Dynamic Balance® Drivers
Dual 10" (25cm) Dynamic Balance drivers have nearly 40% more surface area than a single 12" driver and a much greater force to mass ratio. The result is lower distortion and higher sound pressure level with superb detail and musicality for truly big, tight, emotionally satisfying bass.
Dual Voice Coils
High roll surrounds allow longer cone excursion for louder, gut-kicking bass. Both drivers feature vented, four-layer, long-winding-height voice coils, vented pole pieces, and aluminum formers, ensuring better heat dissipation and less heat build-up for a long life of big bass. Both drivers are magnetically shielded, so the PSW1000 is safe for placement near video equipment with no risk of video picture distortion.
Two Bass Venting Technologies
Slot load vent and PowerPort®—combine to virtually eliminate port turbulence and noise. The PSW1000 specializes in low distortion, high output, deep bass that you can really feel.
Klippel Optimized Woofer Structure
During the design process, a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, laser optimization machine is used to perfectly position the voice coil in the magnetic gap. This ensures that equal force is placed on the driver cone in both forward and backward travel. The result is tighter, more detailed, lower distortion bass.
High Quality Cabinet Construction
Heavy duty MDF Cabinet with 1 3/4" (4.5cm) side panels and rigid internal bracing—a level of craftsmanship rarely seen in subs at this price level—control vibration for near-zero cabinet resonance.
Furniture-Quality Finishes
High gloss lacquer finish with your choice of Ebony or Cherry real wood veneer side panels.
Stable Footing
Adjustable Carpet Spikes/Rubber Feet reduce bass coloration and ensure that the PSW1000 doesn't “walk around your room” like an old washing machine. Stiff, low-resonance, driver suspension keeps the driver stable for increased transient bass response and more musical detail and definition.
Polk Dependability & Durability
Huge, fire-retardant flat NOMEX® spiders provide highly reliable mechanical and thermal stability for safe, extended linear motion and long excursion bass. Convenient front panel control pod gives instant access to volume control, low pass adjustment, 3dB bass boost toggle switch and power indicator light to give you more immediate subwoofer control.
Amplifier Features
BASH amplifier combines the fidelity of conventional Class A/B amplifiers with the efficiency of Class D amplifiers. You get high power, cool, reliable operation with precise definition and low distortion. It's so powerful that it allows this amplifier to be rated at 825 Watts Peak—more than a whole horsepower (which is 746 Watts, in case you need to know)! The most sophisticated protection circuitry of any Polk amplifier ensures years of trouble free operation even under high stress use conditions.
Multiple Professional Connection Options
Multiple connection options, including filtered LINE INS & OUTS, SPEAKER LEVEL INS & OUTS, adjustable-filtered LINE IN and unfiltered LFE give you unprecedented hookup flexibility and more control.
Dual Metal Gold-Plated 5-Way Binding Posts
For the most professional, secure connections.
Available in 110 and 220 Volts.

Crystal clear, musical, hard hitting bass; and a very nice looking unit.
Weaknesses:
I would like to see a remote control added.
Review:
I never realized how 'muddy' sounding the other subwoofers I have owned were until I got this. Absolutely no distortion at the highest volume, the bass is crystal clear and thunderous. If you live in an appartment or a condo, I wouldn't reccomend this subwoofer; simply because you won't be able to use it to anywhere near it's full potential. I can hear it clearly outside of my house when I have my system cranked up. It's also a very nice looking sub; the piano black with the cherry wood is beautiful. I had read a lot of reviews on this subwoofer before purchasing it, and I didn't really know what 'musical' bass was. Now I know what I have been missing in my home theater system; I couldn't be happier with this purchase. My 7.1 system is now totally complete, and I can feel every explosion and gunshot... As well as having crystal clear tones with music. Perfect compliment to my Rti-12s, Csi-A6, RM-30s, and RM-10s. This subwoofer is expensive, but you won't think twice about the cost after you plug it in at home and try it out. Excellent product for both music and movies.

First off,i would like to thank all polk customers who took the time to give their views on this product. It was these reviews that comfort me when it came to spending my money for a GOOD QUALITY SUBWOOFER.For two years i was looking for a subwoofer that would complement the rest of my music system and for those two years my family that lived on the second floor and the first floor of our three family house hammered me on the third floor with their audio...To be of encourage ment to you reading this and thinking about getting this subwoofer..let me stop smiling for a bit and tell you, i now live like the true king of the house... i didn't even telling them about the speaker... when i hook that stuff up they know...it shook the entire 3 stores..ALL HAIL THE KING...

