CNet.com says, “The PSW10’s deep-bass capabilities were impressive, but its definition and control...were really special.” Big, affordable, and fun. Add deep bass excitement and extended dynamic thrills to your music or movie sound system with an easy to choose, easy to connect and easy to use powered subwoofer.
PSW10 Features:
PSW enclosures are designed and engineered for perfect volume, minutely tuned for distortion-free low frequencies, and internally braced and damped to eliminate internal standing waves and other performance-robbing resonances.
Quality materials translate into better power handling, less wasted energy, and bigger, deep bass.
This unique configuration uses a specially tuned and directed port to more efficiently produce maximum bass impact.
Combining just the right driver materials, speaker geometry and enclosure construction techniques has a synergistic effect that produces cleaner, clearer sound. This is our patented Dynamic Balance® process, and it helps our woofers perform effortlessly under the stress of high output source material.
PSW subwoofers outperform the competition with durable, resonance-free Dynamic Balance driver materials that stay stiff and move fast. You experience deep, musical low frequencies and thrilling effects with superior system blending.
Our state-of-the-art Klippel distortion analyzer optimizes the woofer’s motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for smooth, unimpeded movement over a broad spectrum of the lower frequencies to ensure the best, most efficient performance even at extreme listening levels.
Easily accessible, professional-grade line- and speaker-level inputs, and speaker level outputs, allow easy connection to any system.
Smart sensing circuitry knows when to turn itself on and off. Superior compression circuitry limits distortion at extreme volume levels. Intelligent amplifier also features adjustable low-pass crossover, phase switch & subwoofer volume controls to professionally control your bass output and the subwoofer’s blending characteristics with your front stage speakers.
PSW Series subwoofers blend perfectly with systems composed of other Polk loudspeakers, especially TSi, RM and R/T/M Series speakers.
Unique design keeps your subwoofer stable and steady even at radical volume levels, for more efficient use of power. No more “escaped washing machine” syndrome.
All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Clean, tight, punchy is great for musical instrument based music.
Weaknesses:
Some people complain of port noise or chuffing when turned up too loud.
Review:
A good sub ovderall. Being in the A/V business I hear a lot of complaints about port noise or this subs lack of deep bass, or long notes. The truth is that it is a great entry level sub. Most people hear port noise because they simply have the sub too loud. The sub shoul dbe balanced witht he rest of the speakers. Turn it up just until you hear it. If you think you cannot hear it like that, wait a bit so your ear can conform, then turn the sub off. There is a significant difference. I believe there are a lot of people simply turniong the sub up way too loud because of the lack of knowledge about how a sub works and what it is suppoed to do. It's not a car with 2 15's in the back, its a piece to the Home Theater puzzle, and if balanced correctly the sub is perfect.

Personally, I like the design/look. AND, I didn't want to spend TOO much. (I've already gone a bit nuts!)
Weaknesses:
No LFE, BUT, just crank the Hz to the MAX...this over-rides any "internal crossover conflict". I was concerened about that at first myself, but it's a NON-issue. Lows aren't QUITE as low as expected, but for what it is, and the price, thats not a problem. If you want DEEP DEEP bass, this may not be your thing, but as an "accent" to home theater, which is what I use it for, it works well. (in fact, I just bought another one)
Review:
I agree with another reviewer..I think people are turning up their subs WAY too much, hence some of the "port noise". I use my sub to accent/support my other speakers, not to overwhelm them and rattle the windows. If you're looking for that, step up to another sub. With this thing(PSW10)"dialed in" correctly it does a nice job. (ESPECIALLY if it's not CRANKED)

excellent sound quality.
Weaknesses:
AUTO off/on function doesn't work as advertised.
Review:
Great sound to compliment existing system. EXCEPT PS10 in Auto does not seem to turn off when I turn off tuner. I can switch to OFF manually then back to AUTO, but remains ON after switching tuner. Shouldn't this unit sense signal automatically?
Polk Response:
There is a delay built into the auto on/off feature so that the sub does not turn off during extended low bass/quiest portions of music or movies. If the amp does not shut off after 15 minutes contact polk Customer service at 800-377-7655 during normal east coast business hours or email polkcs@polkaudio.com.

