RTiA Series Home Theater Speakers

The RTiA Series will take you by surprise in more ways than one. They’ll fill your home with the majesty of an orchestra, the intimacy of a string quartet, or the drive of your favorite band. You’ll experience the big cinema thrills of your favorite movies with gut-checking realism. All in beautifully finished, furniture-grade real wood cabinets that look great in your home. And all at a price that may be the ultimate surprise: much less than you’d think.

Real Wood, Real High Performance

The RTiA Series delivers the perfect balance of high performance musical accuracy and home theater thrills, in a beautifully finished enclosure of real wood.

Home Theater Magazine reviewed an RTiA9 system and gushed, “The Polk system impressed me the most with its huge dynamic range.” [8/08, Home Theater Magazine] RTiA is perfect for experiencing high octane action movies in all their aural glory, or listening to a jazz performance at a more intimate volume.

RTiA speaker enclosures are crafted in a process specifically developed for Polk called Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation (DAHLI) design. It consists of a durable 11-layer laminate (6 strong solid layers and 5 damping viscous layers) topped with a layer of beautifully finished real wood. These delicately curved enclosures are acoustically inert, producing less audible coloration, and internally braced for non-resonant strength.

Available in floorstanding, bookshelf and timbre-matched surround and center channel models, the RTiA Series delivers clear, accurate sound at a price you wouldn’t expect to pay for speakers made with real wood.

Technology & Features

Real Wood Finish

RTiA speaker enclosures are crafted in a process specifically developed for Polk called Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation (DAHLI) design. It consists of a durable 11-layer laminate (6 strong solid layers and 5 damping viscous layers) topped with a layer of beautifully finished real wood. These delicately curved enclosures are acoustically inert, producing less audible coloration, and internally braced for non-resonant strength.

Curved Cabinet Styling

The elegant design is rigidly braced, eliminating panel resonances and delivering less audible coloration and more efficiency.

Dynamic Balance® Design Technology

Dynamic Balance is our patented advanced analysis of a speaker’s entire electro-acoustic and mechanical system. It helps us select better materials and more efficient geometry. With deep analysis, we can pinpoint and eliminate things that reduce performance before they become a part of the finished product. The silk and bicarbonate driver materials in the RTiA Series are specially tuned to produce a flat, uncolored frequency response. This true transparency reveals a wide dynamic range, with sharp details, and no hint of strain.

Klippel Distortion Analysis

The state-of-the-art Klippel distortion analyzer uses lasers and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion. We use this technology to test speaker motors (the moving parts) while they are still in the prototype stage. We can tweak voice coils and spiders for optimal motion, ensuring that a speaker will perform well at both low and high volume levels.

PowerPort®

Classic PowerPort bass venting uses an innovative exterior port design to reduce “chuffing” and “port noise” at the mouth of the speaker’s bass port. This reduction in performance-robbing turbulence delivers more big musical bass with less distortion than conventionally ported or sealed enclosure designs of comparable size.

PowerPort Plus

When classic PowerPort is not enough, PowerPort Plus uses two ports (one front, one rear) and a set of internal “plates” to further reduce air turbulence and increase bass efficiency. PowerPort Plus allows even lower frequency tuning and lower turbulence for less noise and distortion, and more big musical bass, even at lifelike volume levels. This technology delivers performance that vastly exceeds conventionally ported speakers. You will feel the difference.

ARC® (Acoustic Resonance Control) Port

Acoustic Resonance Control technology suppress internal cabinet resonance to ensure clear, non-muddy midrange, for a more natural sound.

Premium Connections

High-quality, gold-plated 5-way binding post inputs ensure snug connections. RTiA floorstanding and bookshelf models feature bi-wire and bi-amplification capability.

Timbre-Matched

Achieve incredible realism and seamless surround effects when you build a complete timbre-matched RTiA system. Polk matches the components within each speaker series; all models feature the same components and tuning, and makes for seamless blending of the sound.
