I have just purchased the PSW202 and what a differance it has made. We now really enjoy listening to my CDs and watching DVD movies as the base is now clear and full... we now hear the base that was there all the time, but was not being produced by my speaker system. A wonderful addition and a great value too.

Little distortion, seamless operation
Weaknesses:
slightly 'muffled' bass reproduction (depending on frequency)
Review:
Been waiting to get a sub to balance out the highs with some lows. Uisng a Mini-HiFi with about 250-300 watts as home theatre. Didn't want to spend too much and chose this little number. Not as clear in bass reproduction as more expensive subs but DEFINATELY great bang for buck and matches my system nicely.

Deep hard hitting bass with little distortion when tuned correctly.
Weaknesses:
Have to adjust level and frequency depending on movies or music.
Review:
I purchased the psw202 to compliment my home theatre system. I have Bose 601s up front, and while they produce awesome full range sound, they lack the deep bass I was looking for in movies. This sub blends nicely.

The bass the PSW202 produces is clean clear and crisp. It connects to nearly everything.
Weaknesses:
Depeneding on the frequency, at high volumes the sub distorts just a little. Thats not so bad is it?
Review:
This sub is nothing but greatness. The bass is clear and crisp. I have a set of Kenwood surround speakers and this matches them perfectly. You get a lot of boom for your bucks.

I've enjoyed Polk Audio products going on 18 years now and this sub is no different. With the crossover set 1/4 up from the bottom and loudness just under the mid setting, I hear bass in music CDs and DVD movies that I didn't know was there. You simply can't go wrong here for the $$$.

Good sound, deep, and awesome. All Polks seem very excellent for jazz and pop music, I really love the detail. I always recomend polks to my palls. This subwoofer is very good for disco or something like fast and loud music as well, however it is best for jazz and pop.

I received my PSW202 as a Christmas gift and let me tell you, it,s the greatest thing I have ever received! As soon as I got it out of the box I hooked it up to my Sony STRD333ES receiver and the bass just blew me away! I mainly use it for DVDs, however music sounds just as awsome! I have a pair of Polk Monitor 7s that I bought in 1990, and a pair of cheap JBLs for the rear. My Center Channel speaker is an Infinity!

I purchased one of these units about 2 months ago to compliment my BA 950's and so far, I am going on record to rave about the sound and quality vs price. I had a BA sub that I returned that was a couple hundred dollars more that the PSW202 but did not match the performance. I can't think of another similarly priced sub on the market that comes close to the bass produced by this sub. I had to tighten a few loose items on the wall in fact, mistaking the vibration for distortion. This sub should be in the $400 - $600 range.

Review:
My system which includes a Yamaha RX-V1200 6.1 and Klipsch speakers and KSW-15 sub, and sounds great. But it seemed to lack some low end with dvd action movies. I decided add a sub to the rear channel R+L. After listening to many different brands of all sizes and power ratings. I purchased your PSW202 10" 50 watt sub. Wow this small, by standards, little sub rocks! This made my home theater totally complete awsome speaker at a low price. I told everyone I know to purchase one and add it to their rear channel. Great job folks!!

I spent two days looking for the right sub and I found it when I came across the 202. The salesman began showing me a 699 dollar subwoofer but when I ask him to hear the 202 even he was suprized. We both agreed by far the 202 kicked the others for sound quality and price. Way to go Polk audio

Review:
I purchased the Polk R50's as fronts, the CSI30 center, and the R20 bookshelfs as rear/surround speakers. Polk had a good promo giving me this PSW202 with the purchase of my other speakers. At first I was skeptical. After hooking all the speakers up to my Onkyo receiver, and turning them on, I was AMAZED, I figured this little woofer would be drowned out. Plus the salesman told me that while Polks other speakers are superb, their line of subs are not up to par. Let me tell you... this little sub packs out the punch. I have 120 watts running through the rest of my system, and had to turn down this little 50 watt subwoofer because the bass was overpowering... Recommend to any mid budget system

Review:
I have had a 5 speaker system for the longest time, this sub is the last thing I was missing to get the whole works. I find that this sub is very simple to operate for beginners like myself and that the sound quality is very good for the price. It was just the sub I needed, the volume output could be adjusted, so that it will not over take my other speakers. The sound quality is clear, hits the low bass well. Now I know how important it is to have a good sub in order to get the most out of 5.1 surround.

