Total Custom Sound, More Flexible Applications
This single-driver model built-in loudspeaker gives you even more flexibility when it comes to choosing installation locations. Use the high performance TC65i as stealth surrounds in your RTiA home theater system, or as dynamic whole house speakers. Because they feature moisture-resistant components, you can even install them in kitchens and bathrooms, or in transitional areas of your home; places you never imagined having loudspeakers! Built-in PowerPort bass venting in this model, in conjunction with Polk’s unique infinite baffle tuning, defeats performance-robbing turbulence to reveal surprisingly deep low end response and big bass impact, far beyond what you’d expect from a built-in loudspeaker of this size.
TC65i Features:
Easy one-cut, drop-in installation puts built-in audio within reach, with Perfect Fit templates, a precision flange, and (available) pre-construction brackets; achieve secure, vibration-free efficiency with a simple turn of the patented Rotating Cam system.
Rustproof stainless steel hardware, durable Butyl rubber surrounds and powder coated aluminum grilles make TCi Series speakers suitable for high moisture areas like bathrooms, transitional spaces or even under eaves or in the ceiling of an enclosed porch. (TCi series are not suitable for exposed outdoor use. For outdoor speaker fun, use our Atrium® Series.)
Paintable grilles let you build them in, and then forget all about them; TCi Series practically disappear into any room.
Silk dome tweeters deliver clear and detailed highs, without fatigue, even at high volume.
TCi Speakers are specially engineered to utilize the “virtual enclosure” of your in-wall and in-ceiling space to enhance their bass response and smooth low frequency blending with the midrange. In-wall performance enclosures are available separately for even more superior dynamics!
Polk Audio’s proprietary, patented Dynamic Balance® technology allows our engineers to design out distortion-causing driver and system resonances, so you only hear the good sounds.
Easily accessible custom audio controls allow you to tweak your sound for optimum performance in any installation: Use the reflective room (tweeter) compensation switch to digitally compensate for harsh reflective surfaces, and the wall distance setting toggle to compensate for proximity to corners or adjacent walls.
PowerPort bass venting is Polk Audio’s patented design for smoothly transitioning the air flow from the port into your listening area, eliminating turbulence and distortion, for bigger, more efficient, deep bass impact.
TCi Series speakers are timbre-matched to Polk Audio RTiA speakers to insure utterly seamless blending from speaker to speaker in systems that combine traditional and built-in speakers.
TCi Series speakers are packaged one-per-box, so you can use singles as front or rear center channels, or as additional-zone speakers anywhere.
All Polk Audio products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk Audio loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Ability to adjust tweeter was key to getting the right sound. Improved bass response from tuned port helps.
Weaknesses:
None to speak of.
Review:
I had two pairs of these installed in a LARGE great room with vaulted ceilings. The speakers are installed in the ceiling so they point down toward the center of the room and are more than 12 feet off the floor. At first they did not sound as good as I expected from Polks, but it was the room, not the speakers. We hadn't moved in yet and the room has hard wood floors, bead board ceiling and lots of glass and sheet rock, and did I mention it is a large room, so there was a lot of echo and the sound was too brassy. Once I reduced the treble on the speakers and then we got some furniture in the room, and particularly carpets, the sound quality was vastly improved. After some break in and more furniture, art work, carpets etc. to break up the hard surfaces, the sound is excellent. I still have the treble dialed back to give the bass more emphasis, but they fill the room nicely. Nice detail, adequate bass, even for a room this size, and the rich, mellow sound I have always apprciated from Polks. These speakers are used for music only.

Great overall sound

Review:
Had these installed as my two rear speakers on my 5.1 system. They sound great. I've used these for normal HD TV, DVD and Gamecube and the system and speakers sound great. I have the LC65i for my front speakers a Polk A4 center channel and a 12' Polk subwoofer and the system sounds great and the speakers sound great.

Review:
I was very impressed with these speakers. We used them for our surround sound and it more than met my expectations. I wanted a theater experience and I can say I don't need to go to the theater ever again.

Just about everything. I've read reports about these speakers having crappy bass but.....let's face it, if you want bass, you need a SUBWOOFER!!!!!! These are NOT designed to be your ONLY bass source or else YES, you WILL be disappointed in the speakers!!! Watched a Blu-Ray movie tonight and the 7.1 surround was incredible.
Weaknesses:
The only weakness is that I now have two satellite 5.1 speakers that also need replacement by these 65i's!!!
Review:
I love these speakers. I installed two sets of them today in my family room that is about 26x20 in size. These speakers are the front left and front right, and back surround left and right of my 7.1. This is powered by an Onkyo subwoofer with existing Polk Audio center channel speaker, Velodyne 12" subwoofer, and (cough) 2 Kenwood satellite speakers that are, for now, serving as my 5.1 satellites. OUT OF THE BOX, these things are fantastic. I saw the ability to adjust bass and tweeter, but as soon as I ran the wires down the wall and plugged them in, I had no issues whatsoever. Front two TC65i speakers are installed in the vaulted section in the front, directionally angled to the rocking chairs and couch. The 7.1 speakers are in the ceiling and about 2' behind the couch and 4-5' in front of the rocking chairs. I had company over tonight for Christmas eve and EVERYONE was commenting on the Polks. These 2 Kenwood satellites are going to get replaced FAST!!!!!!!!!!
