RTA 11t Line Source Loudspeaker System:
Polk Audio is pleased to announce the introduction of a new home loudspeaker system, the RTA 11t. The RTA 11t is a tall, elegantly slender and deep "tower style" system which utilizes to full advantage the low diffraction characteristics resulting from the minimal frontal area intrinsic to its design to achieve outstanding imaging and low coloration.
It incorporates two 6.5" trilaminate-polymer bass midrange drivers which are symmetrically arrayed above and below a 1" polymer dome tweeter. This configuration results in the acoustic center of the two drivers coinciding exactly with that of the tweeter for almost perfect coincident radiation of the midrange and high frequencies. This results in superb driver blending and further improves imaging. In addition this driver topology achieves line source radiation of the midrange which further lowers coloration by reducing floor and ceiling reflections. The two 6.5" bass-midranges drive two 8" sub-bass radiators which are precisely tuned to different frequencies in order to further extend, control and smooth the low frequency response. The RTA11t will be available in black, walnut and rosewood vinyl finishes, as well as natural walnut and oak at a surcharge in price.

Look great more modern looking than most older boxy 2 channel speakers. Very clear vocals, strings and highs. Nice polk punchy lower bass not boomy or midbass over driven.
Weaknesses:
Low bass little weak for a full range speaker of this size. Bass driven voice ripple at higher levels, common with a two way setup. The low radiator bottoms out pretty easily making a scary cracking sound. I use these with harmon kardon 2 channel 120 wpc which is very under ratted as far as power output.
Review:
I have many sets of polks from vintage to complete Lsi 7.1 setup. The Rta11tl's are very comparable to monitor 10's. Little better in highs and clarity alittle less in lower bass. Better imaging very clear at moderately high levels. They seem to be more accurate than 10's.

Full warm mids, snappy quick bass, efficient design. Still a capable, competitive design by todays standards.
Weaknesses:
Grills are cloth type, and can attract snags, and lint over time. Speakers are a bit larger than newer similar offerings from Polk today.
Review:
Couldn't agree with the 1st reviewer . I find the bass much heavier than to be expected from a speaker of this thin design. As a former HiFi salesman, we sold many other brands including Polk. The RTA11tl's outperformed more expensive speakers from others when comparing similar tower designs. Also the Polk Monitor 10's don't even come close on bass extension or level. I know, I've compared them side by side. Also the 10b's have a cheaper tweeter (sl2000), and retail for quite a bit less, so it's really an unfair comparison for the monitor 10b's. As for power, the advantage of Polk is not having to require a huge power amp to drive them properly. I have an 80 watt system that easily drives the Polks to very loud levels cleanly. ANY speaker can be overdirven when too much is asked from it, even with smaller amps, but the RTA11tl's will let you know long before breakup that you're hitting it's limits. Myself, I like loud systems, but rarely have I driven the Polks to that point at all. In fact, I was the guy at the store that played systems the loudest, yet I never have blown a driver on any speaker EVER. MOST speakers will begin to strain when you reach their furthest limits, your common sense then tells you to back off a bit. Rta11tl's are fairly efficient speakers that do not need huge power to achieve good sound. Dumping more power on them will achieve nothing more. So listen to your speakers, whatever they are, since the type of music and it's dynamic peaks and valleys, will dictate how loud they are capable of being played, not some power figure. Music is not a fixed static source and common sense will tell you what is possible. Listen ! As for the 11's capabilities, full warm mid's, nice highs, and snappy quick bass with decent extension. I use mine with a good powered sub, and still run the polks full range, with the sub adding more depth and lower extension.Only a handful of great speakers can match a powered sub, so why fight it. A lot of speakers with good bass extension can often bew tubby and slow in the upper bass, and can muddle the mid range as well. The RTA11tl's with a sub, give you the best of both worlds, with none of the trade offs. Find yourself a pir of these towers if you can, you'll have to spend quite a bit more today to equal the RTA11tl. Sometimes it pays to buy used ...