Review:
I picked this sub up as part of a package with the RM10 5-Pack and I have to say I am very impressed with the sound. Polk has done a great job with this sub! I followed the instructions on the polk education site and set the low pass as high as it would go. I haven't turned the volume up past 3/4 because I don't need to! :) Over all I am very happy with this purchase! Thanks polk!

Decent kick, suitable for a small bedroom only, at least in my opinion.
Weaknesses:
Pairs poorly with any decent tower speaker. Buy the 110, seriously, just skip the trip to Chili's
Review:
Distorts fairly early compared to even other Polk subs around the same price. Most people get this free with $500+ purchase from retailers, but there's a reason. You'd be crazy not to purchase the PSW110 for the extra fifty bucks - much cleaner and more potential.

Low Cost..Great Bass..No enclosure vibrations Provides a great rumble for Movies.
Weaknesses:
Lacks LFE input but, the L and R works fine. Don't let that be the reason you buy a different sub.
Review:
I got one of these free with a set of RTIA7's from Crutchfield. I was really looking for a subwoofer not a new set of towers. This is my first sub. I was going to spend $500 or more on a sub because I wanted a good one. I am very glad I didn't do that. This sub sounds great to me. I have it setup in our bonus room above our garage, its about 25ft x 18ft with a 9ft high angled ceiling. It fills the room well with bass sound. I set it up just like the instructions said and all I can say is WOW! I just didn't know all of this sound was missing from my home theater. No distortion, no cabinet noises. I even used a cheap 15ft dynex subwoofer cable from Best Buy. If you have never had a sub before I am sure you would be happy with this one. Great Job Polk, I can hardly wait to hear the RTIA7's once they come in.

No imprints, adaptable, clear and fast sound, budget-priced, huge power
Weaknesses:
hard to find.. not closed but reflex cased. I hate the reflex port but this sub sounds good also (amazing)
Review:
I bought it for my tuned front speakers (in Budapest - Hungary). The room which in I use is a 60m2 living room so i think it's a huge space. However, this sub reacts really fast and has a cool sound. 50W but I use only 30% of the power it has and thats pretty enough!!! Every frequency souds as it has to. The lower sounds are not imprinted on the sonority of the front speakers. I feel the bass but I can not tell from where it comes. I don't hear port-noise. I prefer listening to music and this stuff does everything that is needed. I have heard some subs and for my needs this is perfect. Budget-priced and qualitative.

Nothing ....................!
Review:
If you are looking for a well built powered sub that will give years of enjoyment, you will find nothing that can compete with this. It works extemely well, just do not expect it to fill your entire house for a weekend party. It works extemely well for what it was designed to do(Music/Home theater). If you want to wake the neighbors step up a level or two. But if you want quality sound reproduction for your enjoyment this is it.Believe me This is the 1 and the only Pumping punch to your heart , and a Vibrator to your ears . You will enjoy each and every second. Thanks POLKAUDIO.........

awesome bass if hooked up through speaker inputs on sub.
Weaknesses:
volume is alot lower when hooked up via subwoofer patch cable on amps sub output.
Review:
Hook it up to line input on the sub( with heavy gage speaker wire),then run speaker wire from output on sub to the main front left & right speakers. This is way better & louder than with a subwoofer RCA patch cable from subwoofer output on the receiver amp.100 percent improvement

One of the nicer in its price range, sleek look, clear sound at lower volumes, reliable.
Weaknesses:
Some port noise, distorted at higher volume levels, is not magnetically shielded, not very powerful.
Review:
Great for small rooms or those who wish to add just a bit of kick to their system. The sleek finish goes well in most rooms.

