SOUND Quality!!!
Weaknesses:
None, just make them cat proof.
Review:
I have had these Speakers since 1999 and they sound just as good as the day I got them. True they have seen better days. They bare the scars of a excited cat. But cosmetics aside, they still rock!! Right now they are hooked up to a NAD T747 A/V reciever and it drives them great! I have had techs from a local installation of home theaters listen to them and they can't believe what they hear. They said the Bass is crisp and tight and the highs are silky, airy and natural sounding. Awesome. I wish they Bring them back or even the LS70 so I can use them on a NAD two channel set up ;)

Biwire, 6.5" subwoofer, great finish, and carpet spikes that are customizable.
Weaknesses:
The use of a seperate subwoofer is highly recommended.
Review:
First off, let me say that these were my first Polk tower speakers that I have ever bought. I tested the RT600i, the RT800i and finally the RT1000i's. I really like the speakers because I believe the create very crisp and clean highs while producing tight lows. Though the addition of a subwoofer will greatly help in producing sub 30Hz bass.

Built in powered subs, High-end sound, and quality, good value for the bucks.
Weaknesses:
You need to own your own home to really appreciate them. Add a sub for movies.
Review:
This is the second pair of polk speakers I've owned. (sda-II) true stereo before. These are excellent. The front end of my home theater. I blow away everyone who comes over, and I havn't even heard what they can really do yet. My reciever is only 100 watts times six. Can't wait to open up the other 150 they can handle. WOW... They look good too...

Overall range from Highs to deep bass. Also sesitivity, doesn't take much to push them.
Weaknesses:
Carrying them up three flights of stairs
Review:
These are my second Polk speakers so far. I've had a pair of RT7's until now and bought a complete surround sound package a few days ago. These speakers are downright breathtaking. I'm running a 120 wt. Kenwood through them and would be thrown out of my apartment if I turned it up past 1/3 power. With two powered subs I don't see the need for any additonal bass. The other two reviewers seemed to think so. This is definitely speakers that belong in a house because even the RT 7's are too much for an apartment. I've owned the Bose Lifestyle system also and Polk has them beat hands down.

Small footprint, can put next to wall. Lot of bang for the buck, sound great a low listening levels for movies.
Weaknesses:
Imaging, clarity, transients and fullness. But then again I am comparing them to a pair of 1986 Klipsch Cornwall's that are going in the family room.
Review:
Best sounding small tower speaker in Circuit city listening room. Can handle power w/o distorting. I guees it is being discontinued, so I got a great price.

Review:
I got these speakers about 3 months ago and have heard a night and day improvement from my previous speakers. They definetly need a receiver that has some power to push the sound. I am a huge movie buff and will watch the same movie over and over. When I hooked up these speakers I began hearing things from the movies I did not know existed. I am so impressed with these speakers I have completed the rest of my surround sound speaker collection with the Polk line.

The rt1000i's have good power handling

Imaging isnt great
Review:
I had a chance to listen to these speakers in a sound studio.I was very disapointed by the way these speakers sounded for their price. Theye sounded like good speakers in a box,and the imaging was awful.I hope that you get a chance to listen to speakers before you buy them. If you are looking for speakers at this price I suggest NHT or even Mirage.

Review:
i use a different set of front speakers, polk ls90s. I placed one of the 1000s in the left side wall with a polk lx500 mounted on rear wall , and the other on the right sie wall with a wall mounted lx500. this gives me diffuse and direct sound along with great bass.