Review:
the 202 is a sweet little sub!. I looked hard for a sub to match with the synergy line of Klipsch speakers. It is high praise that this sub can blend with klipsch's sf-1 floorstanding models matched with a sc-1 center. Not many woofers have the quality to even attempt that feat. Polk is very close to klipsch is quality. and I am sure that their higher woofers would blend with sf-2 or later series, I have a klipsch-polk set-up that does work. and it saved me alot of money to get the polk.

i recently perchased the PWS 202 and it sounds great. it produces so much bass i was stunned. my whole room (13 by 15)was shaking. i used the recommanded setup with the polk audio R30 floor standing speakers, together they sound great. i am very pleased with its performance. i think the most impressive attribute of this speakers is its price. it cost so little and puts out so much power. polk has done it again.

What can one say about a subwoofer. None of them are very pretty. They don't do much but sit there and go KA-BOOM. We often try to hide them behind a potted tree or under a table. But, oh boy, they add so much to your music that you'll drag out all your old CD's and play them with renewed fervor. Anyway, this PSW202 subwoofer is an excellent choice. It has a small footprint, a small price, and a big bass sound. Unless you want to start an earthquake - this is a dandy. You won't be disappointed.

Not enough boom with RTi70 as mains
Review:
I bought a complete new system including Onkyo 80W receiver and RTi70 standing floor speakers and got the sub for free during a promotion. The RTi70 are so wonderful and the sound is subpurb. I the sub was nice as it was FREE but if you are looking for a match to the RTi70 then I'd upgrade. Just not enough power and sound available. I'll be upgrading trading up soon as the sub now buzzes and pops. I need a 404!

Review:
I also received this as a free promo, and it certainly does its job. I mainly run HT, and it performs pretty well, for a sub of its size and build. Honestly, I will purchase another brand for a subwoofer, but it keeps kicking, so no hurry. I found two tweaks for this subwoofer helped me quite a bit. Spikes and more filling on the inside. Tightened up the bass, and dropped a small amount of the loose sound when playing at high volume. Just FYI. CYA!

Decent sound, compliments the rest of the system.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't seem to be able to handle the Onkyo.
Review:
I currently am on my third PSW202 in less than two months. It seems that my 80 watt per channel Onkyo TS-XR600 is a bit too powerful for this subwoofer. The unit is matched with R30s in the front, a CSi20 in the center, two R15s as the outside rear speakers, and a Sony (leftover from the old system) as the rear center. For some reason, during Star Wars II, the sub decides to 'pop' during explosion scenes rather than go 'boom'. If this sub also fails, then I will trade up (more power) to a sub (perhaps the PSW303) that can handle the Onkyo. When working properly, the entire package sounds exquisite. Other than this 'little' problem, the sub sounds great and does add a nice bass to the rest of the system.

Review:
Well had an Onkyo system and this went on sale for 299.99 for the whole rm6005 system. So I took the Onkyo system back and am not pleased with this system. I bought an Onkyo sr-501 receiver and the sub can not handle it. It bottom out at like 35 volume. I've tried everything but I gonna try another brand because this sub is bad. Polk Audio does not reconmend anything. So I am trying something else thought Polk Audio was good but I was wrong. I'am so dissappointed at this.

Overall I'm pleased with this sub considering I got it for $100 with the purchase of the RM6700 system. If you like it loud do not get this sub!!! It can not take it. Mine also made the popping noise everyone talks about. Polk will send you a new driver!!!! Go to Club Polk at the polkaudio website to get yours replaced. I am currently looking at upgrading to PSW404 or PSW505.

I can't brag about any strengths. But Polk gotta come better than this. This sub needs to be with a mini system or something.
Weaknesses:
It can't handle bass and that's the sole job of this speaker to produce bass. I hope the upgraded models don't perform like this one.
Review:
It was free that's all i can say. But it makes you wonder why they are giving it away free. If you have a receiver that kicks, then you will see why this subwoofer is being giving away. I had it for 6 wks and my base amplifier went out. It pops when it's not set to produce too much base.

