TSi400
4-way tower speaker with three 5-1/4 inch drivers.
7" W x 38 7/8" H x 14 1/4" D
17.78cm W x 98.74cm H x 36.20cm D
Middle of the Pack (but not middle of the road)
Step down in size from the TSi flagship TSi500 when you want big impact in a smaller room. Here, three smaller drivers in the classic TSi narrow baffle design make more efficient use of power, while delivering the same wide, realistic soundstage and deep, musical bass response you desire.
TSi400 Features:
Unlike other speakers in this price range, TSi enclosures are constructed of extensively braced, solid MDF with 3/4-inch baffles. This virtually eliminates internal resonances and damps energy-stealing vibrations, for more efficient operation and more transparent sound.
Beautiful pewter accents, a high gloss piano-finish black top plate and your choice of stylish black or cherry wood-grain finishes make TSi speakers a part of your decor.
Polk’s proprietary, patented Dynamic Balance technology allows our engineers to design out distortion-causing driver and system resonances, so you only hear the good sounds.
Klippel motor optimization uses laser measurement technology to ensure a smooth excursion path at either end of the volume spectrum for uniform performance at both low and high volumes.
TSi design combines smaller drivers (for more overall driver area with less driver mass) and narrow baffle geometry (taking up less than one square foot of floor space), for wider range and more spacious soundstaging, so every seat in the house hears a prime performance.
Unlike horns or metal domes, silk dome tweeters deliver clear and detailed highs, without fatigue, even at high volume.
Durable, efficient, and tuned with our Dynamic Balance process, TSi Series polymer cones produce smooth, natural sound.
Surprisingly deep, musical bass response thanks to our critically tuned flared port venting system, which minimizes port noise ("chuffing") and smooths the turbulence of port air flow, to reveal big, full-bodied bass that blends effortlessly with the speaker’s overall dynamics.
All Polk loudspeakers are timbre-matched within their series, designed with the same components throughout, to achieve seamless speaker-to-speaker blending effects in multi-channel systems.
Our high efficiency design results in sound that’s spacious and clear, warm and realistic, when combined with practically any electronics, even the most modestly-powered amplifer or receiver.
Our high performance crossover system boosts performance with premium components, like mylar bypass capacitors, to extend response in the higher, more detail-oriented frequencies.
Dual gold-plated, professional-style 5-way binding posts, for the most secure connection options.
Dual binding posts allow bi-amp or bi-wire connections, for the ultimate in customized high performance audio.
Fat stabilizer feet on TSi Series floorstanding models make a solid stand on both carpet and hard wood floors, with the stability and efficiency to deliver more precise bass response and superior imaging.
All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

Great sound for the price.
Weaknesses:
Cost about the same as the rti8 at most retail stores.
Review:
Very satisfied. Bought these after I found the rti8s to be too bright for my taste. These sound terrific. I couldn't be happier. A little background: I was set on getting rti8s after hearing about how great they were on AVSForum, but I'm very glad I went to a Fry's to test them out. They were great, don't get me wrong, but the tweeter just overpowered the rest of the speaker. Maybe it was that speaker, the room, or me (and my friend who came to the same conclusion), but I didn't like it. So instead I got this. Bottom line though, always listen to the speakers you plan on buying because its all about personal taste.

Beautiful, lifelike sound for chamber music and voice. The cherry finish looks nice with our furniture.
Weaknesses:
Opera sounds very realistic too, which encourages my wife to play it more frequently. ;-)
Review:
These speakers were Christmas presents this year. I gave my wife the right speaker. She gave me the left . . . or was it the reverse? In any event, we frequently attend classical concerts including many of Tucson's excellent chamber music series performances. Used as a pair of stereo speakers for similar music in our home, these are very convincing!