Far more power then expected - Clean crisp tone quality - No mud at all for realistic levels of listening - Ease of set-up - Overall product quality is Very Good.
Weaknesses:
No Mag. shielding but that's not really an issue.
Review:
Being unsure of a new product I read a bunch of reviews first, most were very positive so I purchased one. Good Move on my part! This subwoofer is everything the reviews claimed and a touch more. Not only does it fill the room, rock the house and have NO muddy sections of base it also is the perfect compliment for the lack of lower end mid-range my front channel speakers are lacking. Nice to see that this unit filled in the sound range that was missing on my surround system. The tonal quality was far more then I expected. If you walked into the room blindfolded and did not know what the system nor what to expect you would certainly say you were at the theater. No joke, that is the overall feeling. I have heard plenty of bass units that just plain old over-drive the hell out of the low end and they sound like slow mud. This one is crisp and clean with plenty of pop to the notes. I ran this all morning, afternoon and into the evening trying all types of movies and music. normally I keep my music system separate from my TV / Movie system and have a completly individual room and set up for just music. You can not mix the two and be happy, so I thought. After hearing what this sub could produce I am now rethinking that idea. It really was that clean and handled music, fussy music, very well. The Polk line is new to me and I plan to experiment with more products after hearing this. Very nice sound and plenty of punch. If anyone isn't happy with the overall performance of this they must listen to rap at very high volume. If you want a great little powerful puncher that keeps the tones in place this is for you. The 50 Watt rating would not be known unless you read the box, it sure sounds many times stronger and has a load of pressure to prove it. Two thumbs - Way Up.

Very affordable. Very nice looling sub. Great for a small room.
Weaknesses:
Port noise! Cannot handle low fequencies.
Review:
I bought this sub to match aesthetically with my monitor 40's and 30's. Not only that but I was on a budget and this sub is very affordable(I got it on sale at CC). Well, for the price this sub is nice, although, and I mean a big although, it does not get as low as I'd like. It seems todays high end blu rays just have way to many low freq. moments for this poor little sub to handle. Whenever these low frequencies pop up, you get PORT NOISE big time and the speaker's performance just falls flat. This sub would be good for a small room(such as a bedroom) although I can not recommend this sub for a medium or large room.

Economical, well built and excellent sound.A great set of speakers that creates a very listenable musical experience.
Weaknesses:
I am not a bass hungry person and I use this system for music only. It may not achieve the ultra low frequencies that some people crave. For me it reproduces bass in a realistic way.
Review:
Wanted an inexpensive good sounding system to use in our workout room.(12x12) Auditioned a lot of small monitor type speakers from a variety of companies. Happened upon a pair of Polk T20e speakers last Dec. Very impressed by them and found that they competed very well with the Paradigm, Boston Acoustic, Saphire and Infinity speakers I had auditioned.I couldn't go wrong. I added the PSW 10 two weeks ago and have to say I am very pleased by the results. A very musical set up that far exceeds the cost of the speakers.

Hits hard and is extremely inexpensive. Very much worth 200$.
Weaknesses:
It's kind of muddy sounding for music, but I'm also comparing it to my PSW 1000, which isn't fair.
Review:
This is an excellent inexpensive subwoofer. I got it for free when I purchased my Rti-12's from Frys Electronics. Even though it's only a 50 watt sub, it hits surprisingly hard and is a great low-cost addition to a home theater system. It will add a lot to your movies. It's a little bit muddy sounding when it comes to music, but to be fair I'm comparing this to how my PSW-1000 sounds. I've had this sub for about a year and it works great, if you need some extra bass for your home theater system and have a tight budget, pick this one up. It's very good for a smaller room. It gets five stars because it significantly outperforms the 200$ price tag.

wish they put the volume knob in the front, some cd have heavy base and you have to adjuste it by moving the speaker out and then to push it back in.other then that its all good.