Review:
I felt the sub to be less than average. The first movie I watched with my RM6700 system was the Matrix at 1/4 power the sub was bottoming out. It made a buzzing noise during gun battles. Needless to say I wasn't very happy. On the up side the RM6700 center, fronts and rears exceeded my expectations.

Review:
First of all, the folks writing the bad reviews sounds as if they are expecting to be able to turn up the volume all the way and expect this sub to handle an insane amount of power. This is a 50w sub and performs as one very well. At lower sub volume setting (25%) this sub performs extremly well. From music to movies, this sub handles all very well. I am very impressed with the cost/benefit of this product.I plan to purchase a second sub and surround package for another room in my home. I am sold on Polk's quality.

They are great for small rooms, or to be crossed for extended bass. These speakers are accustically matched with any polk systems.
Weaknesses:
These speakers are made for small rooms and they should be treated as such. For the price and quality, I can think of none.
Review:
I have a pair of these small subs as my back effect speakers. They are crossed with my RT35is. Their bass is excellent and solid. I run a Carver 500x power amp with the RT35is, the sudden draw of power and the THX sound track did not seemed to trouble them at all. For their price, they are great subs. I have also a pair of PSW404 for the front, and a pair of PSW250 on the sides for my 7.1 system.

Review:
I like all my Polk speakers, including this little sub. However, like several others have said my subs amplifier blew in less than a year and I don't overdo it at all. The good part is that Polk was great about it. I just returned the amplifier (not the whole thing, just the amp itself which unscrews and only weighs a few pounds) and they fixed it and I've no problems since. So even considering the problem I still give Polk an A for service and support.

I just bought a whole new set of speakers (R50 front, R20 rear, and PSW202 sub) for my ent. room. I've got to say, this is an excellent package. It does take a little while to properly tune the sub (filter, gain, positioning). I took about 30 to 45 minutes to get everything just right (recommend Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Little Wing). In the end I have it near the corner with the gain set to about 1 o'clock (65% or so) and the filter at about 2 o'clock. I hope these settings save you time if you have the R50. Enjoy.

nothing for what your buying (or recieving free) you are getting a 50 watt sub.. not 500
Review:
I have had this sub for exactly a year and 2 days and i'm very satisfied. I received this sub for free when i bought my RTi 10's (which i am also quite pleased with. I havn't had any problems w/ it and i feel that people expect far to much from a small 10 in. sub like this. It performs while playing smooth jazz to explosive action scenes. Also what people need to take into consideration when cranking anything up to a high volume is the amp your using. I for instance am running a Harmon/Kardon AVR 125- perhaps its not top end but it blow away any Sony honestly (sorry no sony for audio like this) So people that think it should eun like a 500 watt sub... just look at what your really buying- good luck everyone, this thing isn't nearly as bad as previously said by other reviews

I have a 28x14 ft. room. I wanted a beefier sub assuming the size of the room. My wife purchased this sub as a gift, and when I looked at the specs I was dissappointed at the power amp. output. Then I tuned it to my fronts and center, and was amazed at the sound quality and versitility of this little sub. I turned it up to test for movie explosions, and it held itself with little to no distortion. I'm very impressed with this product and may buy another Polk in the future.

I bought this amp at Future Shop and was open box, got $40 off. Been using steady for 1 yr and absolutely no problems. I have a fairly crappy amp, with a pair of r15's, r40's, and a csi3 centre, but this sub still shines. I rented the Incredibles like 2 weeks ago and this sub made the movie completely come alive. As with the somewhat overheating, you don't really need to put this thing over half. Also get a good sub cable to go with it, I paid $100 Can for a Monster Cable sub cable

After reading other reviews here, it's obvious that I might expect a problem with the amp. Polk admits a defect and says they'll cover you if indeed the amp blows. For now I can confidently say that this little box is doing great for what I need. I am using the PSW202 with a pro(and very flat)studio reference system for mixdown of professional audio recordings. Generally we mix at low volumes for long periods of time. The sub is needed to identify any problematic bass overtones before the mix is sent for mastering. For the money, I am very pleased so far.

