RM95 5-pack
Big theater thrills from compact loudspeakers. Add a sub for extra excitement.
The RM8-based 5-Pack System
The RM95 5-pack speaker system asks only to be matched with a compact powered subwoofer to make it the best, reasonably priced multi-channel compact home theater system you can buy today. Looks smart, complementing your stylish flat panel TV, and sounds much bigger than it actually is, thanks to advanced Polk Audio technologies and superior design. The RM95 5-pack is composed of four high performance RM8 compact satellite speakers, and a matched RM8 center channel speaker. Experience rich, full-bodied, “big speaker” sound, with a wide soundstage and natural imaging, from this compact powerhouse. Additional RM8 Satellites can be added to easily transform an RM95 5-pack into a 6 or 7-channel system.
The RM95 Features:
Convenient 5-pack packaging: The RM95 5-pack system includes four RM8 compact satellite speakers and one RM8C center channel speaker. Add the powered subwoofer that fits your space to round out the system.
The unique Reuleaux triangular polygon shape is acoustically ideal, minimizing resonances and standing waves inside the speaker to eliminate the “boominess” that makes other small speakers sound “muddy,” delivering superior midrange performance and lifelike imaging.
The Wide Dispersion Array design of the RM8 satellite speaker creates a more enveloping, less localizable surround effect by utilizing a second speaker driver facing away from its main driver to project sound out and around, the way lifelike sound really sounds.
Advanced driver geometry and state-of-the-art crossover wiring delivers a surprisingly deep and w-i-d-e soundstage, so these RMs are the perfect solution when you’re placing the speaker against or very near the sides of your TV and still want big speaker sound without the big speakers. (RM Series speakers are magnetically shielded for safe placement close to monitors and TV.)
Special anti-diffraction baffle design produces sophisticated accoustic sculpting, with the largest possible dispersion pattern and virtually no edge diffraction or distortion.
Composite driver technology works in tandem with the enclosure shape (and Polk’s patented Dynamic Balance® tuning process) to produce excellent flat frequency response, with sharp detail, transparent imaging and the ability to play loud without any strain, something you won’t find in other small speaker systems.
Silk/polymer dome tweeters in the RM8 speakers, and woven silk tweeters in the RM7 speakers, both deliver superior imaging and smooth highs.
RM Series speakers weigh just 3lbs, so you can put them virtually anywhere; on stands, on shelves, on walls. RM7 & RM8 speakers come with secure wall mount brackets. The RM8 also comes with a surface mount “tripod” base.
RM7 center & RM8 center speakers are magnetically shielded for safe placement near your monitor or TV, and come with custom-designed surface mount cradles for easy placement on any flat surface.
This RM Series is mix-and-match compatible, so you can buy them in sets or in pairs and build the compact sound system of your dreams, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 and beyond.
All RM Series speakers are professionally timbre-matched to sound perfect together in any speaker configuration.
All Polk Audio products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk Audio loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Size, quality and fidelity of sound!
Weaknesses:
I have not found any yet.
Review:
I have had a Bose AM system for the last 15 years. I always thought that it sounded the best for movies and music. however, when I actually was able to listen to the RM8's with the PSW111 sub, I was very impressed! Being an engineer I'm pretty critical about items I purchase, but after I heard these I purchased them directly from Polk. I have these attached to a new Yamaha RX-V765 AV receiver, and once I used the audio calibration there was nothing but sweet sound in my family room. I'm still analyzing, but I am becoming a Polk fan the more I listen to these great little speakers.

Speakers are small, compact, and clear.
Weaknesses:
Spring connectors - minus 1 star
Review:
Good set of speakers. Speaker stands are also available at Visions - Quest model TM100B will work. I have the 5 speaker system running right now off of a Pioneer VSX1018AHK and added 2 older Sony towers for front and a PSW125 to complete the 7.1. Overall I'm pretty impressed.

Great sound that fills the room for both music and movie listening.
Weaknesses:
Size. May be a little large for some peoples taste and room decor.
Review:
Hooked up to yamaha v661 along with Polk DSW 400 subwoofer. Beautiful full sound with a good range of highs and lows. Speakers seem to easily handle full volume of receiver with no cracking or loss of quality. Speakers came with wall mounts that are relatively easy to use but do leave a little bit of exposed wire. Heavy construction and the feel and sound of a high quality product. The subwoofer is great with clean pure and responsive base. Only negative is the size of the rm95 speakers ( a little larger than most) but I obviously saw that when I bought them. I felt the better sound was worth a couple of extra inches in speaker size.