Extremely low distortion. Able to blend seamlessly with the LSi series.
Weaknesses:
Bulky and heavy--not weaknesses per se, but must be considered for overall placement and accessibility of controls.
Review:
I recently received my much awaited PSW 1000. It is matched up to my LSi15 mains, LSiC center, and two sets of LSiFXs for my 7.1 system in a 19x15x11 foot room. Background: I owned a PSW 350 as part of the RM 6600 series in my previous house, and believe very strongly in a subwoofer matching musically with its chosen speakers. I had tried the RM 6600 with a different brand subwoofer and found it to be lacking. My current system is a breathtaking blend of power and refinement. The PSW 1000 (successor/replacement for the ill-fated LSiW) matches seamlessly with the overall system, continuing the Polk goal of being an audiophile system for Listeners. The PSW 1000 gives an extra dimension of depth and power without masking any of the delicate nuances that my other speakers reproduce so well. It has lifted my listening experience to new highs. Definitely worth the wait and price. The only objection I have to the packaging is the absurd microscopic font/multi-lingual owners manual. For this grade and price speaker (or any consumer electronic purchase, for that matter) the manual should be top-notch and easy to read. This is a very minor point however as the Polk Audio technical support team is uniformly outstanding.

Review:
The psw1000 is an amazing sub. It looks as good as it sounds. I actually work for a polk dealer i had many choices of subwoofers. i went with the psw1000 because when compared to the other subs in its price range, it left the others far behind. The psw1000 not only pounds! but it's also a great tight, clean sounding sub that looks great on display in its corner of my living room.

WOW, thats all I can say. I had to replace my old Polk sub which was a PSW1200 that I had for about 7 years becasue the amp blew so I went out on a search. I must have spent about 3 hours in the store going back and forth between several subs and finally settled on the Polk. While at the store I also came home with a new pair of RTi10's. The PSW1000 and so much tighter and cleaner than the PSW12 that I had. I am a Polk fan, and all the speakers I own are Polk. Momos in my car, Polk in my house, Polk outdoors on my deck.

Extremely tight bass. Good Extension. Powerful Amplifier. World Class Build Quality. Detachable Power Cord.
Weaknesses:
Placement May Be a Bit Tricky. Power User Manual (for $1000.00 I expect better).
Review:
I purchased this sub as a replacement to my Mirage S12 which was a great sub. I initially purchased the Polk for it's amazing build quality. There is so much more to this sub than it's looks. Initially I was somewhat dissappointed with this sub, but after a bit of tweaking and room placement I was rewarded with insanely good sound. This sub is extremely powerful with good extension and super tight control. It may not be the biggest bang for your buck considering some of the offerings from SVS, but if you need a awesome front firing subwoofer that won't take up most of your living room then the Polk is for you.

Tight, clean bass with seemingly unlimited power.

Review:
When I upgraded my subwoofer to the PSW1000, I got a lot more than I expected. Yes, the bass was cleaner, louder and more defined, but what really surprised me was that the PSW1000 added another dimension to my music. I am now hearing what was previously lost on my other subwoofer, reproduced now in exacting fidelity. There is an entire lower end to my CDs and DVDs that I didn’t know existed. The sound stage for my Lsi9/LsiC speakers has doubled. At low volumes the bass is crisp and clean, and at high volumes I have literally shaken my toaster off the counter! This is a world class speaker and well worth the investment.

*** SIMPLY AMAZING & WILL ROCK YOUR WORLD *** Teamed up this incredible PSW1000 with Lsi15 (fronts), Lsi9 (sides), LsiFX (Rears)and LsiC (center). Controlled with an Outlaw 990 preamp and Velodyne SMS-1 Bass Management System. Powered System with a Monster 3250 and 2- Monster 2250's. If you don't find the "Lsi" series speakers and PSW1000 sub over the top and incredible, the BLAME is with your system cause these speakers are PERFECTION!

