Big Speaker Sound... Without the Big Speaker
Beauty and Brawn in One Compact System
Five compact speakers and a high performance Powered Subwoofer make up the RM6880 compact home theater speaker system. Its stylishly sculpted anodized Aluminum Satellites look awesome next to your plasma or flat screen television, and can be mounted either on the wall using their aimable brackets or on shelves. Either way, this system was designed for minimal intrusion into your space, and maximum sound quality. High tech materials and features, such as Satellite PowerPorts® and Subwoofer Slot Load venting technologies, ensure superior sub/sat system performance, delivering rich, full-bodied, big speaker sound from stylish, compact packages.
The RM6880 features:
- Stylishly curved satellite enclosures formed of heavy duty, non-resonant Aluminum; the shape breaks up internal standing wave resonance for pure, lifelike sound.
- Individual satellites available to accommodate 6.1 or 7.1 channel systems.
- The satellites feature Power Port Bass Vents hidden under the grilles to extend and strengthen their lower-midrange performance for a seamless blend with the subwoofer output. Unlike competing satellite systems, with this system you'll experience full, rich, natural voices and other midrange sounds.
Satellites feature a 3-1/4 inch (8.25cm) Mineral Filled Polymer Dynamic Balance midrange driver for clear, distortion-free midrange.
- Center speaker uses two midrange drivers to handle the center channel's high output requirements with minimal distortion.
- Center Channel Speaker features an exclusive Center Channel Cradle that aims the speaker toward the listener, from above or below the TV.
- Broad dispersion design allows everyone in the listening area to hear clear, well-balanced sound.
- Satellites feature high performance 3/4 inch (19mm) Dynamic Balance Silk/Polymer Composite Dome Tweeter for sweet highs and more lifelike imaging.
- Connect your RM Series Satellites securely and conveniently with their high quality 5-way binding post inputs.
- Powered Subwoofer with 10 inch driver and Slot Load Bass Vent pours out deep, efficient bass.
-
Satellites are magnetically shielded for safe placement near your state-of-the-art TV or video monitor with no risk of video distortion.

GREAT sound in a small speaker that almost hides in a corner.
Weaknesses:
None that I can see.
Review:
I have to say "CHEERS" to Polk Audio. I also have to give a 100% review. I bought these speakers in Jan 09, on sale at future shop. In my opinion they have awesome sound and a friend of mine even said he thinks they sound better than his bose. Anyway I blew up 2 of my satellites. Called Polk Audio and told them that I had lost my bill of sale, they told me that was not a problem. I mailed them from New Brunswick, Canada to Ontario. Sent them out on Feb,7 I got home today Feb,17 and found them sitting on my doorstep, fixex and working 100% again. And with service like this I can promise you that my next speaker purchase will be Polk Audio all the way. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!! Polk Audio

Exellent center channel, and the 4 sattelite speakers have superb sound quality. plus there black and match my onkyo 604. and there meatal so hats cool too.
Weaknesses:
the 10" sub is very responsive (more responsive then my friend Sayeds, he has the 6900 and it sounds better) but nothing else to complain about...
Review:
Amazing sound, very crisp without a hint of distortion. The 10" sub that it comes with is ok, but i dont know anyone that keeps a Home Theater Package subwoofer. Either you have youe own or youll buy a 12" pretty soon. The most impressive part out of this whole set is its center channel. Maybe its because i got a onkyo 604 set up right with these bad boys (drools). but you can turn it up very high without any distortion. the 6880's are a great purchase and i do not regret buying them.

Briliant highs and a strong midrange, matched nicely with a powered subwoofer.
Weaknesses:
This is a real Nit - The subwoofer does not look as nice as the rest of the set. Kind of industrial looking. I'm glad that's it hid behind the sofa.
Review:
I purchased this system as a replacement for a BOSE 3-2-1 system. The 6880s simply blows the Bose away. The highs are crisp and briliant, and the powered subwoofer shakes the entire room. Simply amazing. I had to remove the window grids due to the vibration from the low frequencies. This system sounds just as good playing low volume and high action sound tracks. Terminator 3 comes alive with this system. At the same time the stereo sound is just as nice. My musical preference is contemporary jazz. So theres a wide range between stereo jazz and high energy action flicks. Bottom line there's no compromise between home theater and stereo.

None
Review:
I have owned my polk rm6880's for around 5 months now and I have to say this is one of the finest speaker systems I ever had. I have been searching for speakers that have a sound similar to some ADS L520's that I used to have in the 80's. I have gone through several surround sound speaker systems and have not been happy till these. These speakers have a sound that is rare today. Few speaker companies know how to make a speaker anymore.I can tell that polk really put the engineering into these .The clarity, focus and balance from top to bottom is outstanding and the imaging is superb sounding like a larger pair of speakers.I have not heard sound like this for years. True high end sound at an affordable price.

Awesome bass(Subwoofer), Crispy highs and mid range(Satellites), crystal clear dialogues (center channel)!
Weaknesses:
lol..don't try to crank the volume up..You will start receiving complaints from your neighbors.
Review:
I bought this HT system to get the audio out of my HD set up.I was really impressed by the performance of the satellites and the Sub woofer.I have paired this system with the onkyo 805. Music sounds awesome (when listening with the neural THX 5.1 in my receiver). High def audio is awesome when watching movies in Bluray. The satellites look nice when used with the Polk speaker stands (SA-2 speaker stands). It's a nice system to start with, if you are looking to stay within a budget.

Weaknesses:
none that I found!
Review:
sorry, one funny part is someone above said the 6900 sounds better than the 6880, they are IDENTICAL, except 6880 is black, 6900 is silver! :) But in reality, its a GREAT system. compared to BOSE, its TRUE sound vs. BOSE fake surround. you should hear BOSE speakers w/ a high end receiver like Denon, FALSE!!! bose needs bose to sound good.. poor engineering. not something you expect out of a $3,000 system! 6880 hook up to any nice receiver, and you will be THRILLED! excellent quality, great crisp soung, clean, professional look. highely recommend.

great clarity from low volume to high
Weaknesses:
bulkier then some speakers, then again this sound better
Review:
after hearing this in the store display. I purchased an open box from circuity city. they had no new sets left. this speakers are great, I'd rank them up there with the procinema 600 which are way more then what i paid for the open box. I only wish I can find another set at the great price I got them for.. but they are worth the current price on the web.

Look nice
Weaknesses:
Poor instructions at best
Review:
I was more than disappointed when I went to set up the speaker stands and they didn't screw together and I had to drill the holes on the plates that are used to attach the speakers because they were to small.
Polk Response:
The satellites have 1/4" #20 threaded inserts on them which is a commonly used size for satellite speakers industry wide. They are compatible with several aftermarket speaker stands.
