believe the difference.

I wish there was a full grille option for fishing boats or boats that just have small children. Other than that none.
Review:
I use the MM series in our demo boat with plenty of power. All I can say is (Very Impressive). These are the best sounding speakers for the money at any price. If you love good music and like hearing your music with full detail these are the way to go. It sounds like I have the full band on board. I use these in a display at boat shows and people are amazed at the sound quality. Aqua Acoustics, Jacksonville, FL

Great sounding speakers but after one year of having them the foam surround has separated from all 4 of the speakers mounted on my tower. A little disappointing.

These sound really great and play well with just head unit power.
Weaknesses:
I really wish they had standard looking white marine grills that covered the front, similar to JL or Alpine marine speakers. Anything that blends in and can take a kick (fishing boats, sail boats, etc.). Also, it would be better if the connection terminals were near the bottom edge of the speaker basket and not at the rear where they require additional depth and want to get caught on stuff. Would also be great if they had an interior model with simple black grill that blends into interior.
