Real wood. Real high performance.
This tiny powerhouse of a speaker doesn't need much copy to set it apart from its peers. It's small enough to fit just about anywhere, with a real wood finish that looks great on the most prestigious naturally finished speaker stands and AV furniture, and sets new performance standards for speakers in its size and price class. It's available not only in the new real wood finishes of its fellow RTi Series speakers, but also in a matte white laminate finish.
The RT15i features:
- Superior home theater and music performance
- High efficiency for great performance even with low power receivers
- Surprisingly deep bass response for such a wee enclosure is provided by a rear-firing Power Port venting system built into the speaker's back plate, which doubles as a convenient keyhole wall mounting bracket
- Dynamic Balance® composite driver cone for wide response and low distortion
- Anti-diffraction bezel and grille system minimizes grille-edge reflections for more open, spacious, lifelike imaging
- Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC) Port System reduces unwanted internal enclosure resonance for utterly clear and lifelike midrange reproduction.
- Available in FOUR natural wood finishes, each standard at no extra cost: choose from Maple, Cherry, Black Oak and Matte White
- 5-way binding post inputs for the most secure wire connections
More About The RTi Series Bookshelf Speakers
When a floorstanding tower is too big, but you still want powerful, quality sound, Polk RTi Series Bookshelf speakers fit the bill perfectly.
Wood at Vinyl prices - The first thing you'll notice about the RTi Series is their luxurious real wood finishes: beautiful light Maple, inviting Cherry, and serious Black Oak (the RT15i is also available in white). What will really surprise you, though, is that you won't pay a premium for these distinctive real wood finishes. Because of our in-house computer controlled woodworking factory, we can offer these rich finishes at prices you'd normally pay for vinyl.
After the look, there's the sound. The RTi Series Bookshelf Speakers pack the unique Polk technologies found on larger Polk speakers -- like Dynamic Balance drivers and exclusive rear-firing Power Ports -- into stylish smaller packages. The RT55i, RT35i, RT25i and RT15i are bookshelf speaker systems boasting the sonic attributes of the best and costliest examples of the genre: superior linearity, definition and imaging at a price well within your reach. The bookshelf RTi Series produce bass that's rich, deep and satisfying - far beyond that of bookshelf speakers costing upwards of twice their price.
The RTi bookshelf models are intensely musical, presenting a large soundstage without sacrificing pinpoint localization, and are so transparent that they allow you to focus on the entertainment values of the performance without thinking about the speakers from which the performance is emanating. RTi Bookshelf Speakers are superb music listening speakers. At the same time, they possess the wide dynamic range necessary to make them great choices for home theater systems, particularly when teamed with a powered subwoofer.
Pick up the modestly priced RT15i (go ahead, pick it up!), then pick up a similarly-sized bookshelf speaker from another manufacturer. You'll immediately notice that the Polk speaker is heavier, more solidly built, and sports a superior fit and finish. Now compare the sound -- Go ahead, we said COMPARE! You'll choose the Polk, we stake our reputation on it.

Low distortion at high watts x small package = butt kicking price performance point.
Only for small rooms or could use 3 sets with mongo sub woofers in open rooms.
All in all...totally crankable small room speakers. When mounted on the wall; the rear-firing Power Port venting system built into the speaker's back plate, which doubles as a convenient keyhole wall mounting bracket; turns your drywall into a resonating companion to your RT15i.

I was in the market for a couple of small bookshelf speakers after getting rid of a couple of older large floorstanding speakers in a moving sale. After hearing the these little monsters I don't miss my old speakers at all. The sound is full and clear. I love them! Polk makes a great product...

clarity punchy bass for a small enclosure
Wonderful little speaker that fills a small room well. Replaced Bose 201s with these and noticed an immediate increase in clarity and bass response. They are the mains in my home theater and I am very pleased.

Wonderful imaging, bass and highs. Great price for what you get.
Some low end distortion during DVD explosions, etc. at higher volumes. This can be easily fixed by adding a subwoofer with a low-pass filter.
I went to the store looking for bookshelf speakers consigned to the fact that I would have to live with sub-standard performance. How I was surprised. I have never heard such a wonderful sound from such a small speaker. At first, I kept looking around to see if the store had a subwoofer running, but all that bass was coming from these little giants. Amazing.

"...mid-range was very smooth and vocals were reproduced naturally...they image beautifully. Acting as relative point sources, I was able to obtain very natural instrument sizes with good orchestral depth, height, and width.
If you're in the market for a small bookshelf speaker, give these a listen."
