Bookshelf speakers combining performance and value.
Soundly based on dynamic balance.
Consisting of one floor-standing and three bookshelf models, the S series offers upcompromised performance with unmatched value. The way tweeters and drivers are matched, the way the crossovers are designed, the way the cabinet mechanics are "voiced" to the components, the way the custom-made screws hold it in place, serve to make the S series a great choice for any indoor home loudspeaker application.
The S8 incorporates the SL5000 Dynamic Balance 1" dome tweeter and the new MW8000 Dynamic Balance 7.5" driver to produce the power and authority of an 8" driver without the typical midrange distortion. A 7.5" bass radiator is incorporated to complete this design. The larger driver, bass radiator, and S Series tweeter produce a level of performance you might expect only from larger floor-standing loudspeakers, yet due to the efficiency of this design it can still be tucked into a bookshelf.

Deep bass, good overall sound.
Cabinets look a bit bland.
Just picked these up used and I wanted to give a review since there aren't any posted. They sound very good. Good tight bass and clear mids and highs. Nice and smooth sounding, not harsh. The cabinets are not all that great looking and they are a plain black but they have stood the test of time well. The mid woofers have ruber surrounds and have also stood the test of time. The tweters look practically new still. I don't know if the guy before me took care of them that good or not, he said that they were in his garage for a while. I was surprised at how full the sound of these were! I had to unplug my sub since these already had so much bass. And, like I said the bass is very tight. From Mozart, to Pink Floyd, to the Krystal Method, these sounded great. If you can find a pair get them. I got mine used for $40. I am running them through an all Adcom setup and was using some Boston subsat sixes before. Compared to the Boston's, the highs are about as clear, but the sound is much fuller overall. The subsat six is still a great speaker setup, especially for anything with some nice acoustic guitar or sweet woman's voice. But for deep emphasis, the s8 is the way to go and it has nice highs as well.
