PA400.1
Monoblock mobile audio amplifier for compact subwoofers
Pure Performance.
The PA400.1 monoblock has a power output rated at 300 Watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms with ≤ 1% THD+N. The amplifier’s signal to noise ratio is -60 dBA (reference 1 Watt into 4 ohms). It is also capable of 600 Watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm with ≤ 1% THD+N.
PA400.1 Features:
Monoblock amplifier for subwoofer use.
800 Watts x 1 (1 ohm) dynamic power.
1 ohm stable design can drive even the most demanding subwoofers.
Power and ground terminals accept bare wire up to 4 AWG. Terminals use standard #2 Phillips head screwdriver- no more hex wrenches to lose or strip!
High-speed MOSFET switching power supply and high current bipolar output transistors pump maximum voltage and high current to your speakers or subwoofers.
Double layer fiberglass epoxy printed circuit boards for more rigidity and less shrinkage, with plated through-holes instead of jumpers, for twice the amount of component contact area. Efficient layout packs more circuitry, with tighter component tolerances, into a smaller circuit board for a smaller overall amp footprint.
6-way Smart System Protection (SSP) circuits: Power and ground-reversal protection, thermal and short protection, current overdraw and low impedance protection circuits with auto-standby mode ensure safety, reliability and durability.
Anodized extruded brushed-aluminum cover for maximum heat dissipation and great looks!
Cast aluminum textured end caps for optimized heat dissipation and hiding of connectors. Solid aluminum logo and model panel back lit in cobalt blue.
Adjustable 12 dB/octave low-pass crossover (30-250 Hz).
Switchable 8 dB bass boost at 40Hz for extra bass thump.
Switchable 24 dB/octave subsonic filter protects ported subwoofers.
Switchable 180° phase inversion for easy sub to main integration.
Variable input gain optimizes match with different signal sources (250mv to 7.5V).
RCA outputs for easy daisy chaining of other amplifiers.
Mounting hardware with rubber isolation grommets and extra fuses included.
Light bar/fan output-Connect an optional LED light bar or cooling fan for custom installations.
Multi-color status LED gives instant information on amplifier operation.
Remote subwoofer level adjuster included.

Review:
Purchased to power a single Polk db1212 sub and I've very happy with the sound this combo puts out. My Alpine head unit, db651s and MM651 speakers really fill out my little 96' Honda Orthia station wagon (JDM Civic AWD wagon). As a young man, I never had the $$ to put together a really nice car audio system. Now that I'm in my 40s, I thought it was time to put a little more oomph into my daily driver, and this amp/sub combo sounds fantastic with everything I throw at it. From Led Zeppelin to Fall Out Boy (my daughter's favorite and mine), the amp just keeps going and puts an evil grin across my face every time I go for a ride. Maybe it's time to get a newer car, but I just love my little wagon. Polk's PA1100.5 is top of the list for my wife's next car! Installation was a breeze since I had a professional shop do it.

price, 1 ohm stable, build quality, remote sub level adjuster, appearance, multiple sound adjustments
Weaknesses:
haven't seen any yet, signal to noise ratio not as good as most other amps, but this is for driving subs, and i don't see how it would need to be great-- i can't hear an audible difference.
Review:
i bought this amp to drive an 8" kicker solobaric, s8l7, in a boat. that power hungry beast of an 8" sub eats up everything this amp can throw at it, but man does it sound oh-so-sweet. before this amp, i was powering it with a 300 watt 2-channel mtx amp (4 ohm load), and i could only turn the amp up ~50% before i started hearing distortion from the sub. i have the polk amp running at a 1 ohm load to get the full power out of it for the solo, and have turned it all the way up without hearing any distortion. and the sub eats all 400 watts like a champ, pounding much harder than it ever thought about with the mtx amp. i adjusted the gain back to around 75% for normal listening since the sub was overpowering the 4 polk db coaxials which are powered by the kenwood head unit. no problems yet with the amp heating up, it has run cool thusfar. i haven't had it loud for hours at a time, but i have for about 20 mins each time and the amp hasn't even broken a sweat. so far so good, extremely satisfied with this polk amp, would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Weaknesses:
-None at all
Review:
I have had 5 cars with 5 different audio systems and this is the first time I have turned to a Polk amp. I installed it yesterday along with a Polk db1240 sub and so far it's easily my favorite combination. I have the Polk db1240 in a sealed box and the amp about half way turned up and its almost too much for me! So after 5+ different amps, I would recommend this one over any other name brand amps I have had.