i am an audio freak if i dont have a reciever that reproduces multi Channel (speaker) sound then ill shoot it with a gun but i have a set of 5 sony speakers and their all the same type of speaker and they sound great of course thats half because of my really great 10 year-old 500 watt 5.1 sony reciever anyway i wanted a new sub to replace my aiwa sub because the little 70 watt sub produced boomy sound at high volumes even though it never has bottomed out even though i have had the system up (LOUD) very loud but i wanted a sub that would still produce a rumble at high volumes so i decided to purchace this one and lets just say it would not handle my high volume maddness after 5 min. of testing at my high volume it started poping so i turned it down and it stopped so i thaught i would turn it up again and ... BOOM! the thing blew oh and incase you thaught i pushed it too hard (i baught the aiwa off of the website for 80.00

Blew it once, guess i pushed it too hard.

i gave this sub a 5 becuase it has good bass but at loud volumes it bottoms out, but i guess thats what 100 watts gets ya. if you want good bass at loud volumes youll have to pay alot more than 200$.so i say its darn good for the price. I listen to hip hop and rap so and it pumps alot of bass. One song this sub cannot handle at all is Get Low by Lil John and the EastSideBoys.

I looked around for a home subwoofer in this price range. This one blows all the competition away. All the others I looked at distorted when you turned up the volume, and lost sound.

Bought the sub because it was a great deal on clearance. Figured I couldn't lose. I have used a variety of subs and in comparison this one is average.

blends well with my RTi28's. Good, tight filler sub for small speakers.
Weaknesses:
Not powerful enough if you're looking to open a night club in your living room. Get the 404 or 505 for loud dance music.
Review:
Very good sounding sub for the money. Mine originally had one of the faulty amps, but after the free upgrade it's really performed well in my HT setup.

Very well built, has all the features I'd expect in a budget sub.
Weaknesses:
Lacks power and extension for serious HT applications and larger rooms.
Review:
Insufficient power for a medium to large room. It is relatively clean, but lacks any useful extension for the deep stuff. Good to fill in the bottom end for satellite and small bookshelf speakers, but don't expect room shaking bass from this guy.

Fullfill a small room with a good punch bass. Good crossovers.
Weaknesses:
Like I said, at low volume is very decent, pump it up and then you get dessapointed, but for that price you can't ask too much.
Review:
Pretty decent bass (when is used with right speakers & setup) Used as a 2nd sub in my bedroom with a pair of Bose 141 and got clean bass sound.

Plenty bass of clean quality for little money. For me a good start in the world of subwoofers. I like the TDA7294/93 IC, experimented myself with it. It is a very good sounding device in a full frequency setup.
Weaknesses:
Powersupply capacitors are low voltage/ modest capacity- devices. I'll swap them, looks easy accesible, shouldn't take more than 20 minutes
Review:
I bought a new stereo, Primare amlification, and small B&W 805s speakers on stands. Almost perfect for chamber music, vocal music. Clean, spacious, and details are fabulous. But my teenage kids weren't satisfied. They wanted bass!! I didn't want to spent a fortune, surfing around I found this one. Very cheap comared to the rest of the set. I mailordered it unseen, installed it and the kids love it!! It does exactly what they asked for. More good news, when I trim it carefully I start to like it too with classical music. I shall verify the set up with a testcd, but for the moment I think I found a position and setting that brings a usefull support for my B&W's. It is just a little bit, but it is a definite improvement. For the moment I think this is a good device to start to explore and expiriment further, would like to verify it with some real classy stuff

I bought this sub as a display model almost a year ago. I just came across this website in search of an owners manual, which I found and downloaded, Thanks Polk Audio. I am very happy with the PSW202. I know its an entry level speaker, but it sounds great. Great bass, full sound etc.... Thanks again for a great product. Now I just need to upgrade my surround speakers.

Nothing yet.
Review:
So far mine is lasting good. After 4 years I am still all excited about the performance, deep dry bass, shakes my walls. Since I recently bought a house, I will upgrade to a 800W Yamaha, but this unit got a place in my heart since it was my first sub ever, and I received a full new world of music. I hope mine will not break, as I will continue to use it in my bedroam. As I am a German, it would be hard to be shipped to polk, but I am sure they will send me the parts in case of failure, so I can repair myself.
