RM20 5-Pack
Five-piece 5 channel Home Theater Speaker System
Big Speaker Sound...Without the Big Speakers
Beauty and Brawn in One Compact System
Five compact speakers make up the RM20 compact home theater speaker system. Its stylishly sculpted anodized Pewter or Black finish Aluminum satellites look awesome next to your plasma or flat screen television, and can be mounted either on the wall using their aimable brackets or on shelves. Either way, this system was designed for minimal intrusion into your space, and maximum sound quality.
High tech materials and features, such as Satellite PowerPorts® venting technology, ensure superior system performance, delivering rich, full-bodied, big speaker sound from stylish, compact packages. Team the RM10 5-Pack with the Polk subwoofer of your choice, such as the ultra compact (but stunningly powerful) PSW111 to get a home theater speaker system of extraordinary performance that blends beautifully into any room.
The RM20 features:
•Stylishly curved satellite enclosures formed of heavy duty, non-resonant Aluminum; the shape breaks up internal standing wave resonance for pure, lifelike sound.
- Choose between rich Pewter or midnight Black finish
- Individual satellites are available to accommodate 6.1 or 7.1 channel systems.
- The satellites and center feature Power Port Bass Vents hidden under the grilles to extend and strengthen their lower-midrange performance for a seamless blend with the subwoofer output. Unlike competing satellite systems, with this system you'll experience full, rich, natural voices and other midrange sounds.
Center Channel Speaker features an exclusive Center Channel Cradle that aims the speaker toward the listener, from above or below the TV.
Polk does 6.1 and 7.1!
Building an EX or ES surround sound system for 6.1 or 7.1 (or more) speakers? You can get RM20 speakers in Single Center Channel (RM202) and Single Satellite (RM201) packs to fill out the speaker requirements of more-than-5.1 multi-channel systems. Ask your Polk retailer to special order them for you.

The finishes are hot. They work well for flat panel installs as well as book shelved.
Weaknesses:
As with all sattellite speaker systems you'll need a sub. I was unable to get accurate dimensions for the L&R on thier stands from Polk's web site
Review:
The speaker system was connected to a Denon AVR-787 reciever which matched amplification perfectly. Also connected the PSW111 sub for the low's. As a new Polk Dealer tesing a new product, I was impressed on how a larger room was filled with Dolby Digital content. My client is happy with his purchase.

Review:
Having spent several weekends researching sat/sub combinations I finally purchased the RM20 Five Pack from Crutchfield. I was intrigued by these speakers because of the overwhelming number of positive reviews that I read from this site and other audio forums. Over the last year I have been gradually replacing an older Bose Lifestyle 12 system. Replacing its 5 cube speakers was the last remaining element of that process. Having purchased the other components to my new HT from Crutchfield I figured I risked nothing by auditioning these Polk’s in my home. Crutchfield’s 30 day money back guarantee is the perfect way to shop audio equipment risk free. I started from the simple point of view that if these speakers didn’t really stand up and immediately impress me, they where going back. Out of the box I was immediately pleased with these Polk speakers. The build quality is outstanding. The aluminum cabinets are solid and impressive. The speakers have good weight and are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Mine are the pewter variety. Installation was very easy and straightforward. The included stands for the front left and right are very sturdy and make a nice presentation. I mounted the center on the wall just below my Samsung plasma. One gripe, however, is that the included mounting template was not an inverse drawing which is what it needed to be in order to be useful (that revelation was actually quite comical). No sweat, a level, a pencil, two marks and it’s done. I had hoped that these Polk’s would offer a noticeable improvement in sound quality over that of the Bose. I have not been disappointed. These speakers embarrass the Bose cubes in every way imaginable and I am qualified to make that statement as my ears have 11 years on my old Lifestyle system. These speakers present themselves very clearly. Voice is pronounced and smooth, while highs are not strained, harsh or tinned. Imagine, you can actually hear cymbals and hi-hats with these speakers. The gang from Framingham needs to think about that. Lows are not these speakers forte’ and a quality sub is a must. I am using a 300 watt Infinity PS12. While these speakers do need a quality sub to fully complete the soundstage, don’t misunderstand, they do produce noticeable bass. What I particularly like about my new setup is that the Polk’s produce enough bass to nearly eliminate sub localization. The Bose suffered from that terribly and I am really happy that the room fills with great even sound no matter where I happen to be sitting. My HT is in a fairly large and open room of 18X24 feet. Naturally, larger speakers would present a better soundstage and offer fuller sound, but due to architectural considerations a sat/sub system is a must for my application. I would like nothing more that to have a jewel Def Tech 7.1 system fronted by their beautiful BP 7002’s, but that just isn’t going to happen in my current home. Clearly, these Polk’s are positioned as a budget conscious speaker, but they deliver much bigger sound than their cost. I find that I am re-discovering music and movies and hearing nuances that I hadn’t before heard. Sound quality varies as one might expect with the quality of the source material. By way of example they present the Black Crowes “Amorica” and “Shake Your Money Maker” CD’s brilliantly. Robert Plant’s “Big Log” comes in with such definition that I can almost believe I’m sitting in the recording studio, while Al Stewart’s “Year of the Cat” CD leaves me hoping that sound engineer didn’t quit his day job. As hard as it may be to believe, Keith Richards actually sounds good on “Waiting on a Friend” with these speakers. The DTS soundtrack’s of “Master and Commander,” “Lord of the Rings” and “Stargate” are presented beautifully. During the early scene in “Master and Commander” when the French ship comes out of the fog and attacks Russell Crowe’s ship, I actually ducked because the sound of the incoming fire was so dramatically realistic. I am powering these speakers through a Denon AVR 2807 and am listening to CD’s through a Denon DCM 290 CD Changer. Bass comes courtesy of the aforementioned Infinity PS 12. While I also have the Denon Ipod dock, I did not listen to any MP3’s during the month that I have been evaluating these speakers. Clearly, one could easily spend more money and fail to get sound as good as what the RM20 Five Pack produces. My Crutchfield 30 day window has come and gone and my Polk’s are still here. Impression made.

Great sound, perfect size and fits my flat panel tv perfectly.
Weaknesses:
These speakers definately need a good Sub, but otherwise flawless.
Review:
I purchased this set 1 year ago and have never had an issue and absolutely love the sound. I have a 7.1 Harman Kardon AVR 635. I loved the set so much I just bought two more speakers to complete my 5.1 to a 7.1 system.
