RTA 12C Line Source Loudspeaker System:
Polk Audio's never satisfied engineers wanted to eliminate the problems associated with unwanted reflections caused by placing the high frequency tweeter on the front surface of a cabinet. The sound patterns, produced by the tweeter, radiate along the surface of the cabinet and the resultant reflections cause imaging distortions. They rob the listener of the ability to accurately hear all of the potential benefits of stereophonic reproduction. With the aid of Polk Audio's newly developed digital sampling fast Fourier transform computer testing procedure they were able to place the tweeter on the top of the speaker's cabinet, completely eliminating the problems associated with troublesome diffractions.
•Open air mounted, phase aligned high frequency radiator.
•Tri-laminate polymer drivers.
•SL2000 moving coil dome radiator.
•SW120 fluid coupled planar subwoofer.
•Complex dual isophase crossover network.
•Anti-diffraction "ramp" is used to eliminate any spurious high frequency reflections from the top of the cabinet.
The sonic result is a cleaner, clearer, more lifelike sound with greater power handling and dynamic range capability than ever before.

Beautiful, deep sound with crisp highs. First class sound. Designated left and right channels.
Weaknesses:
Framed fabric covers unique and delicate--placing anything on top of these would certainly cause damage.
Review:
Fantastic range at all volumes. Loud as you could possibly require. If you can find these anywhere, snag them up--but bring wheels, they weigh 62 pounds each.

Acoustic guitars sound really natural, great drum presence, excellent highs and mids.
Weaknesses:
Soft top and large size makes fitting into odd sized rooms a challenge. (Wife hates them). I did buy a Polk subwoofer to add the extra low rumble in movies.
Review:
Bought these speakers new almost 30 years ago. Use them with a Hafer 500 and they still sound great. Most people that hear them wish they had some. Buy them if you can find them.