Very good range of low's to midrange to highs. Very solidly built.
Weaknesses:
You can adjust the treble and bass to suite your listening style but I think you'd be happier getting the Polk sub-woofer to complement these.
Review:
I am very pleased with the TSi400. I have never had a really nice stereo system and decided to check out a big box store. I was going in to purchase a different brand but the salesman said to wait till I hear the Polk next to those speakers. Wow! The difference was unbelievable. Had I purchased the much cheaper (non Polk) manufacturer's model and not the TSi400 I would never have known what I was missing. Now I don't just hear music, I experience music!

good value for money in parallel to its built and soundstage!can be flaunted in the receiving room as a materpiece because of its built and touch of class (piano finnish). in my opinion the details (mids n high) are clear esp when firing it on vinyl.
Weaknesses:
not as punchier with my other pair of rtia7; i wish i had bought 2 pairs of rtia7 instead
Review:
a stand out with other speakers of the same price and category; bold decision in incorporating that classy piano finnish (fabulous look and feel). If you wanted to stay low but still wanted to maintain the details just switch to spkr b using these pairs.

- slim design - warm bass - very detailed sound - no musical fatique
Weaknesses:
They sound so good i must replace my other speakers in the 5.1 setup aswell. I need a center, subwoofer and 2 bi/dipol rear surround to complete.
Review:
I already own a polk audio system (DB component speaker system and MM component speakers en SR subwoofer) in my car. At home I used to watched, listened and experienced music/movies with the a complete setup JBL Northridge. My 2 front speakers are E60. It a fine speaker for just watching movies but not to listening to music. You'll get too much bass and you'll get tired of the sound. BUT I've just received my TSi 400 en replaced them with the JBL speakers. I'd unwrapped the speakers and saw a slim design and nice look speaker. So I turned on some Luther Vandross and just listened to the music.... It's like a journey..you just got carried away... The low's are powerfull warm and deep, mid's and high are very detailed. The voice of Luther are clear, precize. You can hear the smallest detail like vibrance of a guitar snare. Just what i expected from our friends at Polk.

Clarity, imaging, appearance, balance, customer service.
Weaknesses:
None for Polk or it's speaker. Polk's shipping partners however could stand to be more gentle with the products they ship.
Review:
I ordered two TSi400's direct from Polk and due to some shipping damage did not have them for long. That said, they are a fantastic sounding speaker when you consider their cost. My previous setup where all Definitive Technology and while I was very happy with them, they command a much higher price tag. With the exception of the bass that built in amplified subs provide, these 400's compete very well. They are strong, clear, and image very well. Just a great speaker for a great price in my opinion. I have to add something about Polk Audio's customer service. Absolutely top notch and nothing short of professional. Even when I was upset and perhaps argumentative, my customer service representative went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction. In today's world of electronics, that is a rare thing. That, combined with the quality of the product and it's price point have made ensured that I will complete the system with Polk products.

Not happy with product
Weaknesses:
High end keeps going out and has to be repaired. Time to take it in, gas to get there. gas to pick it up and them pray they dont crap out again.
Review:
I received these as a Christmas present 2010. Using strictly as audio speakers for music. Have had to send each speaker back for for repair because the high end went out. Just lost the high end again in the first one I had repaiered and it is Dec. 2011. Each time they were repaired. These were purchsed for use not to send back to the shop every 3-4 months. Not happy with this product. All the reviews seem to point to surround sound. Might be good for that but dont puurchase as a true audio system speaker.
Polk Response:
If the tweeters keeps going the system is being played beyond its limits. Speakers just don't blow on their own, something has to cause the speaker to blow and excessive volume is the number one cause.

Nothing...... ;-)
Review:
Just bought the TSi series collection (TSi 400+CS20+TSi200)+DW Sub. The sound was incredible even at higher volumes. Connected the speakers with Yamaha RX673 AV receiver, All the frequencies were covered by these speakers.

Great Look! Great Sound! Great Price! Stunning!!!!!
Weaknesses:
Nothing Yet!
Review:
Bought these beauties when the cherry finish was on sale... WOW! This is one of my best purchase to life! Right out of the box, the sound is absolutely AMAZING! Perfect balance between hight, mid and bass frequency! Most important, i can listen for hours without fatigue! Very rare for speakers in this price range! Coupled with my little tube amplifier (10 wpc) I've heard things that I had never heard with my old speakers! Honestly, these speakers are FANTASTIC for the price i've paid, and i am glad to be a new Polk Audio customer! Thanks!!!!!