This is a very nice looking sub that allows the use of two subs with one enclosure. It puts out a ton of clean bass!
Weaknesses:
Very expensive but worth it.
Review:
I was so happy with the RC85i speakers I used in my home theater setup that I decided to try the PSW1000 sub. I have a big room (19.5 x 16) with a vaulted ceiling and open entries so I need something that would really hit hard. This is such a great sub it has way more power than you could ever need even in a larger room up to 24 x 24 feet. I have the sub turned up less than halfway and it shakes the whole house. It sounds great for music but home theater applications is really where it shines. I'm totally satisfied!

Man, I love this thing.....been doing without a sub for a couuple years, and my Lsi9's were holding there own. This is a very high quality sub, now my music has a whole new dimension. I play my 1000 at a low volume because I live in a town house....wasn't sure I really needed it 'till I tried it out. You don't neet to play it loud to enjoy it. It is so musical.....very clear, distinct, detailed notes and tones that blend in beautifully with the rest of the Lsi series. Hard to describe the combination of strength and refinement...this is truely an exceptional speaker. Not at all muddy or mushy.....and it keeps up with the mids and highs of the other speakers. It just has a beautiful, crisp tone that you won't believe until you hear it. Adds a whole new octive to my music.

A seemingly neverending supply of power without distortion; absolutely PERFECT blend with the other LSi components.
Weaknesses:
Port noise at high volumes/low frequencies. The port noise can get pretty loud. If you can get the sub farther off of the floor (mine is on carpet) it will allow the turbulence to dissipate better, reducing noise. I plan on trying this soon
Review:
I originally bought a set of LSi25s and a set of LSiFXs from a friend, and decided to heck with surround, the 25s sounded so good alone that I didn't even want to bother with surrounds, and so I took the FXs back to my friend, and traded them in with a little extra $$ for a PSW1000. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by this subwoofer. I've used subs from all different brands, JBL, Velodyne, Kenwood, and Adire Audio to name a few, but nothing has satisfied me like this sub. When I first hooked it up, I didn't even have the 25s' subwoofers hooked up, so I set the crossover at 120 Hz, and it was absolutely seamless with the LSi25 mid/highs. I added in the 25s' subwoofers, lowered the crossover on the 1000 to about 55 Hz and set the volume to a little less than half way up, no boost. The sound is pure bliss. It merges so smoothly with the 25s' subwoofers. And it seems like it has no limit to its volume. I've turned it up INCREDIBLY loud and have yet to hear a hint of distortion. However, I did catch alot of port noise at extremely low frequencies.

With volume set at 3, this sub is just shy of rattling my windows. While watching HBO's 'John Adams' miniseries last weekend I thought there was an ACTUAL cannon being fired in my living room. This sub really comes to life listening to R&B, watching movies with sounds like thunder claps, helicopter rotors, etc. The PSW-1000 is a seemingly perfect match with my Monitor 70 fronts, CS2 center, and Monitor 40 surrounds powered by a Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH. Excellent sub!

WOW what a subwoofer!!!!! I have a Rotel 1065 and my main speakers are Martin Logan that run a little shote on the bass side, my audio room is 18 x 22 and I needed more bass in such a large room. The PSW1000 did the job and more. If your looking for a great sub you found it. :-)

I had a homemade dual 15" sub. It took up too much room so I opted for the PSW1000. I was a little disappointed at first , but you have to compare apples to apples. It sounded better in the small room at the store, than at home. I added a second one, now my couch vibrates across the hardwood floor. Perfect! The best part, I haven't spiked them to the floor yet! Can't wait!

The cherry wood isn't real, doesn't match the Rti 12's.
Review:
Wow - I recently mated the PSW1000 with a pair of Rti12's and the results are stunning. Couple of points, the Rti 12's low crossover is at 120Hz. I don't like to pay for the same bass twice, plus I like tight clean focused base, so I have the sub working at 50Hz and below on a volume of about "3", creating a virtual four way system exactly as I had wanted. Incredibly tight, it only plays bass that is there, rather than creating it's own. Bring out the Virgil Fox!

One day Polk Audio may not offer service support due to shear age..:(
Review:
Submitting this because Polk Audio was willing to service my sub: Had this unit since 2005 and it has performed magnificently. However, I had a problem, the amp board suffered a failure. I took it to a local authorized service center in Vista, Ca and the techs were super and fixed it good as new. So Polk Audio is still willing to work on this unit model. Hooked it up to my 5.1 setup and it was booming like always.
