Real Wood. Real High Performance.
Polk Audio designs and manufactures speaker cabinets to exacting audiophile specifications. These RTi Series Bookshelf Loudspeakers are enclosed in more warm and inviting real wood than ever before. Given the choice between vinyl and real wood, who wouldn't choose real wood?
The RTi28 is the successor to the famed RT25i, winner of Stereophile Magazine's 2001 Budget Component of the Year Award. The RTi28 carries on the tradition of sonic excellence and unsurpassed value that brought Stereophile to write: "It [the Polk Audio RT25i] is far superior to any speaker I've heard for less than $500/pair, and has become my favorite speaker for under $1000/pair... I've never been more impressed by an inexpensive loudspeaker." Stereophile, September 2001
The RTi28 features:
- Real wood cabinets, including real wood fronts and backs, finished in Cherry or Black Oak veneers, for about the price of vinyl.
- Reformulated poly-composite Dynamic Balance drivers with butyl rubber surrounds for durability and smooth wide range response.
- 1" silk/polymer composite dome tweeters for clear, detailed highs.
- Mylar bypass capacitor in the crossover extend high frquency response and improve detail and transparency.
- Anti-diffraction grille and narrow baffle with raised driver bezel to minimize grille diffraction for spacious, 3-dimensional imaging.
- Power Port bass venting for clean, low distortion bass you can really feel.
- Power Port vent doubles as a convenient, strong, built-in wall mounting bracket for easy, safe placement.
- Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC Port) technology for more natural midrange reproduction.
- Magnetic shielding for safe placement near video sources.
- Gold-plated 5-way binding post inputs (with wide holes for large-gauge bare wire connections) for the most secure connections and the most versatile wiring applications.
Classic and classy, the RTi28 Bookshelf Loudspeakers are built to furniture-grade design standards for the decor- and performance-conscious audiophile. Real wood, and superior performance, at vinyl prices -- a great Polk Audio tradition continues.

imaging, clarity, cripsness, natural tone, realistic!
Weaknesses:
for it's size, not complaint.
Review:
If you though the RT 25i's were incredible, just wait unitl you hear these babys. Even more crispness in the sound, more natural, and definetely better imaging. I live in a college dorm and every person on the floor that has heard them has done the "it must be a polk speaker" test. You stand in the middle of the room, closey our eyes, put on something like "hotel california" from the eagles (on stero, but don't tell them that!) and they can literally point out where different instruments are. OR you can just walk everybody in blindfolded and fool them to think there is a live band in the room. live band, the new rti28, same difference right? By the way when demoing, I used an Onkyo txds595 reciever if you were wondering.

If you are looking for a speaker that becomes invisible, with great imaging and a very even frequency response... Your look is over!
Weaknesses:
It does much more than can be expected of a speaker with a 5.25 woofer. Add a nice sub and it's EVEN better.
Review:
I was shopping for a pair of rt25 speakers the other day. What I thought to be the perfect speaker for main, rear and center in a home theater system. Well, I was wrong. The rt25 is second best... When I had a demo listen to the RTi28's I was floored. with my eyes closed I lost the speakers in the showroom. I could only tell what side of the room they were on. However, I could tell where everything on the demo CD was! A fabulous image. These speakers can go considerably higher in Hz than the human ear can hear and and are studio monitor flat down to below 70hz. I picked up a pair right away! (for a tiny sum of $300 dollars) I auditioned them with a sunfire true subwoofer Jr. providing the bass. And a nice Yamaha rig providing the power. Run (don't walk) and pick up your RT128's today! You'll thank Polk AND yourself.

Phenomenal clarity, imaging, and excellent construction. Great value for the price.
Weaknesses:
Need a subwoofer to close the range.
Review:
I'm completely estatic with the quality of the audio performance and construction these speakers. As suspected (from all the review materials) these speakers really need a subwoofer for optimum listening experience. I'm using currently using these as main speakers for music and movies in a mid size room 15x24, couple with Yamaha amp and a sub--happy as a clam.

Great clarity, distortion free. Nice highs and mids. Good bass for this small of speaker.
Weaknesses:
For a small speaker....none. I will purchase a subwoofer for more bass.
Review:
I just moved into a new condo. I have limited space for an entertaiment center due to an installed gas fireplace. In other words, no space for big floor speakers. I read great reviews about the RTi28's. I went to Circuit City and purchased a pair. WOW!! These are great little speakers. I listen to all kinds of music, I have over 700 cds, and everything sounds great. The digital music channels that come with my cable sound terrific. My next purchase will be a sub and the surround. I will definatly buy Polk.

lets say compairing a Porche to a Mustang Corbra, both can do it all but look at the $$$
Weaknesses:
Bass, but for the savings you can buy a super sub for $500 that will fill in the blanks
Review:
Well lets just say that I am a Klipsch man and have been for the past 16 years. I purchased a pair of RTi28 from Circut City which I have never shopped for Home Audio speakers for and this is after I had some spair time on my hands and dicided to listen to some speakers and when I asked the assistant to put on the Rti2 it sounded so so clean and smooth not to mention real and live like for such a small speaker and after listening to everything in the store I decided to purchase the speakers for my rears and I purchased the CSi30 for my center and in the surround sound setup they sounded great but I decided to put one of the RTi28's on one side and my Klipsh RP3 tower speakers on the other and all I can say is that I was very dissapointed in the bigger tower speaker (price,size,rep,10"sub,)I like my Klipsch speakers but they were "whooped" buy a lightweight speaker as far as what it gave to my listening situation. Bottom line is they are worth the +/- $300 I paid for them.

Review:
i needed a really good pair of surrounds, so i went to circut city and saw the RTi28 speakers. i couldn't believe how good they sounded, and the price i got them for was un believable too! 69.00 dollars each. they were in store demos and there was nothing wrong with them.

Superb sound with stereo CDs, DVDs
Weaknesses:
None that I know of.
Review:
Returned my rm6700 and replaced with rti28. What a difference it makes. the rm6700 were not convincing listening to stereo music (but were perfect for movie surround). the sound quality is amazing on these- i give it four-star because I only got them couple of days back from circuit city (great place to shop).

Close your eyes and it sounds like the much more expensive Bose 301, even better. Unbeatable value
Weaknesses:
Could use a bit more bass, I'll be buying a sub with the hundreds i pocketed over
Review:
I bought a pair of RTi28's from Circuit City for a dorm due to limited space. Put them on a Harman/Kardon AVR225...I expected the system performance to be limited by the speaker but I was wrong. These handle a very broad range of frequencies and handle them superbly. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Clear, heavy, solid wood, great lows, room filling sound
Weaknesses:
None to think of for speakers this size
Review:
I purchased the RTI28's 5 years ago and I'm still using them for my main 2 channel (along with a Polk sub) music system. The clarity (with a touch of warmth) makes the presence of the music amazing for speakers this size. I have not heard anything (for under $1500) that my system does not have the upper hand. These actually sound better as they age. I use with my Pioneer Elite receiver and top grade speaker wire. I installed spikes on bottom of both speakers.

Rich, happy sound
Weaknesses:
Paint scratches easy on black model
Review:
Currently using these for my 1969 pioneer sx-990 with huge amounts of bass , they sound incredible! The sound is so pure and warm and given the small listening area the bass is great as long as Loudness is turned on. Polk once again has perfected speaker design for a vintage device
