Wow what a system. The sound on the RMDS1 is fantastic. When set up and running a DVD the 5.1 dolby digital is the best I have heard.......Bose what a waste of money compared to this Polk piece of kit. The sound clarity and definition is awesome and the thumping sub will give you as much bass as you could possibly want. Be carefull you don't break your windows

Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, June 2000
"[The amplifier is] a serious power plant..."
"This is the best teeny-weeny satellite/subwoofer system I've heard."
"The subwoofer is extremely powerful and capable of very, very deep, controlled bass."
"This system can play surprisingly loud. I clocked over 105dB... with no sense of strain or compression except to my eardrums."
"What was surprising was the system's impressively smooth, open tonal balance."
"...imaging and the sense of an 'acoustic bubble' were both impressive."
"I kept this system in my home theater for well over a month and enjoyed every minute I spent with it."
etown.com, November 1999
"$2699 for a complete system this good is not just a ‘good value,' it's an outright steal!"
Home Theater, December 1999
"Not only did the subwoofer produce smooth, and well-defined bass, it produced a ton of it. The output of this subwoofer could put many a 15-incher I've heard to shame."
"The RMDS-1 system proved to be one of the best sub/sat systems I have ever heard. The soundstage that the little sats threw up was immense, and their rendition of subtle details was incredible."
"Once again the subwoofer took me by surprise with its ability to pump out bass information with precision and impact."
"The whole system sounded much larger than it really is, especially the center speaker-dialog from the center sounded very natural, and leapt out from the TV screen."
"The RMDS-1 is a very simple system to operate, and a joy to listen to. Where so many sub/sat systems have fallen short, the RMDS-1 excels. This system easily garners the coveted Hot Ticket award, and my highest recommendation to anyone looking for a well integrated, excellent sounding home theater system."
Stereo Review's Sound & Vision, October 1999
"[The RMDS-1 is a] first rate performer...more impact than you would get in many suburban cinemas."
Digital Home Entertainment, Winter 2000
"Set-up and installation of the Polk Audio RMDS-1 was a snap."
"I was amazed at the accuracy of the 8-inch subwoofer which seemed to produce profound midbass while at the same time delivering low frequency extension similar to a larger 12-inch woofer. I would rank this subwoofer among my personal Top-10 of favorite subs I've ever heard."
"In the opening scene of Armageddon other systems I've reviewed sometimes shake my pant leg, the RMDS-1 punched me in the chest."
"[The RMDS-1] is certainly capable of amazing your friends and pissing off your neighbors... [it] certainly sets a new standard in quality and sound for others to follow."
The Inner Ear Report, Volume 12, #2, 2000
"[The RMDS-1] actually delivered authentic dynamics, resolution and awesome bass information like a large (and expensive) HT system... [it] delivers astounding performance, not at all indicative of its price."
Soundstage.com, December 1999
"[The RMDS-1 has] great power, articulation and detail... I think it's a terrific value."

"[The RMDS-1] actually delivered authentic dynamics, resolution and awesome bass information like a large (and expensive) HT system... [it] delivers astounding performance, not at all indicative of its price."
Smart Business.com, May 2000
"The RMDS-1 sounds amazing. It has excellent frequency response through the mids and highs, and a subwoofer that could raise the dead. The whole unit is rated at a top-end volume of 105 decibels (a loud rock concert), and even at full blast the speakers don't distort the sound."
From Widescreen Review, Fall 1999
" First off, I hope your house is made of bricks, blocks or something substantial, because this little system will blow your doors off! These little (but heavy!) speakers are amazing."
"Polk stresses the RMDS-1 is designed for ease of use and setup. I hooked everything up in about 15 minutes and it all worked correctly the very first time! Color coding of the supplied speaker cables made hookup a breeze."
"Well done, Polk!"

Ambassador Magazine, March 2001
"The four six-inch-tall satellites and a slightly larger center channel speaker performed beautifully right out of the box, no adjustments required. As for the subwoofer, my house was shaking, and a menagerie of terror-filled squirrels, raccoons and mice scampered satisfyingly in all directions."