Review:
I bought it to go with a pair of RTi6's strictly for music and gaming. I'm very impressed with how much it adds to the listening experience. I also like that I can totally manipulate what the sub itself sounds like apart from the controls on the receiver. Plus, it's a great size ("dorm room sized"). I've never had a sub before, so nothing to compare to, but I know what sounds good and this does!

Big bass for the (relatively) small package, good price. I'm all smiles.
Weaknesses:
Only a little one- for hardwood floors, softer rubber feet would be nice. However, cheap adhesive pads solve that easily enough.
Review:
Awesome bass for the price. I was going to get the psw-12 but opted for two of these. Large or small room, they sound great. Paired them with Rti10s and csi-5. No complaints. I am happy that the volume and everything else is located on the back as it keeps the clean look I have come to expect from Polk. I haven't noticed excessive port noise, perhaps some people have too much bass in their signal before it enters the sub. Try turning it down- I leave my amp's subwoofer channels at half power and let the subs do the work themselves.

The PSW10 is an average decent subwoofer for the price. The bass output is good in small rooms and blends well with the Monitor bookshelves. For larger rooms I would recommend using two of these or a the bigger PSW12. Difficult to set up properly due to small amp.

After living with this sub for 2 months i have found that it distorts fairly easily, and the port noise is horrible. It only goes to 40hz, can that even be called a sub? My axiom m80 towers have more bass than this. i have tried different placement, playing with the gain, but the simple truth is this sub sucks. I recently upgraded to the BIC acoustech H-100. The difference is simply astounding. My advice is do some research before you buy a sub, i would recomend an athena or the h-100 before this one.

I wanted an inexpensive sub to pair with my R50's in a budget 2 channel system in my 9 x 11 home office. This sub does the job I expected once I figured how to set it up (Polk Method: I wired the Receiver -> Sub -> Speakers)

Performance per $. Auto-on feature when it senses an input signal.
Weaknesses:
Poor user manual, skimpy info and an error in the connection diagram -- shows an RCA jack for single cable input that does not exist. Tech phone support was excellent and provided the correct connection instructions.
Review:
I give it 5 stars, not compared to all subwoofers, but considering the price range. The PSW10 is an amazing value. A great complement to the 8" bookshelf speakers that I use to bypass the crummy built-ins on a 46" TV. The depth of sound it brings to the TV/DVD experience has to be heard to be believed. Far better than the low-end "home theater" equipment.

Sounds Great with my single 8 Paradigms. Fills the 12 x 14 upholstered room with rich low base I could not get before with just my main speakers. Installed in the right corner of the room to the right of the front main, woofer pointing to the left. Increased sub channel to +3db cause I usually listen to low or medium volume while playing cards etc. Cant wait to try on Jurasic Park.

Good sounding sub and affordable price. i have this sub in my 100 sq foot bedroom along with the polk audio rm101 5 piece package. The sub was not as powerful as i would have liked. I would max the sub out watching the matrix or some other movie and the rest of the speaker would be less that half power. i added 4 15, and 2 18 inch subs to my system. But in reality, the sub would do just fine by itself in a small room. i usually have to go to the extremes when it comes to electronics :D

I just recently purchased the psw10 and i love it. pure sounding bass with a thud that is clear as a bell. I play my music loud most of the time and this sub can handle it. Movies are now much more enjoyable to watch also. It fills the room with sound no matter where you are sitting. I am listening to Dream Theater right now and the double bass drums are shaking the house. Goes excellent with my 6 Bose 301,s and my bose vcs-10 center speaker. Thanks Polk.

This sub is the perfect fit for my new set of Polk fronts (RTi6) and T20 bookshelfs. It adds a powerful element of depth to all forms of music - absolutely amazing sound quallity (I even had to turn-down the sub output level). My cable TV digital radio channels sound so much better - much more depth & warmth ... I stayed-up until 1:00 last night! Could not stop listening.