Great sound output, can catch the high frequencies and they sound very crisp and clear...not distored even at high volumes (+5DB or more).
Weaknesses:
They only handle 50W RMS, but peak at 120W. Not very speaker stand friendly (unless you buy Polk RA3 stands which are very expensive).
Review:
I think that for the price (600$) these are perfect SATs that compliment any high-end surround system (Yamaha RX661 is what I am using). They can take what my reciever dishes out w/o any noticable distortion or loss of sound quality at high and low ranges/volumes. I added the Polk DSWPro500 sub and now have a kickin system that plays BD-movies and music-DVDs to a high level standard. I have the speaker cutover range at 100Mhz and the sub range @ 50Mhz on an LFE connection. sounds amazing to me...why pay 1000s when you only have to pay 100s to get great sound in a smaller (15x15) bedroom. Perhaps for a larger room I would go with more expensive higher output speakers/sub, but this system would probably handle a larger room anyway. I have listened to Dio, Sabbath, Lamb of God, Testament, Overkill, and Slayer on 5.1/DTS DVD's at high volumes and they sound crisp and clear w/o boominess (true surround bass sounds that fill the entire room, not just one booming bass area). So I give them a 4 star (4.5 really, but its not an option). I only use this system for movies and DVDs...have not played any stereo CDs on it yet so take that into consideration.

Clairity, and range. Loud for such a small speaker. Actually nicer looking then I expected.
Weaknesses:
Lack of midrange with music.
Review:
I gave these a 3, based on their sound for gaming, and movies. Music really lacks any midrange with these small speakers. These are my first surround sound speakers that were not part of an all in one package. pairing them with a denon 1909 reciever and psw111 sub. I bought them primarily for gaming and the occasional movie, not so much for music because my wife and I really don't care for each others taste. These speakers sound great for gaming. I noticed many subtle sounds that my old sony speakers missed. The sound field is also much larger. I would not recommend the rm8's if you listen to alot of music. The small woofers are really not up to the task of carrying midrange bass very well. These are going to make a great starter 7.1 kit though. I can't wait to hear them paired with some larger polk front speakers. I imagine that they will sound amazing. The worst things about these speakers are the spring wire connectors. They are the weakest springs I have ever seen on a speaker. The wires are very, and I mean very easy to pull out of the jacks. I actually had to double over my wire to get it to stay properly. When I connected the first speaker, I actually thought that the wire jacks were broke. After trying out the other speakers, I realized that they are just very, very poor. I will be calling polk to see if I somehow received defective speakers, but I doubt that I did. All, in all, these speakers are suited perfectly for gaming, and do the job for movies. Music not so much.

Sound clarity. Compact size and small weight. Great value for the money.
Weaknesses:
Hard to mount on stands. They were designed primarily to mount on the wall. Table-top "tripods" are not tall enough. Spring wire connectors and not deep enough to hold pin connectors securely.
Review:
I just hooked these up to my Pioneer 1018ah receiver. The quality of this 5.1 surround sound system is just astounding. Even my wife likes it a lot now though she did't feel the need for us to get HT system. These are perfect for our apartment. They nicely mix in with our decor and don't take up a lot of space. My biggest complaint is the design of the mounting part. First of all, most speakers have it in the back, not the bottom like these. As a result, I realized the best option for me would be to use the angular pin connectors (bare wire was not even an option for safety concerns). I found that spring wire mechanism is not deep enough to hold the pins securely. I couldn't use the table-top "tripods" that came with the speakers because they weren't tall enough to prevent the pin connectors from touching the surface. The surround sound speakers I mounted on the stands, not the overpriced recommended SA2/3, using the L-bracket,which I had to bent horizontally to hold speakers. Luckily, because of the light weight of the speakers there is no danger of them to tip over. Despite these minor shortcomings, I strongly feel RM95 speakers are the best for the money.

I replaced my Bose cubes in the kitchen with these and i love them. they handle power very well at high volumes. I am running all the polks on an Onkyo 7.1 receiver. I dont think you can get a better for the price.
