Real wood. Real high performance.
The heart of the RT5000 system is the RT3000p front loudspeaker, a 4-piece "powered tower" system consisting of left and right full-range speakers and dual powered subwoofers.
The RT3000p features:
- Cascade Tapered Array provides wide angle dispersion insuring high quality sound for off-axis listeners.
- Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC) port system reduces unwanted internal enclosure resonance for utterly clear and lifelike midrange reproduction.
- Subwoofer volume control on front panel for easy access.
- Dual 8" woofers combine the speed and musicality of small drivers with the equivalent bass output of a single 12" woofer.
- Power Port patented bass venting system vastly reduces air turbulence at the mouth of the port for lower distortion and more powerful bass.
- Magnetic shielding allows safe placement near TV screens.
- Wood veneer laminated to low resonance MDF cabinet panels for furniture grade appearance and lasting value.
- Subwoofer LFE input for use with 5.1 Digital Surround systems.
- 300 watt high current internal subwoofer amplifiers with adjustable low pass filters.

Review:
I have owne these speakers for about a year now, and have been very impressed. They serve as a dual purpose speaker in my home theater. When watching DVD's, these speakers will SHAKE the walls, and you will be looking over your shoulder to see where the sound is coming from. When playing music, the speaker is capable of reproducing the most intricate sounds, from the fingers strumming over the gutiar strings, to the tight bass of a drum. To find a speaker that can fill the roll of home theater and music listening so well is amazing. Go try the yourself, and you will be sold on them too!

Everything known to man.

Review:
I have worked as a retailer of speakers and home audio equipment for about 5 years now. I can honestly say with out a shadow of doubt that these are the best quality speakers for a home theater to have. To reproduce the power you feel when you watch movies is uncanny, if your a lover of music or movies you don't want to be without these speakers

They make you realize that you will never have to look for or buy another home audio package ever again....
Weaknesses:
They cause all your friends to hate their home audio systems.
Review:
It really is funny, I bought my RT3000's last year about this time in the RT5000 Package. When I called to order it the lady on the other end went: oooo thats nice... I havent heard a negitive word about these speakers the whole time I have had them. The funny thing is I have yet to hook them up. They 2/RT3000's 2/FX 1000's 1/CS1000 1/PW650 and a CS400 for my rear center are all still sitting in the boxes. Every great once in a while i have to remind myself that I own the greatest speakers I have ever heard "in a store". I am getty for the day I hook them up. I bought these speakers knowing that it would be atleast a year before I bought a house to put them in... but I was impressed at first sound and had to have them....

Sound quality. Self amplified base. Lots of hook up configurations.
Weaknesses:
I have an ATI 2500 amplifier driving these at over 300 watts class A. I CAN push them to their limits, but that is at ear piercing levels!!!!
Review:
What can I say? Just the best speaker in this price range, period. I have been around many sound systems and find these compare well to some systems costing much more. All you could ask for is more sound. But not better sound. At least not at this price point. I have been very happy with these speakers. I would have to go at least $3,000 a piece to get something that would make a noticeable difference in sound quality.

everything

Review:
By far the best "powered towers" I have owned yet by polk. I have owned the RT1000i's, RT2000i's, now the RT3000p's. Each gets increasingly better and better. The imaging and soundstage are that of a small concert in my house. The bass extension goes deep for home theater and music is reproduced flawlessly. A very affordable pair and I have yet to hear speakers twice the price that sound better.

Lots and lots of everything!!
Weaknesses:
I no longer get the fun of checking out new speakers becuase these baby's are gonna be staying for a while !!!
Review:
I had a pretty decent Polk set up already but felt like I was lacking something in my theatre system. I decided to go with the RT3000P to give more range in my fronts but after some checking around found that they were getting scarce as a discontinued set. I had almost given up when I tracked down an RT5000 set up. WOW !!! I'm SO glad I did. These things are perfect. Thanks Polk !!!!

They just continue to sound better the more clean power you feed them and the better the cables you use.
Weaknesses:
None.
Review:
I had lusted after these from the first time I laid my eyes on the RT5000 system. I picked up the center and surrounds for half price at Circuit City and used them with my old Monitor 10B's. But I needed more bass for home theater from the fronts. Polk discontinued these and when I went back to CC, the fronts were sold. I was crushed. I then found the fronts at a Crutchfield outlet store a year later. I'm so glad I did. The system is now seamless and impresses everyone. If you can find these on E-bay, don't pass them up.

Review:
Funny that I am writing a review of the Polk RT5000 system after almost 9 years of ownership. These are the greatest sounding speakers that I have ever heard. I can tell you this that I am never going to buy anything else. I have set them up in my basement and rveryday I look forward to listening to music. Absoluteley love them and am proud to own them.

Review:
I have owned these speakers since their inception and they are truly a system that will impress most audiophiles. I own 2 pairs of the RT3000p's one for front and rear and the CS1000p for the center channel. They are the BEES KNEES( THE BEST) when it comes to the ultimate in Home Theater Speaker Systems!! I have mine upstairs in my sound room powered by a Yamaha 7.1 processor and Adcom power to the satellites. Thanks for building such a great system that has lasted and performs as well!

Home Theater, September 1999
"...the RT3000p generates a huge sense of space from stereo recordings...Audiophile CDs came through with tremendous depth and the sound seemed to wrap around me...voices sounded so clear and so natural through the RT3000p..."
"These subs [built-in to the RT3000p] strike a great compromise between the brute force of a big 15- or 18-inch sub and the finesse of little 8- and 10-inch subs... [and] give me all the low end I'd ever need."
SMR Home Theatre A/V Magazine, 1998
"With surprising bass performance that will rock your world, a clear and musical midrange, a smooth, clean, completely unfatiguing treble, all coupled with superior imaging and sound staging in a speaker that is made to be driven to the extreme with modest amplifiers, the RT3000 is on my hot list. [Whew!] If you are planning a video system, make damned sure you check these bad boys out. If you are planning a music only system, ditto. If you are planning a combination audio/video system, these speakers are the ones that may just let you have your cake and eat it too."

Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, December 1998
"...it [RT3000p] goes very deep with more oomph than you're likely to find in any powered full-range speaker anywhere near this price point." "From subtle, detail-intensive soundtracks to big blow ups, the RT5000 is equally adept."
"It has all the 'wow' you need for the biggest, boldest material-both soundtracks and music-combined with the sort of resolution and detail needed for more laid-back, intimate sound."
Widescreen Review, May/June 1999
"With high-powered amplifiers, this system will deliver impressive dynamic contrasts whether the source is a music recording or a demanding film soundtrack."
"The direct radiating subwoofers of the RT5000 system [with RT3000p as front main speakers] deliver a tight, punchy bottom end that is well integrated with the midrange."
"Overall, the sound from this system was smooth, well balanced and dynamic. It was forgiving of flaws in the electronic components and the recordings while still offering a lot of detail. The system is easy to set-up and provides complete adjustability so you are likely to hear just what I heard, if you install a Polk RT5000 system in your room."
"This is a very well engineered speaker system that looks good and plays loudly with modest amplifier power. Its cost is reasonable for a system with five powered subwoofers and it can cost a lot less with smaller surround speakers. I enjoyed listening to music and film soundtracks through the Polk RT5000 speaker system and I can recommend it highly for home theatre use and for music listening."

"...remarkably easy to listen to...the RT3000p's a great speaker, period... Anyone looking for new speaker ought to start here first. You might just discover you need look no further."