SMALL FOOTPRINT,EXTREMLEY CLEAR SOUND,NATURAL BUT POWERFULL BASS,REAL WOOD,NO SUBWOOFER NEEDED!
Weaknesses:
A TAD TOPHEAVY...IF YOU HAVE KIDS OR A DOG.A LONGER POWER CORD TO REACH MY POWER CENTER WOULD BE COOL!
Review:
I'VE OWNED THESE POWERED TOWERS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS,THEY REPLACED 8YR. OLD LX-44 JBL'S.THEY ARE TRULY REMARKABLE! CLEAR,CONCISE&WITH NON-BOOMY BASS THAT GETS TO THE POINT!AFTER FOLLOWING POLKS RECOMENDATION FOR NOT USING THE RCA CONNECTIONS,THEY HAVE TRULY EXPLODED TO LIFE.{LOW PASS FILTERS THAT CANCEL EACH OTHER OUT!}THEY TRULY ARE NOT ONLY VERY MUSICAL,BUT I NOW KNOW WHAT A TORPEDO EXPLOSION NOT ONLY SOUNDS LIKE,BUT FEELS LIKE!

Surprising good bass from a small sub (nice to have a lil more), decent clarity, sturdy, and good value.
Weaknesses:
Inconsistent sound at times.
Review:
I've had these speakers for over a year. These RTs provide good overall sound. But, the sound can be inconsistent at times, a bit scratchy and highs too tingy at lower to mid-level volumes. Try these speakers with a higher-powered A/V unit, my pair sounded much better, especially at a higher volume. I too listened to these RTs at Circuit City, it provided better clarity and depth than other models I listened, like the higher-end infinities in the showroom at the time. Deep, responsive bass from such a small subwoofer. Good value overall.

Superior sound, Awesome quality, great customer service, I could go on and on!!!!
Weaknesses:
Unless you just happen to get a bad set there are no weaknesses, but Polk will stand behind any bad speaker and make it right. You can't go wrong with this speaker.
Review:
Superior sound, I can't say enough about this speaker. I have the RT1000 not the RT1000i. They are set up with the cs400, fx500, and the psw650 in a 24x30 room. This is an awesome system for the money, the quality is outstanding. I have other family members and friends that have tried to get the same sound from other brands such as Bose and Klipsh but have not been able to even come close to the amazing sound of my Polk setup. They refer to my house as my own private theater and prefer to watch new movies at my house on my Polk system then their own or a movie theater. Top notch all around!!!

4 years and still going strong as if you was pulling them out of the box.
Weaknesses:
you discontinued them
Review:
its probably to late to say anything about a discontinued speaker but i have to.ive had the 1000i's for 4 years now and still today im impressed with them. i look and wonder if i should update but something tells me NO.i have an onkyo thx ultra 2 reciever and pushing my 1000i,500i,400i, and the 300i for the ex it still today sounds amazing. ive been around today and listen to the new ones out there and even polks new line. and i still say they broke the mold when they made these. yes i agree you need additional sub for movies but music nope i like the clear clean bass from the 61/2's. yes the tweeters start to distort at high levels but thats called cruntching espaecially with pull your hair out music. matbe someday ill upgrade. but for now im lovin them still.

Review:
Superb. I've had the RT1000 for 7 years and they are as good as ever. I routinely check-in on other manufacturer @ friends and the sound doesn't come close. I'm going after the center and surround sound to round out my lot. Polks are fantastic!

Awsome surround imaging, and crispness.
Weaknesses:
Top heavy and just plain heavy..Why in the world would polk disco these great speakers? Bad marketing decision.
Review:
I purchased these speakers back in 2002 at circuit city in Saint Clairsville, Ohio. But when they were "good", they were great sounding. I still love and use them, but i have added a 300 watt seperate sub.

Warm sound, great bass, build quality is first rate - these were built to last.
Weaknesses:
Not a weakness by any means but these things are HEAVY. Probably pulled something bringing them downstairs but at least I know Polk didn't slouch putting these things together.
Review:
Late review, I know. I just got these at an absolute steal. For the time being, I have them hooked up to an older Onkyo stereo receiver(70 watts x 2)and am just blown away. For my listening room, a separate sub woofer isn't needed in the least. Bass is tight and full but midrange clarity and imaging isn't lost one bit. High end is a bit laid back and may even seem a bit boring for some but absolutely perfect for me. I've had some BRIGHT speakers in the past but these RT1000i's ain't one of them.