This Sub is very good for the price. I tested this sub with the stereophile test CD in my basement with cement floors and walls,it easily hit 100 plus db's. at 1 meter 108 db at 50 hz and even hit 72 db at 20-25 hz that's not too bad for the price. keep it set about 3/4 level max. This easily blows away home theater in a box subs!

Clean bass without boom!! Awesome performance when placed well. Nice looking in my oppinion as well.
Weaknesses:
The right placement makes a huge difference with this sub. I place mine in a corner and the bass still sounds unboomy. If you want pure slamitude, I would go with a more powerful Polk sub. You will probably also want to take the front grill off since it rattles a lot when you turn this sub up (I feel it also lets the sub breathe better as well when its off)
Review:
I have had this sub for a long time now and I also have another $350 competitor sub. And I feel the Polk PSW10 is better at low volumes than my $350 sub. Although the PSW10 of course does not go as loud as my other sub, this sub has less boominess than my $350 sub. When I listen to music at low levels, this is actually the only sub I prefer to use. Even when I crank my music up, I still have this one going since it accompanys my other sub well. The Polk PSW10 is very smooth in my oppinion. It also produces the complete bass range. I can only guess how good the DSW series sound if this sub sounds this good lol. I am using the speaker level inputs on this sub.

This sub is a great value, and it will do justice to any bass content I throw at it, be it from organ, synth, or recorded music.
Weaknesses:

I bought my PSW10 to provide the low end for my Hammond XK-3c organ and Roland Juno-Di synth, and I couldn't be happier. Along with my Polk T-15 bookshelf speakers, which I went back out and bought right after hearing the sub for the first time, my keyboard room has the best sound in the house. Until today I thought the sub in my 5.1 surround sound system was fine, but hands down, the PSW10 sounds better. I would recommend it to family and friends, and I would buy another one if I were in the market.

My system consists of Paradigm 5 fronts and Dayton audio center and rear speakers. Setup was simple and instructions basic. Fine tuning was pretty easy. I have the sub volume set at 1/4 and the low pass at 140. I used 10 gauge speaker wire for the high level inputs and outputs. Best part about the sound is that the sub seems invisible while the fronts sound like they have twice the bass output. Absolutely amazing. If I'd known how good this product was I'd have bought it sooner. Thanks Polk audio for putting together a terrific budget minded sub without sacrificing quality.

I have had this sub for about a year now and am very impressed. I use it both for music and movies. With my Yamaha Natural Sound RX-496 this sub shakes the house. I have read some reviews that say it will not shake the house but it truly does. I have heard some port noise while using a A/V receiver in a video game and possibly in a movie, but when using it for music the subwoofer is no joke and will make any room fill with clean bass. From stereo to 5.1 this sub will do the job.

I purchased these great "little" subs on sale at half price so I just had to get two of them, naturally.[always run two subs,or more if possible] They are installed in my 5.2 home theatre system[4x Polk RM 40, 2x RM 30 as a centre channel driven by a "big old" Marantz receiver}. Playing music they are very good.{ I have several other systems for "serious" listening}.Playing concert DVD,s and movies they are wonderfull! Don't let the 50 watt rating scare you, just buy 2 of them, and remember that 2x 50 watt subs are far superior to a single 100 watt in most cases. [Keep your eye on the sale flyers, they seem to come on sale for very good prices quite often}.Even at full retail price, they are still a VERY good deal. I won't bore you by trying to describe 'how they sound', they are subs remember, but in my opinion they will perform beyond any reasonable expectation in 99% of normal systems.[ We have 12 pairs of speakers in our home and 7 of them are POLK,so yes we are POLK audio fans with no complaints about any of these products].

Since it is my first subwoofer, I do not have any complaints to offer. In judging the initial response from my female peanut gallery, I am certain they'll warm to the thumping base especially during the Super Bowl halftime show.

The PSW10 is enough of a subwoofer for my needs. The space I have for home theater is very limited. Adjusting the volume per the instructions blends this new addition into my speaker array very nicely. Soundbar? Not on my 60-inch LED. I am ecstatic!
