Compact loudspeaker with Wide-Dispersion Array technology.

19.05cm H x 10.79cm W x 10.79cm D
The Original ''Big Speaker Sound without the Big Speaker''
The RM8 compact satellite speaker is the basis for the RM95 5-pack system and it makes up the front stage elements of the compact RM85 5-pack system. You can add a pair of RM8s to any RM system and instantly upgrade to 6.1 or 7.1 for today’s extended audio-channel Blu-Ray and DVD movies. RM8 compact satellite speakers, in conjunction with a compact subwoofer, are so dynamic that you can even use them to build a high performance stereo system in a small room or right on your desktop.
The RM8 Speaker Features:
The unique Reuleaux triangular polygon shape is acoustically ideal, minimizing resonances and standing waves inside the speaker to eliminate the “boominess” that makes other small speakers sound “muddy,” delivering superior midrange performance and lifelike imaging.
The Wide Dispersion Array design of the RM8 satellite speaker creates a more enveloping, less localizable surround effect by utilizing a second speaker driver facing away from its main driver to project sound out and around, the way lifelike sound really sounds.
Advanced driver geometry and state-of-the-art crossover wiring delivers a surprisingly deep and w-i-d-e soundstage, so these RMs are the perfect solution when you’re placing the speaker against or very near the sides of your TV and still want big speaker sound without the big speakers. (RM Series speakers are magnetically shielded for safe placement close to monitors and TV.)
Special anti-diffraction baffle design produces sophisticated accoustic sculpting, with the largest possible dispersion pattern and virtually no edge diffraction or distortion.
Composite driver technology works in tandem with the enclosure shape (and Polk’s patented Dynamic Balance® tuning process) to produce excellent flat frequency response, with sharp detail, transparent imaging and the ability to play loud without any strain, something you won’t find in other small speaker systems.
Silk/polymer dome tweeters deliver superior imaging and smooth highs.
RM Series speakers weigh just 3lbs, so you can put them virtually anywhere; on stands, on shelves, on walls. RM7 & RM8 speakers come with secure wall mount brackets. The RM8 also comes with a surface mount “tripod” base.
RM7 center & RM8 center speakers are magnetically shielded for safe placement near your monitor or TV, and come with custom-designed surface mount cradles for easy placement on any flat surface.
This RM Series is mix-and-match compatible, so you can buy them in sets or in pairs and build the compact sound system of your dreams, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 and beyond.
All RM Series speakers are professionally timbre-matched to sound perfect together in any speaker configuration.
All Polk Audio products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk Audio loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Very large sound field, and much louder then expected for such a small speaker.
Weaknesses:
Spring wire clips. Worst I have ever seen. Very weak.
Review:
I bought four of these speakers in the rm95 package. They really sound great for such a small speaker. My sound field is much larger now, and I can hear sounds in movies and games that were not there before with my old speakers. The only downside to these, are if you listen to music very much, they really lack in mid bass when played with rock music. For rears, or surrounds though, these speakers are really great. I can't wait to go to a 7.1 system with some of polks larger bookshelf speakers up front. The biggest draw back of these speakers are the spring wire connectors. They are easily the weakest ones I have ever used. The wires come out very easy. I doubled over my wire to make it thicker, and it seemed to stay better.

Clarity, crisp clear highs, good looking.
Weaknesses:
Lack of low midrange.
Review:
I'm really happy with my new speakers. I got a great deal and they sound leaps and bounds better than the shoddy Pioneers I replaced. They're not top of the line but for the price you'd be hard pressed to find better speakers. They do lack a little mid lows but that's to be expected with satellite speakers. Polk seems to have addressed the cheap spring clips as mine were as tight as can be. Even with very low gauge speaker wire, it's as tight a fit as you could ask for. I would recommend these to anyone with a limited budget looking to put together a decent home theater.

12 out of 12 people found this review helpful.Strengths:
Sound reproduction, build quality, appearance, freq. range, size, weight, comes with mounting brackets, power, dual woofers, high quality tweeters, hard hitting when you want, smooth and warm when you don't.
Weaknesses:
Wire connections (I guess).
Review:
I'm tired of people saying that these speakers don't reproduce mid-range very well. They get down to about 90-100 Hz easily and if you're setting your subwoofer crossover frequency any lower than that, you don't know what you're doing anyways. That's another thing, these speakers (in whatever configuration you have; for me, I have the RM95 set with 4 RM8 surrounds and the RM8 center)are meant to be paired with a subwoofer. I have mine paired with the SVSound SB12 sub and it blows everything in the price range away. These speakers are incredibly clear and perfect for near range or semi-near range speakers. Again, with this size speaker, you can't expect them to project like floor standing speakers from 25 feet away, but for anything between 7 and 15 feet, they're unbeatable. In the price range, they're the best I've heard, hands down.

Good sound, clarity and can play loud with any distortion.
Weaknesses:
Non found any weaknesses.
Review:
I buy this speakers for sorround and the RM8 Center. But first I connect it at front speakers terminals in order to prove them. I get so amazing with the clarity of the sound and the loud it plays music and movies that decide to let them as mains front speakers, then move the front to sorround back. These are pretty and perfect match wiht my home theater gear that have the piano black finish. I highly reccomend it to any home theater specs (big or little).
